《Doll of Death》Chapter 4

It's been a few hours I've lured a few more monsters, four lv4 goblins, three lv3 bats, two lv4 scorpions, two new lv5 spiders, and a new lv6 snake. I reached level 6 after all that. A good haul I must say. It benefits me that most monsters use poison and I'm immune. I've taken a hit or two but it's not much due to my defenses and has already recovered. I also noticed I acquired a new skill Hand-to-Hand Combat Arts. It already ranked up despite not using it. It might be trying to catch up to my Hand-to-Hand Combat Skill.

I assume that using these specifically to use them somehow magically powers them up since you could do these actions without said skill.
Hm? I hear something coming. Looks like something got lured. I get into position and wait.
...
What the heck!?
It looks like the snake from before but at least twice as big, it looks at least 4 meters tall and that's not including the rest of its body stretching at least another 10 meters.

This thing is strong but not absurdly powerful if I play my cards right I could take it down. The adventurer party at the time was too strong and had the number advantage. Let's appraise those new words.
Demon Serpent
A serpent monster that has achieved evolution once, gains strong scales and poison magic. Danger Rank: E+
Reptile Monster
Monsters of reptilian nature.
Serpent Scales
A skill only seen on evolved serpent monsters lowers any damage received by 10%.
Poison Resistance
Grants resistance to poisons the effectiveness based on rank.
Poison Fang
Adds poison to attacks using fangs.
Poison Magic
Ability to use poison magic. Spells available based on rank.
Cannibal
Title received by those that have eaten those of the same species.
I can't judge it for having a title like that. It's life or death out here, after all, you'll do anything when you're hungry. Now although I'm immune to poisons I have to be careful if the first poison spell is a type of projectile it might still be able to hurt me. Now let's get close to it while it checks the pile of corpses I've amassed. Now! I initiate by running and using Body Slam on the back of its head.

I dealt a lot of damage but it looks like it will be an uphill battle since it has both Physical Attack Resistance and Snake Scales to help resist my attacks. Oh, it's looking at me now.
...
It looks mad. Yeah, I'd be mad if something just smacked the back of my head out of nowhere too.
The snake is swiping at me with its tail, I jump to avoid it and start dashing towards it. It spits a ball of poison out, I avoid it and from my 360° field of view, I see the ground start smoking and corroding where the attack landed. Acid!? You have got to be kidding, that is the first spell of poison magic. I definitely can't get hit by that. It tries to hit me with its tail again I roll under the attack and proceed to jump to attack its head. Since I'm faster it shouldn't have enough time to dodge. The moment I hit its nose with both arms it shoots acid at my body. Ouch, that stings. I land and see that half of the rock that composed of my waist is gone. I hope I can fix that.

I lost a sixth of my health in terms of damage I can afford to take four more but it isn't like that since it also damages my body if it destroys one of my legs even if I still have HP I'm dead. We look at each other for a second and continue, it can only use the acid shot eight more times.
I dash at it again, it attempts to attack with its tail again, I dodge it and then give the tail a roundhouse kick, followed by an uppercut and then a hook. I immediately jump back to avoid an incoming acid shot.

This is definitely a battle of hit and run I just have to not get hit. Simple. I have to make use of all my combat training.

While this battle was happening in the dark unnoticed by the two combatants a small creature was watching waiting to get its chance at eating those monster corpses.

Mage Among Superheroes
Turlough is a mage. He also happens to be an orc, generally lauded as being less intelligent than humans. He was unfortunately born with the Curse of the Barbarian, meaning that he can’t level up except through combat- which greatly hinders his ability to show he can be a proper mage. In a world with necromancers, dragons, invading armies, and all sorts of other monsters he would still be able to advance quickly, but unfortuantely… that world is not his world. An unprecedented peace reigns across the land, and in the last several decades there’s been little use for people capable of fighting- and thus little reason for people to fight him. So when he sees a portal in his master’s study he takes it, hoping to find a horde of demons or something equally foolish to combat at low level. But instead he ends up in a strange city full of skyscrapers and people running around in colorful outfits. Superheroes- and of course supervillains as well. What dangers and opportunities could await him in such a strange and unfamiliar world? Only time will tell. Inspired by many things in the superhero genre, and Super Minion specifically- though while the setting will share some standard elements, it is an original setting that will hopefully be as engaging as many of the other universes. Schedule: One chapter each Monday/Thursday, approx. 2000 words.

Blood of the Past
He awoke in a startled rush feeling as though it had been centuries since last he had opened his eyes, but alas, it had. His thoughts returned and he heard the screaming of his people and the great pain from the burning fires set against them. He was shunned and outcast along with the rest of his people, and the wars, the terrible wars fought because they could not understand. The Humans could not understand and would not understand him and his peoples true nature. He stood, his strength returning to him, as he did so the dust that had gathered on him fell to the floor. He looked around the cave which he hid in all those centuries ago and he found the way out. He made his way towards it, wanting to see the same as which he had when he entered, wilderness. He made it to the mouth of the cave and found it to be near midday, and he saw naught but wilderness. Save a lone tower far in the distance clearly overgrown and abandoned. His blood boiled as he stepped into the light and the harsh reality of him and his people rushed back into his mind. He would wait for night, and then he would move.
