《When Plush comes to Shove》Chapter 44 - Earthquake in the bathroom

When morning comes all of us get up-
“Good morning!”
*grunt* x2
-With varying success.
“How the hell do you… have so much energy…?” Asks Lizz and Shiona just shrugs her shoulders.
Lizz then crawls into the book and then comes out holding a steaming grilled cheese sandwich.
“How is it that all the food coming from the book is still warm by the way? Not to be rude but you don’t look like the type of person who can cook…”
Lizz lazily looks up from her sandwich, eyes still half closed and says one word-
“Magic.”
-And then resumes eating.
I take out a sandwich for myself and one for Shiona.
“I’m not hungry yet, we did wake up in the middle of the night and eat after all.”
When she says she’s not hungry Lizz looks at her like she’s some sort of freak, however she soon has to look away as she doesn’t seem to be able to direct the sandwich to her mouth without looking at it when she’s just woken up.
I look around the room and finally remember that we’re inside the elves carriage and start worrying about if the saw us using the books, however thankfully I see all free of them laying knocked out on the table, Shro having a puddle of drool around his mouth. I look out the front window and I’m greeted by the still goblin covered rusty armor wearing horses from yesterday, oddly enough they’re still standing and judging by how the grass below them hasn’t been trampled they must’ve been standing still the entire time we’ve been here, however long that may have been.
“By the way.” Lizz says after having pulled out another sandwich when hers disappeared.
“Yeah?”
“We’re running low on food, we’re probly gonna have to stock up when we get to a town, either that or we start hunting and cooking ourselves…”
When Lizz says that I can feel Shiona behind me freezing up so I look back to her in worry, however when I look at her I see her eyes shining more brightly through her mask than ever before.
“Shiona? You okay?”
“What? Ah, yes! But this means you’ll cook again right!?”
‘Oh, right.’ I remembered that before Shiona’s… accident, she always used to come over to my place during the weekends, using it as a way to not have to eat her parents more… exotic cooking, safe to say that when I visited her place as a change of pace I whole heartedly began to understand what she meant and pity her.

‘Guess somewhere along the lines it must’ve changed from just avoiding slurping the eyes out of whole fish heads to her enjoying my cooking.’
“Wait you can cook!?” Shouts Lizz, waking up all three of the elves in the process.
Fallis sighs and complains about having her dreams of prince charming interrupted, Shro gets up and takes Rosh’s place at the swivels chair while Rosh tries to get from the table but falls down to the ground and falls asleep again.
The carriage starts moving and Fallis stands up, she walks to the corner of the carriage, to a door which we didn’t see before and exits the carriage, or so we thought but after a while we hear the sound of someone flushing a toilet and a few seconds later the sound of someone turning on a shower, about half an hour later she comes back out wearing a bathrobe.
“Hey…” Says Shiona timidly.
“Yeah?”
“Can I… Can I borrow your shower?”
“Sure? Just go ahead, there’s a couple of towels hanging on the wall to borrow, just remember the lock the door” Fallis then hands her a small black device which looks just like the one Rosh used to open the carriage.
“Thank you!”
Shiona then runs through the door which Fallis came out of, passing next to her and yet again letting me notice the difference of all of our heights.
“How does that even work?” Asks Lizz.
Fallis eyes then start glimmering and she bombards Lizz with long sentences and words, each sounding more made up than the last about how the elves have learned to refine energy into a more efficient and usable state which has allowed them to create much more powerful magic tools, one of which being the door leading to the bathroom.
While she's explaining this she walks up the door and-
-She lifts the entire door by its frame.
“See? This here door has been loaded with the same magic as that there book.” At this Lizz breaks into cold sweat as she realized that Fallis saw her take food out of the book earlier, however luckily enough the elves seem to think that’s all it can do.
“And inside are enough generators to keep the room almost entirely self-sufficient, the fact that this new energy lets us create magic which uses less fuel also helps.”

“Hey Fallis.” Says Rosh who seems to have woken up while Fallis was talking. “There's someone in there right? You probably shouldn't pick it up while she's showering.”
“Oh calm down you worrywart, it's not like I'm shaking it around.”
While she says that she shakes the door as to emphasise her point of not having done it previously and we hear a scream from inside.
“Ah.” Is all Fallis could say as she then quickly puts the door back and walks into another corner.
After a few seconds Shiona comes out of the door.
“Do you guys have any more towels? That earthquake made them all fall in the shower.” And as she says this she looks really annoyed.
“He did it.” Says Fallis and points to Shro who has since lied back down and started pretending to be asleep.
“Did what? But another towel please.”
Fallis opens a new door on her side of the carriage.
“We don't have any more towels but follow me and we've got something else to dry you with.”
They both step inside and I hear something that sounds like a hairdryer get turned on.
After a few awkward moments of Lizz still not being sure of how to react to her mistake Fallis comes back outside while dragging a reluctant green fluffy shape behind her.
“Come on!”
“No!”
“You're going to have to come out from there sooner or later!”
“NO!”
The green shape proves to be Shiona, her feathers standing on end as though she had been rubbed with a balloon all over.
‘It's kind of cute.’ I think as it reminds me of a small animal.
And somewhere along the lines Lizz seems to have snapped out of it as when I turn towards her I see her laying on the net bed and wheezing while clutching her stomach.
With a *pok* I flick her on the forehead, however this just causes her to roll half a rotation and she keeps laying there, half laughing and half wheezing.
Fallis the pulls out a brush an oddly shaped brush from somewhere and starts brushing Shiona, eventually finishing with both Shiona's hair and feathers going sleekly along her body.
“Hey, you lot.” Shouts Shro from what I've started thinking of as a driver seat. “We'll be going close to a town soon, any reason you guys have for us to take a little detour and enter it?”
“Yes!” Shouts Lizz back. “We need food!”
“Alright, we'll be there soon so get ready what you need.”
Fallis then walks into the door with the drying machine and comes back out with a set of folded up clothing.
“Shiona your clothes are still wet from the… earthquake, so borrow these for the moment.”
“Really? I mean, it's just that these feathers do a good job of covering me on their own, but still, thanks, you’re really nice!”
As she says the last part I can see Fallis’s eyes be filled with guilt while also catching a glimpse of satisfaction in Shiona’s, proving to me that she knows exactly whose fault it was for what happened to her in the shower, as well as also proving that it was entirely her intention to guilt trip Fallis.
The clothes she was given were very similar to the ones she wore before, which makes sense since that's also what the elves wore, only difference being that due to their height difference the shirt looked like a dress, while the pants on the other hand were just the right length due to the shape of Shiona’s legs.
The arms of the shirt had been cut off by Fallis and their opening made larger to accommodate Shiona’s wings.
“I'll stop the carriage a bit away from the city, wouldn't want them to attack us when they see all the goblins on us, also I heard this place closes its gates at nightfall so try to be back out before that.”
After Shro says that Rosh stand up from the floor, folds back in the bed we slept on and opens the door.

An inhuman MC who has no interest in pesky things like romance or growing a conscience. Blue boxes, and a DnD style system messily mashed together with several other systems.
