《New God》Night Two

Adam had no idea what time it was specifically but it was fully night now. He had slept fitfully for a while, tossing and turning before waking and hearing a rustle outside the tent. Following that he had been unable to get back to sleep. He was surprised to not feel tired before he remembered his stamina, the information being visible to him despite the lack of light.

He didn't have a clock but there must be a way of measuring time in the system. He worked out from his current mana that between four and five hours had passed. That meant he was only half way through the night and he would quickly run low on stamina. Well before the night was over. The rustle returned outside the tent. Or several rustles from several directions. He found it hard to tell.
Adam tried using Discern to see if he could find out who or what was outside. Nothing happened. Mana Check = 13.8, so it had worked but with no specifc target had not given any information. He had not seen any evidence of large predators in the day but he also hadn't really thought about it. Plus he was in a world with magic. How did he know whether or not skeletons might rise at night or an army of dragons appear when the sun goes down. He shook his head trying not to think too far down that route. Somehow the presence of Person was reassuring; even though Adam knew they wouldn't be able to help if there was anything dangerous outside.
The rustling got louder and moved round to the front of the tent.

There was no light to help Adam at all. It was pitch black. He tried to remember if he had secured the toggles at the front of the tent to hold the flaps down. He couldn't remember. Also was this a good thing or bad. If whatever was outside wanted in - maybe it would be better if he hadn't secured the tent. No, it wouldn't be better. Knowing this didn't help him remember if he had done up the toggles or not though.
Adam clutched at his stick. It felt silly now in the depths of the night. He would find it hard to swing in the tent and would more be left with a poking motion to defend himself. He tried to think what else he could do and there was only one thing that might help him. Trying not to panic as he heard something scraping along the side of the tent.
He pulled up the skill window looking through the skills available to the Scout class and picked [stealth] as the choice for level one. Without looking at the cost, he activated the skill. A small tug inside and the sensation that he had pulled a cloak around him made Adam confident the skill had worked. He now took a moment to check the skill information.

Adam switched his concentration to the space in front of him where he knew the opening to the tent was. The rustle of the tent fabric became more intense as he waited. Then a waft of colder air hit him alongside an animal scent. Not seeing, but sensing something was there he used Discern again. Vermite - Level 1. A small humanoid creature with rat-like features. Scavengers, drawn by food. Often hunt in packs. Adam looked at the pile of fruit he had placed waiting for his breakfast. Idiot. He hadn't considered that this would be a problem earlier.

He remained still as a small humanoid creature, about two feet tall entered the tent followed by another. They ignored him making excited squeaking noises and calling a further two vermite into the tent. Having activated Discern he was now able to tell the number and location of the creatures. Probably a useful feature if he wasn't so scared by their presence. He inched towards the back wall of the tent and was unexpectedly hit by a wave of fatigue. It was like someone had hit him with a sleep spell, if such a thing existed. He had just enough time to look at his status before passing out.
