《Doll of Death》Chapter 17

After two days of travel, we see walls in the distance. When we approach there are two guards, one is a lizardman and the other is a harpy.
(Lizard Guard) "Hello, this is Hart. What is your purpose for coming?"
(Lilith) "Sightseeing. We recently arrived in Unique so we are just looking around."
(Lizard Guard) "I see. Please touch this plate to confirm that you passed the trial."
Rosa and I both touch the plate, it glowed blue both times.
(Lizard Guard) "Good. Please enjoy your stay."
(Rosa) "Thank you!"
We walk into town and there are so many monsters here, harpies, lizardmen, orcs, ogres, oni, wolves, golems, slimes, minotaurs, centaurs, dragons, ghosts, skeletons, zombies, spiders, vampires, dryads, goblins, elementals, kobolds, and many more. The average level of adults seems to be 25, and kids are almost any level below that. We spend a few hours walking around town and learn things about the country, there's a currency here, they are gems with specially carved shape and magic imprint that can't be replicated. A lot of citizens register as "adventurers", they stole the name from the humanoid country, the profession is virtually the same in that you get rewarded to go and handle requests, well, us monsters we're designed for surviving and combat. If you don't have any money you can turn in monster materials at the Adventurer's Guild.
We decide to go to the Adventurer's Guild, we will register but we won't be bothering with actual adventurer work, we're just going to sell the mountains of corpses preserved in Rosa's Dimensional Stomach. We find the Adventurer's Guild and walk inside, there are a variety of monsters inside looking at requests, reporting requests, drinking, selling loot, I see one orc sleeping in the corner. We walk up to the receptionist.
(Harpy Receptionist) "Hello. What brings you here today."
(Lilith) "We are here to register and sell monster corpses."
(Harpy Receptionist) "Registering? To register, you have to be at least level 15."

(Drunk Orc Adventurer) "What's two little girls doing here. Being an adventurer is dangerous work, killing wild monsters. You might get kidnapped and played with."
(Harpy Receptionist) "Please touch this panel to verify your status."
Rosa touches the panel.
Rosa
Level 42
Unique Race: Black Witch
Species: Slime
When that appeared the entire room went cold and quiet.
(Harpy Adventurer) "Level 42 Unique Monster!?"
(Minotaur Adventurer) "Not only that, she's a slime. She appears as a humanoid, she must have Humanization! There are only five slimes in Unique capable of that, she would be the sixth."
The whole guild started getting noisy after those two started talking. The receptionist also looks shocked, I snap my fingers in front of her, she shakes her head and records the information. She then slowly moves the panel over to me. The whole guild is staring at us wondering if my status will blow them away as well. I touch the plate.
Lilith
Level 45
Unique Race: Reaper Doll
Species: Spirit Golem
The entire guild went into an uproar.
(Harpy Adventurer) "Level 45 Unique monster!? A spirit golem!"
(Minotaur Adventurer) "Such a detailed golem, that unique race sure gifted her an amazing appearance!"
(Ogre Adventurer) "Two Unique monsters showing up at the same time together. This is exciting. I wonder what metal the golem is made out of."
The drunk orc from before is currently passed out on the floor, I think I see a piss stain on his crotch, our status must've scared him. I bring the receptionist back to reality and she gets our registration ready. We were handed two gold-colored cards, adventurer IDs.
(Harpy Receptionist) "Due to your status, you will start off at C-Rank. Your status as an adventurer won't be revoked if you don't take requests, you just have to sell materials. I believe you said at the start you wanted to sell some, how many do you want to sell?"
(Lilith) "Rosa, what do we have?"
(Rosa) "258 F-ranks, 209 E-ranks, 153 D-ranks, 84 C-ranks, and 15 humans."

Everyone in the guild went crazy again, anyone drinking had spit takes.
(Harpy Adventurer) "What is that horde!? Where are they keeping all that?"
(Minotaur Adventurer) "Maybe one of them has a storage skill. Probably the slime since the golem asked her for the count."
I brought the receptionist back to life again.
(Harpy Receptionist) "Follow me to the backroom, to dump all those corpses."
We head through a door and I can hear a crowd following. We reach a huge warehouse, probably 100-meter high ceiling and its 200 meters wide.
(Harpy Receptionist) "Please leave all the corpses here."
Rosa turns back into slime form, everyone looked at her slime form.
(Harpy Adventurer) "A black slime and a pink symbol?"
(Minotaur Adventurer) "Her humanoid form really matches."
(Slime Adventurer) "She's so cute."
Rosa starts taking out monsters out in piles categorized by race, it takes about 30 minutes. People started getting shocked when things like Drake and Forest Demon Anaconda appeared.
After another two hours of a bunch of guild workers counting all of it as well as their condition the receptionist talks to us again.
(Harpy Receptionist) "Most of these corpses are in amazing condition, very little damage. A question though, where are their magic stones?"
(Lilith) "I ate them."
The crowd went crazy again.
(Harpy Adventurer) "She ate the magic stones!? How is she alive!?"
(Minotaur Adventurer) "That is one iron stomach, I know golems run on magic but this is ridiculous."
(Lilith) "I started crushing and eating magic stones since I first spawned. It increased my magic stat."
(Harpy Adventurer) "Spawned! They were dungeon-born monsters, it's rare to see an intelligent monster appear from those."
(Harpy Receptionist) "Well with only the corpses and the fact the guild has to dismantle this ourselves, you will receive 7456840 jin. It will be automatically placed in a bank card we had arranged for you. She hands us two bank cards and tells us the money was split between the cards.
(Lilith) "Thank you."
(Rosa) "Thank you!"
We walk out of the guild amidst a crowd of shocked adventurers. This is where people normally look for an inn, but neither of us need sleep. So we decide to go looking around town for shops and the like. While walking around I notice most fruits cost around 5-15 jin, and a loaf of bread is 10jin. From what I can see 10jin is around 1US Dollar from my old world, so from all the monsters that were sold we acquired the equivalent of $745684, not bad with that we shouldn't have any money problems, although, we don't really need money. We don't need to eat or sleep. Rosa just likes eating, like right now she just bought a meat skewer for 20jin. People have their bank cards touch to exchange money quickly, actually seeing on Jand cash is rare, but you might see kids with low-value jin on hand that were given as allowance.
We spent the rest of the day walking around and it's now night.
(Rosa) "Waaah!"
Someone from an ally grabbed Rosa and has a knife at her neck.
(Mugger) "Give me all your money or this girl has a bad time."
I check his status, he's a level 20 hob-goblin. Rosa and I start laughing.
(Mugger) "What's so funny?"
(Lilith) "Do more research on your targets next time, if there is a next time."
Rosa teleports out of his arm and I knock out the mugger. We drag him to a guardhouse and turn him in.
(Ogre Guard) "Be careful on the streets at night, though from what I can tell no mugger in this town can touch you. The capital might be a bit more dangerous but not by too much."
We leave the guardhouse and head to an inn just to experience the atmosphere.

Witchbone: The Goblins Winter
Themes found in these stories include friendship, found family, defying negative expectations, trying to figure out how to be a force for good in your corner of the world, doing heroic things even if you don't look or feel like a hero, and that being different isn't necessarily fatal. Summary: A spell of arctic weather. A mysterious death. The reading of a will. Strange tracks in the snow. Eleven-year-old Danny Hallow accepts his life, such as it is. His father is dead, his mother left years ago. His three Keepers are the only people aware of Danny's erratic and not-very-impressive psychic abilities. He has no friends, he's been suspended from school, and he's responsible for the life of a small brown bat that's ended up in his care. When Danny's estranged Uncle Enoch dies under mysterious circumstances, he and his Keepers are called to the town of Eddystone, New Hampshire for the reading of the man's will. Traveling four hundred miles from his dreaded hometown to attend, Danny is happy to get away, possibly inherit something interesting- and maybe find out more about his family while he's there. Arriving at the crumbling family estate of Gnomewood Home, he finds it to be hauntingly familiar, a bit creepy, oddly comforting, and possibly alive. When his uncle's will reveals that he's inherited Gnomewood and everything in it, he's determined to stay and make a happier life for himself in Eddystone, somehow. But at Gnomewood, he finds more questions than answers to his family's secrets. Disturbing old memories come to him in dreams. His psychic abilities begin to grow stronger, and as a result he becomes aware that a horde of cryptic creatures are plaguing the town of Eddystone, seemingly drawn out by the spell of an unusually frigid February. Toothy little goblins that are sneaky, vicious, and hungry. Goblins that take a particular interest in Danny. Will the emergence of the alien, and potentially dangerous, power he's inherited from his peculiar family tree help Danny survive the goblin infested winter, inadvisable attempts to befriend a terrifying boy with silver eyes, and a new school? Only if he learns to control them before they put him and everyone around him in danger. Before they convince some people that he should never have been allowed to exist at all. Before he becomes just another twisted tale in his family's bizarre history, kept hidden for centuries within the ivy-covered walls of Gnomewood Home.
