《Acacia Chronicle》Elena's Requiem Story Arc, Part VI [Re-write]

Eldia, on the night of the Count de L’Enfer’s birthday…
Beneath the moonlit sky and the stars above like silver threads upon the veil of night, all in Eldia were welcome this night at the town square, regardless of class or rank, or even the shape of their ears. And so the people came, elves and humans dressed in their best to dine upon the lavish spread of delicacies and wine that flowed freely for them on the Count de L’Enfer’s coin.
Elena sat close to Grinnaux at the table of honour, dressed to the nines in a scarlet gown threaded generously with gold and diamonds that gleamed like crystalline tears, and her ruby necklace displayed prominently upon her neck. Unbeknownst to everyone else as the festivities began in earnest, the darkness gathered its strength. Born of deepest shadows and darkest fathoms, it stirred and festered at the edges. Watching, and waiting, for her.
With her brother by her side and a glass of champagne in hand, she arose from her seat and presented herself before everyone seated for this momentous occasion. The people clapped and cheered, and as much as it pained her to admit it, Sabik was right. They loved him, their Count, more than they could ever love her, their Countess. Even if earlier this year on her birthday, the wines and delicacies flowed all the same, if not more, on her coin.
“Friends, family, and esteemed guests!” Elena declared loudly, to the deafening sound of rapturous cheers and applause. “We’re gathered here, yet again, to celebrate another year of my brother’s rule!”
“Without your strength and counsel,” Grinnaux declared in turn, raising his glass in a toast towards Elena. “This couldn’t be so!”
Once again, to Elena’s disgust, the crowd erupted with applause.

“Thanks, Elena…” Grinnaux said, lowering his voice as he smiled and looked his little sister in the eye. “I’m glad…”
“Me too. Brother.”
Grinnaux had little less than a moment to react, when Elena revealed the dagger concealed within her gown, plunging it right into his chest before delivering a swift kick to his legs that sent him to the floor. The soldiers and servants loyal to her moved in and revealed their hidden weapons, mercilessly cutting down those loyal to the Count of Eldia. And with each death, as bloodcurdling screams and cries of betrayal filled the air, the darkness waiting at the edges grew stronger, rushing into the ensuing battle to consume any and all.
“Elena, you…”
“I’ve waited for this day…” Elena uttered. “Now, I'll claim what’s rightfully mine…”
“I can’t believe it. I knew you’ve gone astray, but this far gone…?”
“YES. SHE IS LOST TO YOU, IS SHE NOT?”
Elena turned around, bloody dagger still in hand. Sabik stood before her, the hapless elven servant girl it utilised as a puppet bearing a wicked grin beaming with malice and triumph. Much to her shock and horror, everyone else lay dead and bloody upon the snow, be they her fellow traitors or those still loyal to Grinnaux’s crown.
“Sabik!”
“Yes, my little Countess…?”
“What’s the meaning of this?” Elena demanded, her crimson eyes opened wide with fury as she jabbed a bloody finger forward at the corpses and the guardian of the Grimoire. “You’re not supposed to kill…”
“You self-righteous fool,” Sabik stated in reply. “Did you think the final chapter would be so easy?”
“I’m the one in control here!”
“Truly, are you?” Sabik asked rhetorically, with a dark grin. “I am a Shadowlord of Amon, guardian of the secrets of her Grimoire. Your little ritual, is also…”

Cackling madly, it snapped its fingers. Shadows, deep like an ocean of black ichor, spilled forth from the corpses tainted and slain, coalescing around the servant girl like embers gathering to form a great inferno. Writhing and swirling, the darkness gathered up into a titanic form of solid shadow easily twice of Elena’s size and height, bearing hulking claws and shoulders adorned with plates of purple chitin inscribed with runes of Enochian that seemed to sap the very light of the world around it. Leaving nothing, but an air of darkness, black as death itself.
“YES…! LONG HAVE I SEARCHED FOR RELEASE FROM HER ACCURSED GRASP. BRAZENLY, BRASHLY… YOU HAVE GIVEN IT TO ME. YOU ARE UNWORTHY OF THIS FINAL CHAPTER, THAT WILL SET ME FREE FOREVER...”
“You’ll regret pulling this on me!” Elena declared with gritted teeth as tears of blood trickled down her crimson eyes, now focused intensely upon the newly-formed Shadowlord. “I’ll kill you, and finish this myself.”

Fragments from the Wildlands
“Your first death is always the hardest.” Miguela was the third-born child of a well-off merchant family and knew from around the time she could speak that her life’s path was already decided. She was to become an Orator, as was Xandran tradition. However, Miguela had an affinity with the magikal arts and somehow found herself studying at the Academy. She did just enough to keep up with her studies but never found the motivation to apply herself and “reach her potential,” as her instructors often said. It was not that Miguela was uninterested in the arts. Rather, she knew her time at the Academy ultimately did not matter. Whenever Miguela returned home, she would become an Orator, and that would be that. Or so she believed until, one day, an opportunity appeared that would change her life. Miguela was offered the chance to join a research team tasked with a mission of the utmost importance to the future of the Five Kingdoms. She could not turn down the prospect of regaining control of her life and finally finding a purpose for herself. Of course, Miguela might soon discover that offers that appear too good to be true are usually fraught with lies. Welcome to Five Kingdoms of Cordizal! Question: What is the Five Kingdoms of Cordizal? I often get asked this type of question about my stories by friends, bloggers, and potential readers. The Five Kingdoms of Cordizal is a high-fantasy epic universe that is the setting for most of my stories. The foundation of the universe is its multicultural, multiracial setting with several sentient races attempting to carve their legacy and survive. The world is fully fleshed out and vibrant with a rich and mysterious history not based on Tolkien mythology. This brings me to magic. To me, magic is an essential part of the fantasy genre, so, of course, there is magic in the Five Kingdoms universe. However, one critical part of the Five Kingdoms universe is that magic is an abundant commodity that is a part of everyday life and not some plot device used to drive the story. In short, the Five Kingdoms universe is the setting of epic fantasy stories with deep characters and world-building. I try to tell as many different types of stories as possible in the universe, and hopefully, you can find something for you in it.
8 98The day they became Mortal
Paladins and Vampires have always been sworn enemies. While the Paladins were blessed with the power of Apollo, made to heal and to wield the power of light itself, the vampires were immortal beings with heightened senses, strength and speed. For centuries the two lived in general peace, while the paladins built their kingdom Appollis, the vampires resided in the sanguine lands of Sareth. All changed however when an unknown paladin poisoned the special water supply of the vampires with Blackrye, a plant that to the vampire's horror removed their right to eternal life. No longer protected from illness or the relentlessness of time the vampires were forced to indulge in more blood. Soon enough a war broke out between the two kingdoms, a war that would cost the life of King Barron of Appollis and the sanity of Queen Diana of Sareth. Their heirs were too young to ascend the throne, forcing the two kingdoms to hastily form a truce until both princes were old enough to rule their lands. Five years after the blood war Arrin of Appollis and Ophyr of Sareth rule their respective kingdoms, despite having been kings for a few years and heavily disliking each other due to their past, they decided to keep the truce in place. What happens however when Arrin decides to kidnap the vampire king after he unfortunately stumbled upon Appollonian terrain?

That day, they didn't know what they had lost. Izuku Yagi was born quirkless. His sister, Izumi Yagi, on the other hand, had an extremely powerful quirk that could match One For All―her father's quirk. While his parents praised Izumi, Izuku was mindlessly neglected and shoved aside like he was nonexistent. After several years of physical and psychological abuse, neglect, and rejection, he finally was fed up. ℹ️ Extra Information ℹ️-Cover is mine.-With point-of-view changes, the time can also change; although, I try to make it apparent whenever the time has been changed.-Please point out any mistakes or plot holes you find because I want this to be as good and accurate as humanly possible (however, with some plot holes-if it's been too long-I might not be able to fix the issue)-If you're wondering why I'm re-uploading everything, it's because I edit any mistakes I notice (albeit, incredibly slowly 😅).Started: September 30th, 2020Ended: December 26th, 2020Latest Updates: [edited] "Chapter 8: Who Was Master?", August 12tg, 2022 (7:59am, PST)
