Chapter 23
Lin Feng panted while bending with his hands on his knees. In order to escape that blockade, he had to use every drop of energy he had left.
On the other hand, the older lady before him gave him a look full of admiration, "Wow! Was that Kung Fu? That was amazing!"
He returned her a wry smile. "I guess you could call it that."
"How did you notice that group of bastards behind the police force? I would've never noticed." She pointed out after Lin Feng regained his bearing.
Lin Feng did not know how to explain so he gave her a mysterious look, "Intuition."
She nodded and looked around at their sandy surrounding. There was a road that she could spot in the distance.
"Do you know where we are right now?" She asked.
"We shouldn't be too far from the city." Lin Feng silently calculated within his mind. "It should be a half an hour walk."
"Mhmm."
The two walked back towards the city with an exchange of words happening every so often. It was a captivating sight when the wind blew towards them. Her curled, black hair would lift gently, while her tattered clothes would shift to reveal more of her smooth, pale skin.
"By the way, little brother. I still haven't asked for your name. My name is Jiang Sulun. Feel free to call me Aunt Sulun." She said as they approached closer to the city.
"It's Lin Feng."
"Lin Feng?" She repeated, as if to carve his name within her memory. Her hand reached out for something within her tattered jacket. "This is my contact information. Just mention my name, or call me if you ever get into any kind of trouble."

Lin Feng took it and gave her a deep look. "Thank you."
"It's nothing." She shook her head. "You did save my life."
Finally, they arrived at the city.
Due to the way the city was constructed, there was almost no activity on the very outskirts of the city.
"Ah, do you have your phone with you?"
Lin Feng fished around in his pocket and took out the phone Lin Meng just gave him this morning. "Here you go."
She gratefully received it, "Thank you."
Upon receiving it, she was very surprised that it was a limited edition one. Jiang Sulun brushed it aside and called her driver to pick her up, before calling the police to tell them she was safe. She wondered if her husband found out about this already. Considering his power, he probably found out a while ago. She sighed, and wished the policemen the best of luck.
"My driver will come pick me up soon. You should go." She told Lin Feng after finishing her calls.
"What if something happens to you again when I'm gone? I'll stay here with you until you get picked up." Lin Feng gave her a resolute reply. He had already suffered so much to rescue her, it would truly be a tragedy if some random ruffian were to attack her when he wasn't looking.
Jiang Sulun was slightly stunned at the resolute reply of the handsome young man before her. She tilted her head down to hide her blush. Having been rescued by him from getting raped, and his "protectiveness." That was a little... manly.
Meanwhile, at the warehouse.
The chief had large droplets of sweat running down his face. They were at a stalement against this group of ruffians. Which group do they belong to? Why are there so many of them!?

They were surrounded through and through. Not only that, the Mayor had disappeared as well! This operation was a complete disaster.
"Now, now, now. If you would just allow us to go through and retrieve the money, this ordeal would be done and over with." A sneering voice came through from a large van.
"We... can't do that." The chief responded back as he desperately thought of a way to get out of the sitation.
"Is it because of the hostage? Someone important? It has to be. Otherwise, you guys wouldn't have sent so many after some stolen money."
The chief's face went pale with anger. He gripped his gun so tight, his hands turned pale.
But it was at this moment, a black dot rapidly approached from afar. As it came closer, and closer, it became clear that it was a women with short hair in shades and a black suit.
Even when she approached the blockade of messed up ruffian cars, her speed did not slow down in the slightest.
Instead, when her body made contact with one of the cars in her way, it was shot flying away! The sight was even more exaggerated than some movie scene.
The whole sitation was so shocking that no one could react to it. After sending several cars flying, she finally stopped before she rammed into a police car and looked around.
Her cold gaze finally landed on the chief as she appeared before him and showed him a badge.
"Looking for someone."
That was all she said as she barged into the warehouse.
"Special Force..." The chief was clearly still in shock. "That was our country's Special Force? Monsters!"
Inside the warehouse.
The woman took calm, rhythmatic steps as she observed the internals of the warehouse. She bent down over the bodies of the two ruffians and checked their conditions.
Seeing that one of them was still alive, she grasped them by the skull and a faint purple aura enclasped around her palm. A few moments later, the man started to foam from the mouth and died on the spot.
"As expected of the mistress's younger brother. He's very special. I couldn't keep up with his raw speed in the slightest. Better find him quick, or the mistress will get mad."

Disclaimers: Chapter Frequency: I aim for one chapter a week. Chapter Length: I try to keep chapters between 3000 and 6000 words. Binge Preference: I plan for 30 chapters per arc. If you want to binge a complete arc, then that is the number to wait for. I will also add a line to chapters indicating the beginning and end of an arc. Advanced Access: I have created a patreon page with early access to four chapters for patrons. What to Expect: Progression fantasy with a western fantasy setting and with eastern fantasy elements. A main character that is forced to explore a very narrow path of magic due to a permanent condition. A main character that is a part of a larger cast. A main character that is growing but won't become the strongest around anytime soon. A story following a single main character but with introduction or theme setting scenes without the main character. What Not to Expect: Edgy grimdark characters – I will never write a sexual violence scene or gory descriptions of torture. I hate reading it and I would hate writing it even more. Romance – romantic relationships will never be the focus of the story and only appear in the background. The main character is preoccupied with other stuff. Other forms of relationships (family, friends, companions) play a bigger role. Cover: The cover art was commisioned from redditor Linh-Nguyen87. The font is alita brush by Inovatype Typefoundry. Overview: 001–030 Arc 1, Cultivating Perseverance: complete. 031–060 Arc 2, Undying Defiance: complete. 061–090 Arc 3, Unyielding Fury: scheduled for publishing. 091–120 Arc 4, Savage Hope: scheduled for publishing. 121–150 Arc 5, Self-Made Fate: first draft in progress. 151–180 Arc 6, Heretic Style: sketching in progress.
