Chapter Six [ 6 ]
Dearest Brother
Proofreaded
Moments shortly after having their breakfast, two humans and one cat returned to their separate activities.
Xiao Long laid idly on the ground, a hand supporting the back of his head while the other patted his slightly bloated stomach that exposed itself to the air.
While Xiao Long was relaxing, Li Feng slipped into the kitchen to wash dishes with little Yun Xue creeping up behind him.
In less than a minute, he was already done washing the dishes. A large portion of the reason as to why it only took less than a minute was because he didn’t really need to wash anything.
The dishes was already cleaned thanks to both Yun Xue and Xiao Long’s hard work. They ate everything to the last bit, licking the remnants of the delicious food prepared by Li Feng.
After washing the dishes with the water used to wash the rice[ 1 ], Li Feng then proceeded to wipe the table.
“Ahh! I’m late!” During this time, Xiao Long’s high pitched voice rang all the way across the living room, instantly attracting two pairs of curious gazes.
Xiao Long shot awake from his position, his silhouette flashed clumsily back and forth the confines of the small apartment, his little feet constantly on the move.
After working up a little sweat, he topped it all off by placing his prized teddy bear plush toy above the neatly folded blanket.
A contented smile spreading across his adorable face as he nodded with satisfaction, Xiao Long then turned to Li Feng “My Dearest Brother! I’m going out to play with my friends~”
“Hmm? Okay, remember to return before night falls, pay attention when crossing the road, beware of strangers, did you rememb-“
Li Feng immediately reminded as though it were a reflex as he continued wiping down the table.
As if he had memorized a script, his words flowed smoothly without pausing for any breaths, saying it all it one single breath.
Without realizing it, Li Feng had already turned into a full time nanny.
His reminders are always the same, exact words and phrases that Xiao Long had to bear with every single day. To the point where he could repeat what his brother had said without even thinking about it.
"Yes my Dearest Brother~ I'll head out now~ Hehe~" Xiao Long smiled brightly, replying in an extremely happy tone without the slightest hint of annoyance.
Judging with standards of the modern society today, Xiao Long’s reply would probably shock most adults, especially those with children of their own because most children his age would act differently.
Li Feng simply chuckled in response, his eyes filled with adoration for the obedient little fellow standing before him.
Not showing surprise to the unexpected reply, his face never even had the slightest of fluctuations as if he had already predicted it.
Sfx Bam! Ka-chik~
Under the onslaught of Li Feng’s unrelenting nagging, Xiao Long had finally managed to escape the apartment without acquiring any life threatening injuries.
The unsteady shuffle of panicked footsteps ceased along with the sound of the locking of the door.
Looking over at the closed door, Li Feng shook his head and resumed the chores at hand.
His whistling resounded in the seemingly empty apartment, occasionally dancing along to the tune as he eased through the daily chores without breaking a single sweat.
The entire apartment seemed to have undergone a significant change under Li Feng’s magical hands. Placing both hands on his waist, Li Feng nodded with a satisfaction after he examined the state of the apartment.

Strangely enough, a common trait of both the previous owner and Li Feng had was that both of them loved doing chores, not because they had a disorder but because it helped to sooth the mind.
“It’s time to take a bath..” Wiping away the fine layer of sweat on his forehead, Li Feng shot a glance towards the clock hung on the wall and muttered softly.
At the moment he stripped off the clothing, Li Feng took a deep breath as he felt like a bird being released from the cage and into the freedom.
Feeling much more unhindered as the clothes on him greatly restricted his movements.
Ah.. No wonder they felt so tight... Looks like I’ll need to earn some money soon….Li Feng lamented inwardly as the memories of the previous owner flashed past.
Turns out that the previous owner was an extremely cheap person, not because he loved money but because of the poor living conditions they were in.
The clothes that Li Feng just stripped off were bought from the night market several years ago.
The size of the clothing didn’t fit, the cheap materials used made it even worse so it wasn’t strange that Li Feng felt extremely uncomfortable.
Picking up the clothes, Li Feng limped towards the bathroom with only a pair of boxer briefs on, not paying any heed to the kitten behind him.
“Yun Xue, be a good girl and stay here okay? I’ll bring you out afterwards.” Stopping dead in his tracks, Li Feng turned around and said, his tone full of helplessness.
The kitten in question had an extremely aggrieved expression, like a scorned wife being abandoned by her husband.
Ahh…I doubt if she even understands what I am saying.. Li Feng sighed inwardly.
Ever since he brought Yun Xue home, she had been sticking to him like glue. Always in his shadows like a begrudged ghost seeking vengeance.
Whenever he told her to stay still, Yun Xue would cast him the same pitiful expression.
Even if he could kill without twitching a single eyelid, Li Feng couldn’t help but to soften up when paired up against this harmless kitten.
Even the heart of the hardest of statues would break apart from that pitiful expression, not to mention a human like him.
Silently praying, Li Feng shot back with a pitiful expression of his own as he stared at the kitten, holding desperately onto the one percent of hope in his heart that she would understand his words.
“Meow!!!!” Yun Xue’s expression changed immediately after hearing the second part of his sentence, her cat call full of vitality compared to before.
Contrary to his expectations, Yun Xue had miraculously agreed to stay for the first time, causing Li Feng to widen both of his eyes in astonishment.
What an intelligent kitten..
Li Feng thought inwardly, his eyes flashed a trace of shock but was soon converged. As expected of a seasoned veteran, his heart soon calmed down.
Not even two days have passed since he had taken her in yet the shocks she had provided him was enough to scare someone to death.
Although animals that were capable of understanding human speech existed, even the smartest of animals would take at least a couple of months before comprehending a word or a command.
Based off appearances, Yun Xue looked like a kitten barely a few weeks old but was capable of achieving what other animals couldn’t was unheard of.
Rather than an animal, Yun Xue acted similarly to a human child. Capable to expressing her feelings outwards, even to the extent of understanding complex human speech!

Looking at the white ball of fur that trotted around merrily with her short legs, Li Feng smiled bitterly as he shook his head.
If Yun Xue was human, her intelligence would probably make her famous throughout the world.

Xiao Long’s POV
Looking at the slightly rusted door, a feeling of warmth surged through Xiao Long’s body as he breathed raggedly.
“Haa…Haaa…Haaa.. * Gulp * R-running is not a speciality of mine… I will keep that in mind.. Let’s hope that I am not too late for dinner…” Wheezing, Xiao Long managed to squeeze those words through the gaps of his teeth.
Resting for a brief moment, Xiao Long lifted the hands off his kneecaps and straightened his arched back.
Shaking the dripping wet umbrella, Xiao Long leaned it’s metallic body against the wall to dry. Because this neighbourhood was a relatively safe place, he doubts that anyone would try to steal so he was perfectly fine with leaving it there.
Xiao Long then patted his uniform as he swept back and forth his attire, making sure that there wasn’t any dirt lingering on his outfit.
If my attire isn’t sullied, that means my Dearest Brother can skip washing one attire~
“Hehe.. There is none~ Hehe..” He smiled dumbly while shoving both hands into the pockets of his shorts.
Sfx Cling~ Cling~
A metallic sound clinked in the left pocket, feeling the hard material, Xiao Long yanked it out in one breath.
Under the flickering light bulb that hung off the ceiling, the set of metal keys gleamed coldly. Alongside the keys, a Doraemon keychain waved towards him.
Looking at the cartoon character, a smile floated onto the surface of his adorable face.
Although there may be many that disregards the key chain by its dirty appearance, a trash to someone could be another’s treasure. Likewise, this key chain was a treasure to Xiao Long as it was a gift from his Dearest Brother.
Rubbing the sides of the key chain, he then moved his sight to the keys beside it and searched for a particular key.
Holding onto a single key, Xiao Long lifted his hand and stabbed it right into the knob, twisting it, a “ Ka-Chik “ sound rang crisply in his ears.
Pushing the door open, Xiao Long inhaled before shouting out loud. Right after he opened his eyes, he witnessed an unbelievable scene!
His Dearest Brother was wrestling with an unknown woman on the ground! His Dearest Brother must have been seduced!
Shit!
Who the fuck was that woman?
What should I do!
His small mind churned rapidly for ideas, his eyes met up with the two adults that wrestled into a ball. Their eyes were completely overcame by shock, they movements stopped as if someone pressed the pause button.
Unable to come up with any solutions, he did what he thought was best! Pretending not to see anything!
“ I AM BACK!... Good evening Sister, my older brother and kitty cat, I am going to take a bath so please carry on with what you are doing..”
Masking his face with a bright smile, Xiao Long shouted as he pretended not to see anything and walked straight past the cat that was currently engrossed in watching whatever the two was doing.
Placing his Doraemon backpack on the ground, he grabbed a change of clothes and rushed for the bathroom.
Dinner Time
An awkward atmosphere filled the entire room, feeling the tension, the adults sat silently before the dining table other than the kitten who was gorging greedily.
Xiao Long ignored the embarrassed couple sitting on the opposite side and ate away at the food.
The food my Dearest Brother makes is and will always be the best. I seriously doubt anyone would cook better than my Dearest Brother, even the school cafeteria pales in comparison to him..
He thought inwardly, a sense of pride arose within him, swelling up like an inflated balloon.
Looking from the corner of his eyes, Xiao Long examined the woman sitting coyly beside his Dearest Brother.
The woman named Feng Ling looks pretty indeed, I’ll give her that at least but having just a “ Pretty “ face doesn’t cut it.
A pretty woman without any skillsets is just an obstructive flower vase used solely for decoration purposes, and our Li Family does not need one.
With a pork grasped tightly within his small hands, Xiao Long stabbed mercilessly into his favourite octopus shaped hotdogs which his brother made.
His beady eyes turned rapidly as a trace of slyness flashed through. Sitting on his Doraemon cushioned seat, his brain churned violently for a plan.
Woman! Neither my dearest brother nor I are easy men! If you want to get with my brother, you’ll have to step over my dead body!
Like a warrior, He summoned the Chinese courage that flowed in his bloodstream, raising his sword high up in the air as he stood up against thousands of troops that marched menacingly towards him.
His imagination running wild as he chewed on the remains of the octopus shaped hotdog, it was as if he could hear the faint agonizing wails and screams resonating within his mind.
Swallowing down the food, Xiao Long’s hands reached out for the cup of milk near him. With a flex of his hands, the cup toppled over the table as he slipped.
Sfx Splash~ Crash~
As he intended, the cup fell into the direction of Feng Ling, the milk whirling violently like crashing waves.
On “ Accident ”, the cup toppled over and it just so “ Happened ” to fall onto her creamy white thighs.
Falling to the ground, he mustered up his Oscar award winning acting skills and wailed as pitifully as he could.
“Uwaaaa… * Sniffles * My milk~ Wuuuu… It hurts…”
Beads of crystal-like tears orbited around the edges of Xiao Long’s round eyes, falling to the ground one after the other.
Almost immediately after the milk splashed onto her thigh, Feng Ling rushed over to Xiao Long without paying any heed to her soiled clothes.
“Ahh! Are you alright?!” Feng Ling’s sweet voice rang out worriedly, her alluring eyes swept across his little body for any injuries without a single suspicion.
Feeling her worry filled gaze sweeping across his body, Xiao Long’s pupils shrunk as he tried squeezing out a couple more tears.
She was actually worried about me eh.. Xiao Long thought disappointingly.
Damn vixen… Don’t get conceited from passing the first test! This is just the beginning of your nightmare woman! Muahahha!
Following the first “Accident ”, a string of other “ Accidents ” soon followed, all of them strangely occurring at the same table in the span of thirty or so minutes.
Although unnatural, no one thought anything of it due to Xiao Long’s self-proclaimed, superb acting skills.
But right before Feng Ling left, she casted a meaningful glance towards Xiao Long while the corners of her lips curved up into a beautiful smile that would probably lead thousands of men to madness.
Although this would be an instant kill for most men, it was nothing for Xiao Long but when he turned his vision to his side, the corners of his mouth twitched.
Li Feng was stunned by Feng Ling’s beautiful smile as he stood there stupidly like a moron.
Ugh… What a formidable opponent…As expected of a vixen..
Damn!
Without a hint of fear, Xiao Long who was standing behind Li Feng met up with her smile, his lips curled up in disdain.
You wanna fight bitch!
Lets do this!
These two stared daggers at each other while Li Feng was oblivious to all of it.
“Bye bye Auntie~” Emphasizing on the word “ Auntie ”, Xiao Long faked a bright smile as he waved cutely towards that Feng Ling.
“It’s Feng Ling Jie Jie! Not Auntie!” Li Feng reminded as he sent Feng Ling off in his wheelchair.
“It’s fine, Xiao Long is just a Kid haha..” Feng Ling responded in kind, to his Dearest Brother while emphasizing on the word “ Kid ”..
“Tch~” After the door closed shut, Xiao Long’s face sunk down as he clicked his tongue.
That darned vixen passed all of my tests… Well.. I guess I’ll accept her for now then find other women for my dearest brother..
The emperors on the television shows own multiple wives anyway, so why can’t my Dearest Brother? Kekeke..
Sitting on the ground, Xiao Long flipped through some other Sister In Law candidates in his head, staring blankly into space completely oblivious of the stare he got from Yun Xue.
“Hmm! How about my pretty teacher? She is kind and gentle, definitely a good candidate hahaha!” Xiao Long’s eyes lit up as an image of a beauty floated within his mind.
“What beauty?” A familiar voice soon snapped him back to reality, looking towards the direction of the voice, Xiao Long saw his Dearest Brother’s smiling face.
“Hehe~ It’s nothin~ Let’s go to sleep! * Yawn *” smiling innocently, he ran towards his futon.
Next Morning
Laying absentmindedly on the crumpled blanket beneath him, Xiao Long fiddled with the teddy bear in his arms.
Sweeping his eyes across the apartment, his Dearest Brother entered his sights.
Even when he is injured, he is still so hardworking... Xiao Long inwardly, his face smeared with bitterness as he watched Li Feng’s back.
Xiao Long was near the point of breakdown when he saw his Dearest Brother moving around in a wheelchair.
In regards to Xiao Long, his Dearest Brother wasn’t just a “ Kin ” to him. To him, Li Feng was his Brother, his Mother and his Father all at once especially since he was raised and fed single-handedly by Li Feng.
Acting like an emotional support, Li Feng was the pillar that held up his world. Even if his Dearest Brother had gotten the slightest of injuries like a small scratch or even a flu.
Xiao Long would worry even more than the patient himself, so imagine the shock when he discovered Li Feng moving about in a wheelchair, his fragile heart had almost broken into a thousand pieces.
Only after a long series of repeated explanation did Li Feng manage to calm Xiao Long down.
Looking at his hardworking brother at work, he felt as if his small heart was being gripped and squeeze by an invisible pair of hands.
As if the pain had triggered a switch, memories that he treasured and buried deep into his heart had started to resurface.
Like a cinematic record, the memories of the past flashed before Xiao Long’s eyes, vivid images containing the times he spent together with his Dearest Brother revealed themselves before my very eyes.
For as long as he had known, Li Feng had been there for every waking moment of Xiao Long’s.
Because they were orphans, they only had each other to depend on so both parties acted as emotional supports for each other.
Due to that reason alone, Li Feng’s silhouettes appeared in almost every memory he had dating all the way back when he was still a child.
Waking up to the aroma of food every morning and ending the day with the dinner, both of which his Dearest Brother had prepared.
Sharing food with each other, sharing toys with each other, taking baths together and sleeping together. That was how they spend each and every day, filled with the warmth of home.
So much that their bonds would have exceeded those of a parent and child.
Just like how there are two sides to a coin, with light comes darkness, with happiness comes sadness.
Xiao Long had been really insensitive in the past, his personality was a hundred and eighty degrees different from the current.
He had realized that he had something that differed to the other children of his age.
Parents.
Watching the backs of their classmates entering and leaving school with their parents with a happy smile smeared across their faces.
Being bragged to about the thing they had gotten from their parents, be it the latest toys, gadgets or trips they have gone to.
Having their teacher rub salt onto the wound by them reading out stories about how noble parents are.
Being humiliated simply because he was poor and doesn’t have any parents when he tries to play with the other children.
He little head was filled with frustrations.
Why don’t I have any parents like my classmates do?
Why don’t I have any gifts like my classmates do?
Why can’t I play with the other children?
Why is it that they have everything but I don’t?
Why!
With his head filled with questions, Xiao Long would then rush home with both eyes streaming with tears.
Without giving a thought to how his Dearest Brother felt, he lashed out mercilessly at him.
Unknown to him, his Dearest Brother was going through the things he had gone through, maybe much worse.
Selfishly, he vented his anger towards the person standing before him. Every word that escaped his mouth pierced Li Feng’s heart like a dagger laced with venom.
The person in question who bore the brunt of it, only responded with the smile familiar to Xiao Long.
Not once, not twice, this occurred repeatedly over the years yet Li Feng would simply respond like how he always would.
Due to the inner struggles, Xiao Long’s anger turned for the worse which led to several small fights between him and the classmates.
Unable to comprehend his actions, a counsellor was invited to counsel Xiao Long to find out the reason behind it.
Probably from being repressed for a long period of time, it didn’t take much effort to lead Xiao Long into blurting everything out.
Counselled by an adult, Xiao Long’s expression grew paler by the minute from the realization and the increasing guilt.
Mulling over everything the counsellor spoke, matching everything the adult said with the memories he had, Xiao Long fainted.
Upon awaking, the first thing he saw was the worried Li Feng in the outfit of a construction worker.
As if a flip was switched on, Xiao Long bawled his eyes out as he apologized, hoping for forgiveness.
Raising his head up, he was met up with the ever familiar smile of Li Feng’s while his voice rang out clearly in his ears.
“I do not need your apologies, all I need is your happiness. Although we are orphans, remember that you still have a brother that will hold up the skies for you. Even though our lives isn’t as good as the others, I’ll work hard to pave the road ahead of you so that you do not have to go through the things that I went through.”
Those words rang out clearly with a firmness to it, it hammered heavily against his small heart.
I would rather I be the one suffering…How I wished I didn’t exist so that he would lead a better life...
Turning his head away, Xiao Long wiped away the tears that uncontrollably trickled down the sides of his face.
Haaa... I want to grow up now so I can share his burdens but that is impossible… So all that I can do now is to study hard…
Whenever he sees the smile on his Dearest Brother’s face, it made him feel so small and unworthy.
Unworthy of his love, unworthy of his smiles, unworthy of everything he had.
It hurts so much... So badly...
Moments Later
“Hmm? Okay, remember to return before night falls, pay attention when crossing the road, beware of strangers, did you rememb-“ Li Feng reminded as if on queue.
“Yes my Dearest Brother, I’ll head out now!” Xiao Long smiled cheerily in response to the words that he had just heard yesterday, the day before and every other days.
He likes it whenever Li Feng nags away at him, because it was his way of showing concern and love towards him.
Ever since the talk years ago between them, Xiao Long had completely stopped thinking about any wasteful thoughts like his parents and whatnot.
Also, he had tried his best to change for the better, in hopes of alleviating the weight of the burdens his Dearest Brother had to bear.
Li Feng’s back looked so lonely and fragile like a person with a thousand problems, as if he would break apart with a gentle gust of wind yet it felt strangely secure and warm for Xiao Long.
Because Xiao Long was shown thrice the love in the absence of his “ Parents ”, Li Feng had completely washed away all of his doubts and uncertainties.
Growing up under Li Feng’s visible sacrifices made him much aware of their current circumstances. Using his Dearest Brother as an example made him much more mature and responsible.
Comparing Xiao Long to the other children his age, even those much older than him age wise would pale in comparison.
To him, getting nagged by someone in this cruel world that contained many despicable and unscrupulous people, was evidence that there was someone that still loves him wholeheartedly.
That was why he loved to get nagged at, it was evidence that in this cruel world, amongst the sea of despicable and unscrupulous people, there was someone that still loves him wholeheartedly.
Closing the door after him, an expression unfitting of someone his age smeared across his face. One that was full of mischievous and sinister intentions.
Playing with my friends? I am sorry for lying but it is all for your wellbeing.
“Hehehhe… My Dearest Brother, I am going to kidnap a gentle wife home for you~ This is the only thing I can do for you right now~” He muttered softly to himself as his short legs trotted their way into the far distance, gradually disappearing from sight.
Xiao Long POV End
--- ---
Resting both of his palms right by the edges of the sink, Li Feng looked up to meet his reflection staring right back at him.
Standing stark naked, his hair stood on ends as he exposed his body to the chilling air.
Through the slightly fogged mirror, his dripping wet hair glistened under the dimly lit bathroom. Although slight dishevelled at the moment, it looked pretty attractive nonetheless.
Lifting his left hand, Li Feng ran his fingers through the black hair, pulling them all the way to the back revealing the charming yet slightly feminine face underneath.
A frowning oval shaped face held up the features that would be considered charming towards both genders, but had also attracted countless of unwanted attention.
The first thing that brought to attention was his distinct coffee coloured pupils, containing vicissitudes unfitting for his seemingly young age.
His thick brows arched, offset by a subtle and evil smirk, located on the left near his bottom lip, is a small mole that added a sense of beauty to his appearance.
Sweeping away the wisp of wet hair above his pointed nose, Li Feng casted his gaze down.
Sfx Splat! Splat!
Water droplets fell and slid down along his slender stature bringing attention to his flawless white skin.
“Fuck.. Why is it that I am cursed to live both my lives as pretty boys... Am I cursed?!?!” Li Feng cried, his face squeezed into various shapes under his slender hands.
“Haaaaaaa….” Li Feng let out an aggrieved sigh as he brushed his long fingers against his chin, feeling for facial hair withholding onto a wisp of hope that soon crumbled into a million pieces.
“This darned body... Haaa…” Looking down at his slender body, Li Feng released yet another frustrated sigh.
Just when he thought hope was all lost, Li Feng’s little brother protested with his head raised high. This was the evidence that he was still a man, a very manly one at that!
Well fuck it.. At least he has a dick, a pretty big one to boot… He commented inwardly with a tinge of pride, a little stunned by the intimidating fella that hung between his thighs.
At that very moment, an imaginary line of tear slid down his feminine face as he thanked the gods for bestowing him with a formidable weapon albeit equipped on a feminine body.
Having always being mistaken as a female in his previous life, the men who tried to flirt with him, well, let’s just say most of them ended up miserably while the few that survived weren’t much better either.
Although he hated his feminine appearance, he would always contradict that by taking proper care of his face.
Adding to the fact that his pretty face brought him many advantages and benefits that a male couldn’t possibly get.
It’s a love hate relationship, it’s too complicated.
Cupping his palms under the running tap, he splashed a handful of water onto his face and although this sounded like a very manly manoeuver. In reality, it looked like a female model in a facial wash commercial when Li Feng did it.
Alas, why am I so perfect? God must’ve spent all of his time on me. Turning his face left and right, Li Feng thought narcissistically to himself.
Pulling the towel over his head, he turned off the running tap and wore the clothes over his body.
Right after he exited the bathroom, a white blur flashed before his eyes, a faint pressure soon emerged, causing his left shoulder to sink slightly.
Looking to the left, Yun Xue licked the side of his face with sparkling eyes that brimmed with anticipation.
“Haha… Sorry to keep you waiting, lets head out!” Caressing Yun Xue’s head dotingly, Li Feng spoke lightly.

This is my first work and I will hopefully stay around for a while. I will try to finish or at least expand on this piece of work for quite some time, expect a few hiatuses in between though, still have a bit of schooling to do. Expected release dates will probably be once a week(not sure yet) after I stabilized the novel a bit as I'm still debating on how I should handle this. I prefer fleshed-out works compared to quick releases, but it also depends on how I'm feeling. I don't have a lot of confidence in my writing skills and I believe that my writing style is a bit weird, but I do want to try my best to tell a story that's worth telling. I will gladly accept criticism but please try to pull the punches back a bit! I'm still only human after all. Very excited to work on this, please take good care of me as I proceed on this journey with all of you! P.S. If you're going into my series, expect to see cliches sprinkled here and there. I personally love cliches and a few tropes! But, that goes without saying, I want to put my own spin on them. Be ready to feel the edge!!! Heh.
