《The Elementalist》Chapter 12 Teaser + Edits

Tide quickly regained his composure and realised he was already back in the cave where the life threatening battle had gone down. He quickly checked his stat screen again. He was pleasantly surprised to see that his Agility, Endurance and Strength all increased by one.
Apparently, in the training dimension stats could be gained at a higher rate. He probably could have gained twenty or so stat points if he just focused on physical training. That would valence out his stats pretty well.
Tide stood there for a moment being some broken character, like a close combat mage. He was woken from his dream of wearing heavy armor and slashing monsters all the while casting spells, by a pitiful whimpering.
Tide turned to see Onyx curled up in a ball pitifully. He instantly rushed to the injured pup. Tide quickly analyzed the situation.
Onyx had a broken paw, a fractured rib or two, and some heavy internal damage. Tide realised he didn’t have anything on him that could help his condition and began to panic.
Tide forced the panic down though and began to search the cave. Next to him was a large puddle of slime and in the middle of it was the large rock. He ran over to the acidic slime and ignored the pain as he began to sift through it praying to the gods. Soon he found what he was looking for. A thumb sized black orb.
This sphere was the slimes monster core. As magical monster began to gain strength, the mana concentration in their bodies would increase drastically. In order to contain that power and prevent it from burning out their bodies monsters developed mana cores that stored all their excess mana. This would allow them to have an extra reserve when they need it and allow them to save up power to attempt an evolution.

Tide quickly took the small monster core and forced it down Onyx’s throat. Onyx was to weak to resist him and swallowed the monster core.
Sitting back Tide wiped off his hands and waited. As soon as the monster core landed in Onyx’s stomach it began to radiate a large amount mana.
Onyx’s body began to greedily suck up the energy, like an alcoholic drinking wine. The energy coursed through his body, rejuvenating his flesh and helping to heal his internal wounds. Soon Onyx’s condition began to stabilize and he passed out.
Tide let out a sigh of a relief as he saw the core was working. He quickly summoned a golem to stand guard at entrance to the boss cave. The boss wouldn't respawn for another three days and the only threat was if a mother slime wandered in.
It seemed like it would take a while for Onyx to recover, so Tide made his way back over towards the slime to check for any other loot.
After giving all of the slime a thorough search he found a large slime core shard and a gauntlet. The gauntlet was nothing special just a jet black piece of armor with pretty good defense specs. Sadly, it was pretty useless to Tide. If he put it on, the gauntlet would hamper his ability to use his hand and slow his casting speed. Of course he could put it on one hand and csat with the other but it was better to just have both hand available.
Throwing the core and gauntlet into his ring, Tide went back over to Onyx and sat down.
He had just received a large increase in power due to the training dimension and wanted to see what his new limits were.

At least until he and three classmates are unrealistically transported to Nibiru, a legendary fantasy world ruled by mythological gods and inhabited by strange races and nightmarish monsters. Spence can walk again, which is good considering he will have to use his online fantasy role-playing game experience to lead the dysfunctional party on the gods’ quest and summon the courage to finally stand up to Trey, his worst bully from school. Success means survival and earning respect and acceptance, especially from Morgan, his attractive but snarky Goth classmate. But Spence discovers Nibiru is more a world of science fiction than fantasy, and they are just unwitting pawns in a deadly scheme of the gods. If completing the quest doesn’t result in their return to Earth, the party may have to do the unthinkable and challenge the gods themselves.
