Chapter One [ 1 ]

I Am Alive?!

As though god placed a veil over this darned land, the abyss rooted its presence deep within the dampened soil as it spread the darkness within the confines of the forest.

The deathly silence caressed the remains of the dried camouflage face paint as Li Feng leaned against the decaying tree stump.

Sfx Thump.. Thump..

His heart drummed dimly in a familiar rhythm he was used to, a bitter smile emerged on his sullied yet charming face as he gradually came to terms with reality.

As he sat dazed on the ground, a numbing sensation started to spread slowly through out his entire lower body and it was at this moment that he felt a strange emotion churning within him.

Fear? It definitely wasn't fear because he was the epitome of a person who lives with a knife pressed against his throat[ 1 ]

It may possibly be regrets.. So many regrets and so many lost opportunities that were placed right before him, but he didn’t treasure them.

There were four things he craved for, “Family. Friends. Warmth and Love.”. Terms so commonly thrown about yet seemed so strangely far and out of reach for someone like him.

Family.. Being an orphan, he craved for a family. Whenever he sees other peers his age playing around with their parents made envy gnaw away at his insides.

Friends and possible a possible lover.. If only he weren’t so afraid to step out of his protective shell and grabbed the olive branches[ 2 ] that were extended out to him.

Warmth, maybe all of those combined? He doesn’t know the answer to it either so he could only guess..

His prideful and solitary nature made him unable to engage in a normal conversation much less make any friends. If only he tried reaching out, all of those simple luxuries may have had been in his grasp by now..

Oh, how he regretted dedicating his entire life to the country, an entire thirty eight blood shed filled years being manipulated around like a puppet.

Even going to the extent of stepping over the corpses of his dead comrades and still be ending up like this.. To even think that he would actually die in a foreign land is ludicrous..

Looking down at the intimidating and life-like eastern dragon badge, pride arose from the very core of his soul, this was the trophy and prestige he had fought for.

Pressing down on the green orb held tightly within one of the dragon’s five claws, it popped out of an unknown mechanism and rolled into Li Feng’s palm.

With a swift flick of his wrist, the orb found its way into his gaping mouth and smoothly made its way down his throat.

Not even a tenth of a second had passed and the effects already started showing. Li Feng could feel a warm yet stinging sensation in his abdomen along with an area around where the heart was located.

He could feel both something around his heart and his abdomen vibrating, the unbearable pain shooting through the roof causing him to grind his molars and finally.

“Ahhh!” A heart wrenching scream instantly burst forth five seconds after Li Feng swallowed the ordinary and harmless orb half the size of a marble.

Indeed, the Dragon’s Fury Pill lives up to its name, taking its effect almost immediately after it slid its way into his stomach.

Sfx Thud! Crackle~

Falling to the ground, the leaves and twigs crackled beneath Li Feng as he writhed in agony, his eyes turning bloodshot while his veins bulged and wriggled underneath his skin.

This torturous moment brought him back the memories of when the badge was given to him a few years back.

Flashback

Upon walking through the door, the first thing Li Feng did was to examine his surroundings. His gaze so sharp that it seemed as if he could see through your soul.

The room he entered was a very neat and spacious office, decorated with extremely luxurious decorations, with one glance, the evaluation he gave was - Wasteful.

Rooms can very well be the representative of one's personality. In this case, the owner of the room is definitely an extremely wasteful person who loves to flaunt his wealth.

Walking in, a faint whiff of pleasant scent wafted throughout the nooks and cranny of the office surprisingly effective in calming and relaxing Li Feng as he stepped forward.

After making sure there was nothing that could possibly threaten his well being, a habit formed after spending many years overseas. He walked past the old man that held his hands out, sitting down before the large desk.

With an awkward chuckle, the elderly man deprecatingly smiled and sat down in the chair the opposite of Li Feng.

Although a harmless smile adorned his wrinkled and shriveled face, he inwardly cursed the youth repeatedly even to the extent of pulling his ancestors into the fray.

“What do you need of me?..” Li Feng spoke in an overbearing manner, his smooth and silky voice rang out after the elderly sat himself down.

Leaning back unto the amazingly comfortable cushioned chair, he rested his chin on one of his hands and waited for an answer.

Even after he had listened in on the rumors regarding Li Feng's peculiar behavior and weird antics, a willy old man like him couldn't help but be angered to the edge of popping a blood vessel.

Who does the young man think he is! Even if he held an equivalent or higher position me, he still should have showed some basic respect! Outrageous!

As the elderly make an evaluation of him, Li Feng also made one of the pretentious old fart before him – An old fox.

No matter how enraged the elder was, he knew that he couldn’t afford to anger the outrageous man sitting on the opposite side.

A blink of an eye is all it takes for the man to sever his head so he was paying extra attention and trying his best not to tread onto the dragon’s tail[ 3 ].

Upon a closer look, the man before him barely looked like a man, since he was slightly nervous after reading the reports regarding him.

The report seemed to describe him as a modern day monster that had three heads and six arms but the reports betrayed his every expectations.

Lush void black hair cascaded down the sides of his small oval shaped face, glistening with a little dark red while it carried a slight fragrance.

Long eyelashes fluttered with along as he blinked his pair of elongated mesmerizing eyes accompanied with a small nose and mouth.

With skin so fair it glowed with a slight pinkish color under the lights from the chandelier as a chilling temperament surrounded him.

In what way was he a man, he was the epitome of a woman! A cold beauty in a military costume! In the instant he associated the man with a “ Cold Beauty ” title, his eyes shot out with lust.

Under the lust filled gaze of the elderly, Li Feng’s face clouded over instantly with murderous aura leaking out from his slender stature.

“Li Jia Sheng, shall I decapitate you?” Li Feng called out the elderly’s name he got from the gold nameplate placed conveniently on the desk.

Almost immediately, Li Feng’s tundra cold voice echoed violently within the eardrums of the elderly like a voice that came from the depths of hell.

He felt all of the alarms in his old trembling body go off, telling him to flee from the scene immediately or more accurately, get away from the “ cold beauty ”.

This was a trick Li Feng learnt after spending years in the battlefield, the release of the Sha Qi or Murderous Aura from himself.

This was only achievable to those who have loads of experience in the battlefield or have murdered a ton of people.

Under the chilling gaze and the suffocating murderous aura of the beauty before him, he collapsed onto the ground with his back drenched with sweat.

“Y-you can’t kill me! I am the Vice-Head Researcher for the ISMF!” Jia Sheng panicked, this was the first time that someone had actually dared to threaten him.

“Do you think I give a flying fuck as to who you are? You’d better be getting both your superior down here with your ass out of the room or your head will be rolling down from your shoulders.” Li Feng threatened with a mocking tone, his eyes filled with disdain.

Even though his voice sounded extremely pleasing to the ears, Li Jia Sheng felt that it came out from a devil's mouth.

Five Minutes Later

A bespectacled youth apologized and bowed repeatedly with his head down, his dirty white coat fluttered along with his strenuous movements.

Taking a closer look, you would notice that his face had swelled up, his spectacles frame bent with one of the lenses cracked.

“It’s fine, just hurry and explain what you want me to do here.” Li Feng spoke lightly as he casually waved his slender hands.

With a wry smile, the head researcher of the Imperial Secretive Medical Faculty – ISMF for short, sat down in the chair the elderly previously sat in.

He cursed himself inwardly for mistaking the man for a woman. After receiving a little punishment for confessing to the man and receiving a " little " punishment on the spot, only then did he manage to calm himself down.

“Alright, please hand over your YuLong Badge / Jade Dragon Badge.” Adjusting his cracked and crooked spectacles, he went straight to the point.

Pulling out his current badge from his breast pocket, Li Feng flicked it across the smooth desk surface over to Glasses, the nickname he came up with.

“Now hold on to this new badge and I’ll explain the new addition we did to the badge.” Pulling out a beautifully carved wooden case, he removed an almost identical badge and replaced it with Li Feng’s previous badge.

Moping around the new badge, Li Feng flipped it back and forth several times to check for the differences.

“Take a look at the green orb in the dragon’s claws, yes please apply a slight pressure onto it.” Glasses spoke with a little excitement.

Sfx Pop!

With a pop sound, the green orb popped out of the socket and into his palm, giving off a faint aroma as it sat in the middle of Li Feng’s palm.

“So?” Li Feng played around with the little orb, it was no different than an ordinary marble other than the slight aroma it gave out.

“Do you remember the transplant we did on you?” With a slight pause, Glasses continued “This is the other half to what we transplanted into your heart.”

“T-this is actually a pill we recently created with our new technology, once it slides into your body, haa... haaa.. it will start to resonate with the other half we haa.. transplanted into your heart which will then cause a reaction.”

Panting heavily like a pervert, he paid no heed to the disgusted gaze Li Feng gave him and continued

“Resulting in a brief moment of excruciating pain lasting five seconds, you will then BAM! Explode! This Is to be done when there is no way for you to survive and if the only way was to contemplate suicide, you may run into the enemy camps to act as a suicide bomber.”

“You do not have to worry about anything about the bomb going off without you activating it with your own hands so please be assured.”

Li Feng didn’t really give any surprising reaction to Glasses revelation. Being a member of the Special Forces, especially being a part of the YuLong Group / Jade Dragon Group, he had seen things much more shocking than this little pill here.

Flashback End

With or without regrets, what’s done was done and he was glad that he, at least got to contribute to the country. Every second felt like a year in the passing, why couldn’t he simply die immediately. Why must he still suffer before his death.

As the five seconds was almost up, his memories flashed before him like a movie clip, his bits and pieces from his youth .

Thirty eight years may seem long but to Li Feng, it felt like it came and went in a snap. As the time ticked, he watched the scenes of his past flash by.

Most of his days were spent training, other than training would be his daily chores – Cooking, cleaning, watering the plants, playing with his pets and then followed by his daily activities.

Boring, this word was sufficient, enough to sum up his entire life.

Three.. Two… one…

Sfx Boom~

Shortly after the deafening explosion followed by a brief moment of a suffering, a languid sensation soon overwhelmed Li Feng’s entirety, enveloping him whole like an egg shell.

The suffering, the stress, everything he had underwent, the accumulation of thirty eight years of weight was being lifted off his shoulders, gradually chipping away.

Soon, he was greeted by a blaring white light, looking around, he could faintly guess where he is at right now.

The afterlife or what he preferred to call, the Nirvana.

Drifting in the bleak nothingness of the Nirvana, basking in the warmth of the blaring light that showered him, Li Feng had never felt so peaceful in his life.

Sfx Thump Thump! Thump Thump!

A strangely familiar sound broke him away from his trance, a rhythmic sound drummed and echoed within the nothingness.

Is someone calling for me?

“#@!#[email protected]@[email protected]#!”

Who is it?

“#!#%$#@”

Where is it?

“#@#[email protected]%$#”

Acting solely on instinct, Li Feng floated and drifted the best he could towards the direction where he felt it was coming from.

A snake? What is it?

Before him wriggled a small snake like creature made completely out of light, he could feel the friendliness it emanated.

What are you?

The snake like blob of light simply wriggled in response, it felt strangely pure and familiar, without a trace of malice.

Do you want me to follow you? Are you bringing me somewhere?

He thought as the creature nudged him into the same direction, without a second thought, he drifted along with the creature.

If this was the usual, Li Feng would have felt something was fishy but right now, he was simply acting out of character maybe due to the effect of the environment he’s in currently.

Standing before a strange door, he stopped and looked around. There was nothing except for the bleak white nothingness and the door before him.

A white door with a golden knob, yep, not suspicious in the least. A door in the middle of nowhere, just as he was about to back off.

Ahhh!

The door slammed opened and sucked him right into a whirlpool of colors, like a shed in a tornado, he spun and spun uncontrollably.

“Haha…[email protected]#?!$#@!#!” A gruff voice laughed out loud before it blurred out into a long gibberish slur.

Just as Li Feng was in a dazed state, a electrifying sensation spread throughout his entire body and burnt his chest.

Reflexively, he opened his eyes before narrowing them once more as a blaring white light shone down on him.

“Oh my god! He’s up!”

“Kyaa!”

“Mamamia~”

The ruckus hurt Li Feng’s ear drums, sitting up and looking over to the owner of the voices, a feeling of unreality overcame him.

Before him stood several people in surgical costumes, a mixture of both male and female pointing their fingers towards him.

I.. I AM ALIVE??!?!

Although he looked calm on the surface, his mind churned rapidly as monstrous waves crashed against his heart.

Looking at the numerous medical equipment stationed around the large room as well as the presence of the people in surgical costumes confirmed it.

He frowned as a strong scent of disinfectant mixed with some unknown substances wafted its way into his direction, overwhelming his senses.

Pinching his cheek and wincing in pain proved that he wasn’t dreaming but a trace of doubt still lingered.

Looking down at his naked body, a faint blush suffused on his face as he pinched and rubbed his cold body. The temperature of the room he was held in made his body cool to the touch.

He was sure that he died along with the explosion but how was he still alive, did he travel to the past? Impossible because his body shape was entirely different, even his little brother seemed to grow a tad larger in size..

Looking into the reflection in the scalpel affirmed his suspicions, he had shockingly been reborn in another body and thank god it wasn’t a female!

Although he felt that being a pretty boy is an advantage, he disliked being misunderstood as a woman much less turn into one.

Did the god answer my prayers and granted me a new body?

Two lines of tears streamed down his face as he thought of his regrets, to think he was given a second chance at life, he was definitely going to live this life to the fullest!

“Excuse me, Mister..” A voice soon broke him out of his trance.

Looking over to the left, he sees a grey haired man holding onto two defibrillators, Li Feng’s gaze transferred back and forth the pair of defibrillators and the red mark on his chest.

“Did you bur- AHHHHHH!” Just as Li Feng was about to get violent, a searing pain spread throughout his brain and he blacked out into a coma.
