《The Most Powerful Ant in the Universe》Chapter Eight: He's Back.

I attacked several more spiders after that.
I wonder how much void I need to grow bigger than the spiders...
[NOTICE: Presence detected.]
[Thank you.]
There's a stunned silence, and then Joule shouts into my brain.
[Did you just thank me?!]
Whoops.
[...No?]
[No, you did! You totally did! You thanked- oh shoot, it's getting closer.]
Glad for the change in subject, I crouch in the grass and wait.
It's not a spider.
An enormous foot crashes onto the ground, and Noah's face comes into view.
"Hey! How's it going?"
[It's you.]
My annoyance should be obvious, but he brushed it off quickly.
"Of course it's me! Who else would it be, Thaddeus?" Chuckling to himself, he added seriously, "But if you ever do run into Thaddeus, run. Just straight up run. Anyway, how's the void going?"
Ignoring the massive jinx he raised, I told him balefully, [Your assistant is really strange.]
He stands up and looks around, then leans back in. "What assistant?"
[The one you built into me when you changed me?]
I suddenly get a feeling as if my brain were being pushed to the side.
[Ah... hello, Noah. How are you?]
His expression becomes borderline murderous in an instant.
"You stole my project?"
[NO! I mean, no! He didn't steal me, I...]
Joule (for of course it's Joule talking) hesitates.
[...I left and hitched a ride on the Void you gave him.]
His face draws uncomfortably close. "Why'd you want to leave? I designed you to want to quantify! You had so much you could quantify!"
[Of course, I want to quantify! That's literally my sole purpose! But how am I suppose to quantify you?]
After a short moment, Noah leaned back. "I guess that's true. But you could have just asked."

I butt in. [What exactly is going on?]
Noah aimed a finger at me. "I designed the V.E.A.U. to quantify and improve any aspects of my abilities, but I guess that it was a pretty tall order. She never worked for me, so I kind of get that she'd want to operate with you."
I think for a moment. [Joule, if I die, what happens to you?]
The answer is quick. [I die with you.]
[So, instead of staying with Noah and being safe, you decided to work with an ant and risk it?]
[Pretty much.]
I find, to my surprise, that I don't dislike Joule nearly as much.
Noah sat down, cross-legged with his two weird legs. "Did you remember to reconfigure your matrix for insectoid use?"
I didn't understand a word of that.
[Please. Would you design me so badly that I - oh wait, no, I didn't.]
I get a feeling as though my stomach is moving inside me. It's not a great feeling.
[Reconfiguration complete. How did I forget to do that?]
Noah shrugs.
"Don't worry about it. You're not really supposed to exist in just one Void, so it makes sense that your processes were operating a little under average. You should be good to go now, though."
I cut in before they talk about any more things I don't understand. [There's something I've been wondering. Why did you go to all the trouble of changing me?]
Noah shrugged again. It's a motion he seems to make frequently.
"I just felt like it, that's all."
Joule whispered into my head. [Your forced modification is just barely legal according to transdimensional law, by the way. If he'd changed you with the intent to change history, you probably would have been hunted down and destroyed.]
[Or he really did just want to see what would happen. It's hard to tell.]
Well. That's an uncomfortable piece of information.
"Anyway, I've got to go. Mom's making spaghetti tonight, and I frickin' love spaghetti. See ya!"
I watch him walk away, paralyzed by a terrifying thought.
[He has a mother?]

Master of Dungeons
-This is my first attempt at uploading a story I created. It is not a fanfic, but uses several systems from other stories I've read. I hope you enjoy, and feel free to leave comments or criticisms as appropriate. Thank you.-Edwin Cast was your (mostly) regular guy living and working in Kentucky. He had a knack for working, and was always bouncing from job to job as fancy took him. Insatiably curious, he was always on the look out for new or interesting information or things to do. You could say he was a 'hard-work fanatic'.But with an ailing mother and the inability to realize that he was being shunned by those considered his 'betters', he met his mortal end at the hands of those people who he replaced. Beaten to death on the same day his mother died, he's soon pulled from the void into a world beyond his own imagination. Reborn into a fantasy world as the last 'Demon Lord', Edwin is expected to rule over a vast number of races, each of which are considered 'monsters' and demon-kin by the zealous human kingdoms of the world. And if that wasn't enough, the only way to progress and make ends meat is to build and control 'Dungeons' for the righteous humans to invade!Edwin will have to give it his all in a world he never expected even existed, and will have to learn to survive with his wits and growing power in order to establish something resembling peace in the war-torn lands of Eternia.-NOTE: I'm still in the process of working on the storyline, characters, and abilities that will be presented. A large number of themes are planned, and mature/adult content is planned. The story may also be a bit slow in some cases, so please bare with me. Thanks again!-NOTE: People have been mentioning the rough grammar and spelling errors that come with my posts; and while I've said so in the forum comments, I'm going to post it here as well. This is all basically a rough draft. I post the chapters as I write them, with only a spell-check for accuracy. None of the chapters are proofread. Once people point out blatant errors, I try to correct them; but otherwise I'm more interested in writing. If anyone wishes to proofread my work, shoot me a PM on the forums! Thanks again.

Twoen
The struggle for an interesting game has been the story of my life for quite some time. Every game I find is either too easy, not interesting or too short. Luckily, my two brothers who match my level of skill, albeit in different areas, tend to spice things up. When I look at my older brother I have no idea how he gets anything done when he's such an idiot. Still it doesn't detract from my respect for him as a gamer, though maybe a little. When I look at my younger brother I marvel at the monster that my older brother and I created. Deadliness, craftiness and quiet, both in what he does and how he is. When it's just us three we tend to destory everything in our path. So normally we tend to compete rather than team. Although that isn't to say we're just good as individuals. When we work together our effectiveness multiplies rather than lowering. Well enough about us dorks. Anyway a new VR game came out, apparently in development for quite some time. Of course my older brother decided to drive out and buy three copies. What would this one be missing? Difficulty? Depth? Length? In any case I plan to reach the top before my brothers do. It was a competition after all. Twoen had all three things I normally yearn for in spades. Something I did not foresee. A keeper

The Blood Queen
The rain fell from the sky with ferocity and smashed into the pavement filling the air with the sound of a stampede. The noise was deafening as I struggled to stand up. The blood from my wound was covering the ground beneath me and I covered it with my hand as I pushed off the pavement. On my feet now I struggled to step towards the grass. Through the howling wind and pounding raindrops I could hear what sounded like a chant, calling me and drawing me towards the cliffs edge. "Vienna, my Queen, my blood Queen" I started to move my feet faster until I could run towards the edge. Only when I was at the edge did I turn and look back one last time at the castle behind me. I could see him standing on the balcony, he was screaming my name. I could just hear it over the rain. I unclipped my red cape and whispered goodbye to him. As he jumped off the balcony to run towards me I leaned backwards and let my body fall with the rushing water to the river far down below. I carried her whispers with me to the dark edge until they vanished.
