Chapter 8
Months passed.
"You can be discharged tomorrow." Teng Yuhan told Lin Feng in her usual soft, silky voice.
"It's all thanks to your treatmen, Sister Teng. Perhaps I should come visit?" Lin Feng and Teng Yuhan had become very close during these past few months to the point of calling each other brother and sister.
"Ah, you don't need to do that." Lin Meng interupted with a teasing tone.
"Why not?" Unwillingness rose in Lin Feng's heart.
"She lives right next to us." She smilingly replied back.
"That's great." He joyfully said back.
"Well, I need to take care of some things now. You two, please enjoy yourselves." Teng Yuhan politely bowed and adjusted her black rimmed glasses before leaving the room.
Lin Feng leaned back on his bed and relaxed his body. He was no longer the shriveled looking boy from last year. His facial features had completely returned, showing his soft, mellow eyes and other features that closely resembled his sister's. His body was still skinny but it was like the difference between heaven and earth compared to what he looked like last year.
During this period of recovery time, he also made extremely close bonds with people around him like Teng Yuhan and Lin Meng, or the mysterious Ran Kuangnu, or the guy who keeps calling him his best friend, Xue Xunai who got discharged a while back and visited him once, looking completely different.
Lin Meng noticed her little brother's dazed state and picked up an apple from the fruit basket next to his 10 years of missed school work and started to peel it with a knife. She had gotten used to his dazed look and considered it to be an unavoidable side effect of his coma. She also found out that his intelligence was on par with her's, just as expected. He could easily comprehend any textbook work from literature to mathematics. Little does she know, he already learned all of this before. It was all just reviews. His actual intelligence wasn't close to matching her's.

"Here you go." Lin Meng warmly handed the carefully diced apples to her little brother, breaking him out of his dazed state.
"Thank you."
"I already said that you don't need to say thanks." His grateful gesture caused her to smile.
'I don't want to take you for granted.' Lin Feng thought but didn't say it out loud. "Feed me."
Lin Meng gracefully took the plate of apples back and picked one up with a fork, "Say ahh."
"Ahh."
The pair continued passionate bantering until sunset. Outside the room, Teng Yuhan leaned against the door with both her hands in her lab coat.
'Today is the last day I will be able to interract with him like this.' A single bead of tear slowly rolled down her flawless, porcelain-like skin.
The next day quickly came. The sun rose, giving life to everything in its path. Its lovely rays illuminated every blades of grass to signify the beginning of a new day.
Lin Feng woke up naturally to the sun's call. He was filled with anticipation. This dream-like world never failed to give him happiness. He was finally free from the responsibility of his company. Never again would he do so something like managing a huge organization again.
He slowly left the bed to occupy the restroom. Feeling refreshed as he left the toilet behind him, he happily opened the blinds to be greeted by the lifeful scape scenescape of this hospital's garden.
His skinny body casually seated on a couch by the window as his slender fingers pressed a button to call a nurse for his breakfast.
In truth, his recovery was supposed to take much longer than a little more than a year. He knew that it was all thanks to that mysterious vial given by Ran Kuangnu, his sister's best friend. Even in his previous life where his influence encompassed the entire country, he had never heard of such miraculous medicine. He was confident that the technological advancements of this world is higher than that of his previous world's. His confidence was further reinforced by how his older sister and personal doctor acted like it was no big deal after seeing the effects of it. He was very excited to see the high-tech things outside of the hospital when he gets discharged.

Sharp sounds of heels banging against the white tiled floor woke Lin Feng up from his daze. He looked over to see Teng Yuhan walking over with his breakfast tray in her hand. Her loose brown hair flew like the most majestic waves while her white lab clung tightly to her slender, well curved body giving a charming intellectual charm.
"What a pleasant surprise." A grin curled onto Lin Feng's face.
"You're going to leave soon so I should give you some special treatment." Her melodious voice answered delicately while she took a seat besides him.
Her clean, floral scent slowly filled up his mind, driving his body into heat.
"Anymore special treatment?" Lin Feng pressured her under the influence of his heat. His weak, fragile hands grabbed hers, further fueling his heat.
Teng Yuhan was raised to be a traditional and pure lady. The feeling of his warm hands sent her heart beating, leaving her mind blank.
"What would you like?" Her quiet voice leaked out.
Lin Feng's black, gem-like eyes stared longingly into her lovely, dark eyes. His year long pent-up heat burst forth like a tide. The tide did not stop as their face drew closer and closer.
Their breathing intensified. Delicate, cherry pink lips came into sight. He hardened his grip on her soft, pure hands. And their lips connected.
It was pure and innocent with no sexual undertones. No tongue. No prolongued contact. Just a kiss. Even so, it felt like a thousand years for both of them. It was both parties' first kiss.
And then they seperated. It was like half of Lin Feng's pent up desires were released in those few short seconds.
Teng Yuhan blushed furiously all the way to her ears. She hurriedly released her hand from Lin Feng's grasp and grabbed both of his shoulder to push away to create some distance and stood up. Panic and confusion as well as interest was all that filled her watery eyes underneeth those glasses that gave her intellectual charm. Those charming eyes of hers made eye contact for one more split second before she rushed out of the room.

Humanity Extinguished
I had the same nightmare again. The loss of my first life continues to haunt me, but now it aches like an old wound. A more grievous injury to my psyche was the losses yet to come and the inevitable hellscape I would return to again and again. Reincarnation is my curse. The lives themselves weren't all that bad. Losing people you cared about hurt and all, but even that pain was preferable to experiencing the nothingness between lives for months at a time. It was enough to drive anyone mad. Now I have to focus on breaking this horrible cycle. Thankfully I have all the time in the world. Trace is an average man driven by extraordinary circumstances in an indifferent and cruel world. His reincarnations give him a few key advantages but also take a heavy toll on him. He lives in a world where magic is uncommon and underpowered compared to the limitless physical adaptations you can acquire by getting your hands a little bloody. This story is one of hardship and terrible lows, but also monumental achievements and grand heights. The main character has flaws. While some of these flaws will fade with time, others will worsen.
