“Hang on, I know what to do” Says Lizz before she flies into the book, leaving me to my thoughts as we keep moving forwards with the help of Cy’s machine.

‘Really now, a motorcycle of all things…’

The machines eye suddenly turns towards me.

[Motorcycle?]

I’m confused for a fraction of a second before understanding

*sigh* ‘Why does it always have to be mind readers…’

After sulking for a bit I decide I might as well explain to her as a way to waste time, it’s better than just sitting around at least.

“A motorcycle is a vehicle where me and Plush are from, it’s kind of like this machine but it only has two wheels, it goes very fast.”

[Hmm…]

“Wait what a- *crash*

After I had said that the machine had started lifting most of its wheels into the air, however it wasn’t able to keep its balance and we all fell over.

[This is harder than I’d thought… Let’s try again!]

The machine the starts standing itself up again six of the legs which had wheels attached to them and using the other two to put me and Plush back on the seats, this time putting me in the front seat and Plush in the back seat.

“Wait! Try the two wheeled thing some other time, how about I tell you some of the other things that motorcycles have going for them instead!?”

[Ah…]

It seems Cy finally realized she got a bit over excited and takes a few seconds to calm down.

[S-sure, let’s do that…]

I explain about rubber wheels, I don’t explain rubber or how to make it, just what properties it has and what having air filled wheels does for stability.

“Testing… Testing… Hello?”

Suddenly I hear a voice coming from Plush so I turn around.

“Can you hear me Shiona? Hello?”

When I see Plush he looks different, the purple cloth had turned off white and the red fur had turned golden and become more sleek.

“Plush?”

“So you can hear me! And it’s not Plush right now, it’s Lizz, I decided to take over until he wakes up, it just took a while since he wasn’t awake to help me, then again only reason I was able to take over at all was due to him not being awake as well.”

‘Come to think of it he did become a lot smaller as well, but then...’

“What happened to the book when you shrunk?”

Lizz turns around and shows that the book is still attached to their back, having shrunk as much as Plush’s body had.

The machine then throws us both off, Lizz catches herself and hovers in the air, however I’m not quite used enough to flying yet to do that, the machine then turn back into an orb and rolls itself into the now opened book with the spider like machine still inside.

“Hey! What was that for!?” I shout, not really expecting Cy to hear me.

A small thin black tentacle like thing stretches out from the book, on it is a single eye.

[I will improve the vehicle.]

It then goes back inside the book, leaving me and Lizz.

*sigh* “... I guess we should get going then?”

“Sure.”

We then take to the skies and follow the map, every so often Cy would poke out a small machine to ask questions along the way.

-=Plush POV=-

When I come to I find myself laying on the bed inside of Lizz’s apartment.

‘Lizz?’

I then feel a slight pulling sensation, and when I stop resisting it I find myself outside again.

In the air.

“Hang on, I gotcha!” Says Shiona as she swoops down after me to catch me.

“!”

However since I had already started phasing myself to brace for impact with the ground and I was unable to stop myself in time when she grabbed me, as well as forgetting that I can solidify the air, making me to fall through her and into the ground.

After I emerge from the soil I see Shiona looking at me with concern.

“Are you okay? And not just from the fall I mean.”

“Yeah I’m fine, I just needed to sleep for a bit…”

I then hear Cy’s voice from behind me, looking that way I see a black eyeball machine poking out from the book’s pages on a stem.

[I’m done with the vehicle, I’ll send it back out again.]

The eyeball retracts, the book opens, and out rolls a large glossy black sphere, the sphere had a white zigzagging line going across the middle as well as, the orb also had smaller black balls attached to it where the corners would have been if it was a cube.

[Initializing.]

The orb splits in two, the halves fall over and are now standing on the four orbs that they each had, also revealing a pair of red soft chairs, one in each, their backrests going above where the orb split.

[Have a seat,]

Both me and Shiona sit down in one of the halves each.

“These are really comfortable.” Says Shiona.

I agree with her, however the chair was a bit big for me.

The four orbs at the bottom of the halves we sat in then started spinning, at first we stay in place, the wheel substitutes only kicking up a cloud of dust behind me, but after a second or so we blast of at a high speed.

Looking at Shiona’s half I see that she looks like he’s screaming, however I’m unable to hear her due to the wind.

After a few minutes we slow down and come to a halt.

[... Out of energy…]

A pair of blue hands then stretch out and grab both of the vehicles, making them disappear and causing us to fall to the ground with two thuds.

“Again with that!” Shouts Shiona angrily.

“Well there’s not a whole lot left to do other than to just keep going then. By the way, did Lizz explain what happened when she possessed me?”

“Yeah, a bit.”

“Well with how she sounded when she left I doubt she’d be willing to come back out again to help me fly, and Cy’s machine is recharging whatever it runs on… So I’m either walking or sliding, but neither of them go the same speed as you when you fly…”

While I’m stuck in deep thought Shiona sneaks up on me and grabs my by one of my shoulders using one of her talons, she then moves her wings and we take off into the skies.

As we were going through the skies we talked more about this world and what I’d done in it so far.

‘By the way book, is there any way for you to see what skills and abilities Shiona has?’

At my question the books starts shaking, like it was shaking its head in a negative response. In fact-

“Hey! Stop that!”

-It shakes us so much that it becomes hard for Shiona to keep us in the air for a moment.

‘But I guess that means we’ll have to wait until we get to an adventurers’ guild, but I don’t really feel like stopping anywhere on this trip, at least not until we get to Eastern Lake city.’

“Oh yeah, Plush, you said Cy was one of your familiars right? Did you ever actually check what you can do if you borrow her powers?”

“... No…” I say as I look down.

“Well why not take a look now then?”

‘Book?’

Blue strips of paper appear yet again.

Familiars

Due to various circumstances these creatures have become one with the Book of Knowledge, you can either summon them as companions or temporarily gain powers depending on the familiar.

‘Cy Tha Adel? I didn’t know the T stood for Tha...’

‘Alright, I understand. But book, could you show me Cy’s page?’

Behemoth Spider (Cy Tha Adel)

You can summon this mutated human to serve as a companion in battle or everyday tasks.

While borrowing the powers of a behemoth spider you will be able to communicate with arachnids, most arachnids will also sense the origin of their heritage in you, actively approach you and treat you favorably.

I’m at a loss of words… If I had blood throughout my face most of it would no doubt drain away now.

“Well? What does it say?”

The book extends the slip of paper up to Shiona without me even asking it to and she reads it.

Suddenly she descends to the ground and lets me down.

She walks off a small distance, Lizz flies out of the book and follows her, they then both take a deep breath.

And then they start laughing uncontrollably.
