I effortlessly dodge a fireball, it wasn’t hard and I didn’t need to.

I’m fighting a regular fire dragon, this one’s green, and looks like a T-Rex with long arms.

Really long arms, such as they drag on the ground, but they still walk on two legs.

It’s a C-Rank job, but they are still trying to assess my rank at the guild, if I can do five of each rank without failing then I’ll upgrade easily, that only happens when they are sure that the person is a higher rank.

I’ve done three C-ranks already, I’m on my second today.

Jobs are a great way to pass time, and they make great money.

But the girl employee is starting to get annoying, she keeps saying how I steal all the real adventurer's jobs and stuff, and won’t stop nagging the male employee to kick me out.

The actual adventurers don’t care, most of them encourage me, the few who don’t ignore me, very few have actually discriminated against me.

The dwarf is actually her childhood friend apparently, and says she doesn’t actually care that much, she just hates losing, but to me, it just seems like she’s annoying.

I don’t really care what she thinks about me, if she thinks I’m savage, I’ll just act like a savage in front of her.

The fire dragon was reported for killing a couple of merchants and their bodyguards, however, it was only shown to be LVL 15.

From what I see it’s gained an LVL and is now LVL 16, but nothing really strikes me as being able to kill multiple bodyguards and their merchants.

Just as I thought that it changes, it turns blue and instantly changes size, I check it’s LVL again, it turned to an LVL 40, so it can hide it’s LVL, well I guess I can too, just not a transformation.

It shoots streams of blue fire, I dodge again, but this time, I advance.

No need to drag this out any further.

I use a regular pepper breath, it confidently takes it, but then flies back from the hit.

I go faster than its momentum and kick it in its stomach.

It hits a tree and somehow survives, probably because I didn’t hit its vitals, but is extremely injured.

Blood comes from its mouth.

Then I hear a roar close by.

A little red dragon, the same one from the beginning, looks like it was a switching skill and not a transformation.

It rushes over to its blue brother, crying in agony.

It lays on its brother's stomach, the blue one grimaces, the red one gets off its stomach and goes to the arm.

I walk forward, feeling like the bad guy, but knowing that even though this scene would make anyone cry, these guys wouldn’t hesitate to kill people or monsters.

The red dragon stands in front of the blue one, long arms spreading out wide like he’s saying, to get to him you have to go through me.

The scene makes me doubt myself, but then I remember the last time I questioned myself.

The last time I said, why am I fighting, I have no hard feelings with this monster.

Then it happened.

But that was the past me.

I’m going to stop hesitating because if I do someone could die.

I rush forward, clearing the small gap in front of us instantly.

Then I kick, it kills the red dragon instantly, I know it does because I get the message.

The blue dragon screams “NOOOOOOOOO!”

Then falls into bawling.

I put it out of its misery.

When did I get so dark, when did I become the bad guy?

Whatever, because I did this I saved more lives.

I use copy entity number, it wasn’t a large gain, and I got the skill ‘fire dye: Blue,’ but that was it.

I got their bodies and started towards the guild.

Once I got there once again everyone was surprised, but I didn’t really care.

“What’s wrong? You killed a rank B monster again, that’s something to celebrate about.”

(“Then why do I feel like a bad guy?”)

“What do you mean?”

I describe the scene to him, excluding that it was only one kick and fireball that sent him backward.

“Yeah that sounds bad, I would’ve even spared them.”

I put my head down.

“But then again think about how many people you saved from killing them, ten, twenty, maybe even hundreds.”

I mean, yeah, but I still feel bad.

But is there anything else I could do?

I go home, which is now an inn, not a very expensive one, but one that accepts pets.

It’s a ten-foot room with a bed and a magic lamp in it, nothing else.

One problem I have is loud neighbors, why is the upstairs person with one pet worse than the next-door person who has twelve dogs/Tame Wolf behemoths.

It doesn’t make sense.

Anyway, I get some sleep, and then start heading towards the inn.

A teenager in armor gets up behind me and tries to catch me.

“Stop, get back to your owner.”

“You there, get away from that bird, he’s an adventurer, you twat, don’t judge people by their looks.”

It’s a middle-aged looking lady.

I’ve seen her before, but can’t really tell where.

“You sure, it just looks like a lost chocobo or filolial.”

“I just said to not judge by appearances, twat, no go along.”

“Okay old lady.”

“Old, you just, I just told you not to judge by appearances again, Ilragorn, I’m only twenty-five.”

“Whatever, I’m leaving”

The teen ran off.

“I’m sorry for my and his ignorance earlier.”

“My name is Leola Rajue, and we met at the guild, I stopped you because I thought you were a pet.”

(“Oh, I slightly remember you, well I forgive you, now I will be going to the guild.”)

“Okay, I usually go there later with my party, you’re welcome to join us.”

(“Nah, I’m good.)

I don’t want to do all the work and then they get the credit, she seems nice, but I’m not really planning to get attached to anything.

“Well too bad, see you around then.”

(“Bye.”)

I went on my way towards the guild and got there with no trouble, it looks like I’m only getting noticed by obvious tourists and new people to the town.

Though if there are tourists that means that there are peaceful towns.

I’ll have to visit one.

I get inside and see the teen, who had an expression like, what are you doing here.

He whispers something to the guy he was talking to, and then the guy laughs and explains something most likely about me.

No matter, I turn my focus on to the desk with the male employee, I should probably learn their names, I’m always bad with them.

Anyway, he’s talking to an older man with a tough beard who’s sitting next to him drinking adult juice.

I go up to the desk and wait for them to notice me.

“Oh hey, you want a job, you get one last C-Rank until you can try B’s out right.”

(“Yes.”)

“Okay give me one sec, I’ll take them out.”

“Take out the A-Rank quests.”

The male employee pauses.

“But sir, he hasn’t even completed-”

“Take it out.”

“Yes, sir.”

He takes out multiple quests that even I can tell seem more important, to the paper quality to the ink quality, it almost like it’s glowing, it’s a cut above D and C.

The male employee starts setting them out normally, but you can see how tense he is.

I notice that the entire guildhall is quiet, and watching him.

“This one.”

He puts his finger on one with a behemoth on it.

“Do this one.”

(“Okay.”)

“And he agrees, do you even know the difference between B-Ranks and A-Ranks.”

(“Nope.”)

“Everything in A-Rank is LVL 50-99, this one is a Flame Lioness, Evolves at age 20, usually around LVL 70, the size of a fully grown Fire dragon, and it travels in groups.”

(“That’s kinda concerning.”)

“Kind of, it’s a quest we would normally give to an S-Ranks if this one wasn’t reported alone.”

(“That’s less concerning.”)

“It’s less concerning that’s it’s alone, it’s probably around LVL 70 and you are not concerned.”

(“Where is it.”)

He had to calm himself down.

“Across the huge lake to the west, takes five cinds (Currency system 100 ewips = 1 cind, 25 cinds = 1 zoulx) to get a decent boat through, if you can’t pay for that it’ll take twenty days on foot, you can take a loan, but you’ll have to pay it back.”

(“How long does it usually take for the boat?”)

“Two days.”

(“How fast do the boats usually go.”)

“Compared to what?"

(“How about an LVL 20 dragon”)

“Can the dragon fly?”

(“Sure.”)

“Then it’s less than half the speed.”

(“I’ll be back, straight west from the guildhall or the port?”)

“The port is west, then you have to let the boat guide you there, if you go along the coast you would eventually find it, but if you can fly or something you might get lost.”

(“So I have to get a boat?”)

“Yes, unless you want to run across the border until you find the coastal village.”

(“How much is the reward for the quest?”)

“10 cinds.”

(“Loan please.”)

“Why am I not surprised that you calculated that you would gain profit and can do math faster than most humans.”

(“It’s 10-5, not that hard.”)

“Where did you learn math?”

(“It’s 10-5”)

“Everybody what’s ten minus five.”

The room was quiet.

“If anybody wants a free 10 ewips-”

“1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13-”

“Tell me the answer to 10-5 on their first try.”

“Oh.”

“Anyone.”

One of the females in the back yell, “5!”

“Yes, come up to get your money.”

She did and looked embarrassed.

“Math is not one of the greatest subjects of adventurers.”

(“How do they manage their money?”)

“What’s money got to do with math?”

(“If you have twelve ewips, and you buy something for three ewips, how many ewips do you have left?”)

“Nine ewips, I don’t see how that has anything to do with math.”

(“What’s 12-3?”)

It took him longer as he counted it out in his head.

“It’s nine, so what?”

(“12 ewips - 3 ewips.”)

He immediately got it, he looked really surprised.

“This is revolutionary.”

(“No it’s not, but you do know you can ask analyze to do the math for you right?”)

“What?”

Why is he surprised by this, he was acting so smart a minute ago, why is math not explored, why is this the first time he’s hearing about this.

“This is revolutionary.”

Now he’s right about that if I had a little voice in my head telling me math problems I would be the valedictorian in every single school I went to.

(“Well I have to go.”)

“Wait, don’t you need that loan.”

(“Oh yeah, when can I have it.”)

“Freydra, get five cinds from the vault.”

“Yes, guild master.”

I thought so, he seemed too important to be a random old guy.

“When will you be going?”

(“As soon as I can.”)

“Well then, have a good hunt.”

He took one more sip of adult juice, then left.

“What’s revolutionary?”
