《What LITRPG There is Only Needlework [Hiatus]》Chapter 33

Sui, wave 7 will be commencing in approximately 5:00 minutes, please ready yourself. As a member of a team that managed to last longer than 24 hours you may skip the wave and its rewards.
(WARNING this will push all rewards, even Milestones back 1 wave)
A loud thunk sounding out beside Sui, looking over she saw that it was Aife summoning a cooler. “Eat” was all she said before throwing it open and grabbing herself a handful of food.
“Wait… what are we doing?” asked Sui
“The message saying it just restored our physical fatigue almost certainly doesn’t include food, and if we are participating in wave 7, we are going to need whatever help we can get” said Aife
Sui tilted her head “Why are we doing the wave though? What’s so bad about delaying the rewards”
Aife slapped a large block of cheese and an apple into Sui’s lap “Eat”
Trina, meanwhile, had grabbed herself a few grapes and a cookie from somewhere and was carefully munching on them “Aife’s right. We really should be participating Sui”
“But why? Didn’t you guys say that you didn’t want to be participating in the waves” said Sui
Trina shook her head “Ok, look, I want to keep myself safe. Something, these waves certainly aren’t. So, I’d like to know what they want from me, accomplish that, and then go back to things being normal”
Sui looked down at Ito, and then back up at Trina “I really don’t see how that makes any sense. The system is normal now, and I’ve already got something really cool for my troubles… still don’t really see why we shouldn’t take the break though”
Trina groaned and shoved a handful of grapes into her mouth before swallowing. “Ok, look, the waves get harder and harder every time a new one pops up.”
Sui, wave 7 will be commencing in approximately 4:00 minutes. Please have a large amount of space available.
Trina’s face twitched at the timing but continued “And if we are behind the curve then that means we are weaker than we should be. Imagine if we had to do that wave six without Aife having got her wave five rewards. We’d have been done for”
Sui thought for a moment as she took a bit out of her cheese. Bit rich, but I guess we are in a rush. And hmmm, well you say that we’d have lost, but I mean, I managed to get through all five waves without levelling up at all…

But if wave 11 is a big jump from wave ten, then perhaps Trina is correct. Sui took another bite out of her cheese. I guess I don’t really mind… and I bet this is another team game so maybe whoever is best can pick up the slack.
“Sui, how fit for the wave are you?” asked Aife “Personally, I give myself… maybe 60%? My strength is back, but there is a weight on my mind and I don’t trust myself to use all of my strength properly”
Sui, wave 7 will be commencing in approximately 3:00 minutes. Please have a large amount of space available.
Hmm, Sui let her thoughts spin throughout her mind, forming and morphing as she took another bite of cheese and moved her arms around. Strange. My gut says I’m perhaps at 20% tops, but my body responds to me almost perfectly.
I’d say I’m actually closer to 40% but… now that a good portion of my ability involves my thread control… I’m not quite sure. It depends on the task, but I might not be at 40% or I could be well above it. “Ignoring my thread control abilities, I’m at 40% but feel like 20” said Sui
Aife nodded “I see. Why are you ignoring your thread control? I thought you loved them”
Sui nodded, while finishing off the last of the cheese “Well, I just don’t have a good enough grasp of the fatigue and response time. I’m still getting better at it as time goes on… and like… clearly there is a muscle at work here. Overusing it has various effects on my… brain maybe?
“Anyway, Aife, I have yet to properly identify the fatigue signs and the true degree with which I can push my power, should extreme situations occur when tired. I do not think it can be considered physical fatigue so I am likely to have limited, to no control”
Aife shrugged “Should be fine, Trina doesn’t have any fancy abilities-” “Hey” “And besides, you got a bonus like I did, and if we just want to finish the wave then we should be fine.”
Trina sighed “Aife’s poor explanation aside, based on the fact that we got a break, only because you lasted for over 24 hours, I get the feeling this challenge wasn’t meant to be quite so extreme.”

“Perhaps we only needed to last a few minutes. Maybe an hour? I mean, who knows really, but yeah… I think we have to do it. If we rely on Aife that’s just how it is”
“Why do you sound so disappointed? Can’t you rely on your girlfriend for anything” said Aife jokingly.
Sui, wave 7 will be commencing in approximately 2:00 minutes. Please have a large amount of space available.
“So” said Sui taking a bit out of her apple “We’ve decided to go through with the wave then?”
“Yes” said Trina
“And now she’s accepting things on my behalf. Sui, however can I escape from her evil crutches” said Aife
Sui took a lazy look at Trina. Looking over every inch of her body as if she was slowly dissecting Trina with her eyes. After the first pass Trina started to shiver slightly but hid it behind eating some more grapes.
“I don’t think there is anything she could do to stop you Aife. You are stronger, faster, taller, and better equipped to escape from her. I see no reason for you to feel trapped” said Sui
Aife let out a forced chuckle “Yeah… thanks Sui, what about you? How would you get away?” asked Aife trying to make things more light hearted.
Sui didn’t seem to get the message though “Well, I feel no need to escape Trina, but I’d throw out a piece of string, let it land on her clothes and then take control of them to bind her hands and feet so that she couldn’t chase after me. If I had the time, I’d wrap some around her mouth, and around her fingers. She would be unable to chase me or escape in a timely manner”
Trina gulped “Gee… really make a girl feel loved don’t you Sui. Why do I get the crazy escape plan but not Aife?”
Ito and Sui looked at her like she’d gone crazy “Why would I only have one for you. Aife is much harder to escape from, and I am unsure the same tactic would work, but she is much worse at noticing small details. I’d try and blind her best I could with thread before sneaking around corners and finding places to hide. Much less secure then binding her, but I am unsure it was possible before and is certainly not anymore”
Trina gulped and looked away “Well… at least you are prepared”
Sui nodded, but got the sense she didn’t believe what she was saying. I don’t see why you are so freaked out Trina. We were taught to evaluate threats in our Ti Kwon Do lessons. It would be a disgrace not to have a plan in place for escaping someone.
Has she perhaps realised she has no way of escaping me? I can think of quite a few ways and most of them involve throwing thread away and forcing me to chase after it. Other than that, Aife can just outrun me… hmmm maybe I should think of catching tactics instead.
Sui, wave 7 will be commencing in approximately 1:00 minutes. Please have a large amount of space available.
Before Sui could start to consider how best to hunt her friends, another message appeared. Quickly eating the rest of her apple Sui stood up shakily and prepared for whatever was coming next. She moved away, heading in the opposite direction of the house.
This was to ensure the maximum space in front of her. She also collected her thread and wound it around her arms. Not ideal, but acceptable enough, thinking that she could break the thread in a pinch if she really needed to.
Aife groaned standing up as well, before pocketing the cooler and helping Trina to her feet. The pair strode over and stood next to Sui, presumably willing to go with it rather than try and do their previous tactic of back-to-back, and assuming this was a team game.
Welcome to Wave 7. Please stand within 1 metre of all team members and await further instructions. Further instructions in 0:59 minutes.

Doctored Chance: The Unpleasant Preceding of "Pajama Boy" and What Drove Him to Murder
I, Mick Chadwick, regret to inform my readers that this memoir contains nothing but the truth, which in the case of Tobias MacClain, most ridiculed as Pajama Boy, is far from pleasant. If you seek to relate to a hero more than to aspire to them and have the stomach for unpleasant things such as a hero left for dead, villainous scars, bomb threats, and murderous intent, then look no further. All of these gruesome things and more await from my research, and though I do not wish them on any man or woman, I cannot bear this burden on my own much longer. In the words of Tobias MacClain himself, "Sometimes, a villainous act can cause the greatest good." I hope that all my villainous acts of sneaking, blackmailing, diary-reading, and grave-digging, among others, will be redeemed as I present this complete and truthful memoir to the world, and with any luck, open eyes to the truth of what we call "villainy". Doctored Chance: The Unpleasant Preceding of "Pajama Boy" and What Drove Him to Murder ********* MATURE FILTER IS FOR:- violence- graphic imagery (blood, burns, fairly dark headspaces)- cartoon depiction of burn scars for visual aid Despite graphics, Mick Chadwick's writing keeps Mr. MacClain's terrible tale light somehow. This is foremostly a comedy.
