《God's war》Desert Temple 01: The bigger the better

"Seriously, you have no idea how lucky you are. I mean, it's normal for Overskills to have high growth rates, but the leader of the mission was ready to accept you expecting a rate of fifty percent. That's like, one and a half cubic meters on level four? And you have what?", Victoria went on a rant, and not for the first time.

"Four. My pocket dimension doubles in size with every level.", I answered.

To be honest, I was surprised as well. I had absolutely no idea about growth rates of Skills and stuff, but it was easy to tell that my pocket dimension had a pretty insane one. Just some simple maths told me that at just level seven, my Overskill would have almost the same capacity as a small shipping container.

Or to put it in even simpler numbers, at only level six, I could probably use it to store the entire contents of my apartment. Sure, my apartment isn't exactly a large one, but still.

And that wasn't all. The number and size of portals I could create had increased as well. By now, there were few things I couldn't store away, at least in terms of size.

"Oh! There you finally are!", a young man, waiting in front of the armory, greeted them.

"Let me introduce you. Al, this is Jonathan, he is the keeper of our armory. He will be the one to ask for equipment while you're still below Tier three. Jonathan, this is Alexander. He may be a fresh recruit, but he is going to accompany us for the desert mission. You have been notified about the reason, right?", Victoria introduced them.

"Just call me Alex.", I said as I shook his hand.

"Pleasure to meet you! You have no idea how happy I am to work with you! Finally, someone who can help me with my tests!", the man got excited.

"Tests?", I couldn't help but ask.

"Weapon tests! I'm a weapon designer, but it's really hard to get any proper testing done because of those stupid reality fields! Anyway, let's go inside and choose some weapons for you! The mission is in two weeks, right? That should be more than enough time to train you in two or three weapons!"

Really, this guy got way too excited. I could almost hear the exclamation marks after every sentence.

Jonathan opened the door and led us inside. It was the same large room filled with shelves full of equipment I had gotten the equipment for my last fight from. But this time, we were led all the way through until we reached a large double door in the back.

A long sequence of beeps, at least twenty, sounded out as Jonathan went ahead and opened the code lock.

With a push, he flung the door open as if to show off the room beyond. To be honest, it was quite an impressive sight.

It was hard to describe it any other way, but beyond the door, the average size of the weapons tripled, at the very least. Just a short look around told me that the smallest thing I would find in this room would be an LMG.

"Welcome to my kingdom! The LMG's are to the left, Anti-material- and sniper-rifles are to the right. Bazookas and rocket launchers are right in front and Gattlings are in the back! Now, we have about two cubic meters of space for equipment, right?"

Jonathan asked as he was already going along the shelves, taking out different weapons before putting them back.

"Hmm, yes. You said earlier something about reality fields and weapon tests, what did you mean by that?", I couldn't help myself but ask.

There were so many questions I still had, and I had to start getting answers somewhere. S, why not start asking now.

"Right, new recruit. Ehhm... Do you play RPG's?", Jonathan asked.

"Well, sometimes. Why?"

"In many RPG's, certain weapons have usage requirements. Stats or classes and stuff like that, right? It's kinda like that, just with races.", he explained as he took one especially large sniper rifle from a shelf and brought it over to a table.

"So, there some weapons that need you to be of a certain race to use them? Didn't you say something about elves yesterday?", I ask Victoria, remembering that she had mentioned something like that.

"Yes. Remember what I said about Tiers? If your stats reach their limit, you can increase your Tier. And if you do that, you can choose a new race. They all have certain strengths, weaknesses, and abilities. And depending on what you choose, your reality field expands in rules it can accept and combine."

"What she means to say is, there are a whole shit-ton of worlds out there. Each with a different race and different rules. Like, Gravity and stuff. Now, let's say you get your hands on a piece of equipment from a world with very different rules from ours. Let's say, an enchanted elven longbow.

Problem is, our world has no magic, and thus no enchantments. Theoretically, that weapon shouldn't be able to exist in our world and it would rapidly deteriorate if left alone. Well, we call it deterioration, but it's really just losing a lot of its abilities since it's being forced into the rules from our world. In the end, at best you would have a normal longbow, at worst, weird shit happens and it turns to mush.

That changes, however, if it's close to someone with the elven race. Because they choose elf as a race, they produce a reality field around themselves that's just like that from the longbows origin world, thus preventing the deterioration.

Anyways, come over here. These three beauties are going to be your best friends from now on!", Jonathan finished his explanation and led me over to the table.

There, I saw three very, very large guns. While I only recognized the most classic of them, the mini-gun or M134, he was absolutely right to call them beauties. It was a very simple property inherent to all guns.

The bigger the better.
