Summary of the 1st Arc: Boyhood.
(Prologue 'Not All Heroes are Sung' ~ Chapter IV: A Love that Cannot Be)

A woman attempts to flee the Gulf of Misra in the Caliphate of Camarilla with a child, an act that the Caliph himself has forbidden for 13 days. Yet she manages to put her baby in a basket and send him across the Middle Sea before she is captured. She named her son "Hadi" (which means Leader or Guide) after the man who helped him escape. She left a necklace with his name written in her language.
Hadi demonstrates a strange connection with Spirits, and they save him from drowning. They deliver him in the care of of the Duke and Duchess De Sforza, who had no children at that moment. "Verano" is the name that they give to Hadi.
Verano is raised with the uptight Marzia and the lazy Arnaud Jr. Their father is rough and often uses physical threats to incentivize their children to mature and follow rules. As an upset for everyone in the Duchy, Verano discovers his capacity to bend Fire (unlikely for a boy with no physical traits of the land) as he defends his brother Arnaud from his father.
Years pass and King Heinrich of Aarchen, the ruler of the Kingdom of Aarchen to which the Duchy De Sforza belongs, gathers an army to go defend the King of Alba from the vicious Northmen, waterbending Sea Raiders. King Heinrich hopes to conquer the vote from the King of Alba so he becomes Emperor of the Holy Flame someday and unites all Fire Kingdoms to expel the Caliphate of Camarilla off the continent.
Arnaud Jr and Verano show excitement to the idea of discovering new lands and adventuring but Marzia doesn't allow them to go. Verano discovers that they are her only friends and she even confesses to have deeper feelings for Verano than those of friendship. Yet a possible relationship is a taboo since they were both raised as siblings. Marzia gives Verano the sword MAV (Marzia-Arnaud-Verano) as his 17th birthday gift and asks him to promisse her that he'll come back by the first snow.

As Verano and Arnaud depart to the north in search of adventure, the Duke sees his sons' naiveté with contempt:
"They are walking into hell with smiles on their faces."

The Voice of the World
Jason Elric used to be an ordinary college student living in the heart of San Francisco. He had a part time job, he played online games with friends he got along moderately well with, and he earned reasonably good grades. The worst he really had to worry about in life was turning in his coursework on time and not being late to class. Now, though? Now fighting for his life and running from a horde of giant frogs that want to make him their next meal is just another Tuesday. Thanks to a summoning ritual gone terribly right, Jason has found himself trapped in a world eerily similar to the role playing games games he used to play for fun. Unfortunately for the now ex-college student, everything happening around him is terrifyingly real and if he wants to survive, he’ll have to figure out how to exploit the system for his benefit before it’s too late. The Voice of the World is the first part of what is planned to be a multi-book, Isekai LitRPG story with crafting elements, set in the fantasy world known as Verdania. This is my first time posting online for public consumption, so bear with me as I work to find a style that people like. While I may occasionally write scenes that may deal with heavy concepts, expect this story to be primarily light hearted high fantasy. There will be a lot of common fantasy tropes involved, as this story got its start as a simple practice exercise, rather than any plan to actually post it. However, it’s grown on me, so I felt it’s worth sharing after all. Thus, if you’re looking for more serious/original/unusual stories, you might want to look elsewhere. For the rest of you, feel free to leave suggestions, as well as to point out grammar and spelling mistakes; I’ll do my best to make edits to correct them. I do my own editing currently, and it’s easy to miss things when you know what’s supposed to be there, so such call outs are highly encouraged. Content TLDR: No harems, probably no romance (unless it makes sense for the story later on) (it did, eventually), definitely no sex (keeping this PG-13 or close to it), limited profanity. Does/Will contain mixes of magic and technology (think Warhammer, Final Fantasy); copious amounts of blue tables; race, gender, and sexual equality concepts; crafting sequences; and (slightly, but not overbearingly) strong protagonists. If you don’t like these things, go elsewhere instead of downvoting people for content instead of writing quality. Update Time currently varies, due to personal injury, but the goal is 1/week on Wednesdays, with a possible smaller chapter on weekends if time/health permits.

The Bracelet I Got Was More Than I Bargained For
Andrew and his friends, Isaac, Lisbeth, and Cameron meet a shady man on the way home from school. This man promises them adventure on another world, called Calorin, if they are willing to help him with an experiment. This experiment requires the use of a bracelet, one that cannot be removed once bonded to but will give them abilities such as healing or enhanced strength. Thanks to some peer pressure Andrew reluctantly agrees to join the experiment. The friends are soon on their way to Calorin but Andrew notices feelings coming from the bracelet, ones that want nothing to do with the strange man. It is just before they arrive at their destination that the bracelet changes everything for Andrew and he finds himself separated from his friends and the strange man. Stuck in the middle of a forest Andrew will need to find out where he is, how to find his friends, and why the bracelet has been acting the way it has. Author's Note:This story is a sidequel/prequel to Artifice: Tools of the Gods. As it only has one or two connected characters there is no need to read one or the other to understand them.
