《Unexpected Reincarnation》Chapter 68: Nipping The Bud(1)

Seven people were eating breakfast at the dining table the next morning. As he put a piece of sunny-side egg in his mouth, Sol asked, “So, what do you plan to do?”
Sirius put down the fork and looked at him. “I’m going to catch Pettigrew and make him pay for betraying James to You-Know-Who!”
“And after that?”
“After that, probably live in hiding!” Sirius said after thinking a bit. “I’m not going back to Azkaban!”
Sol paused. He looked at Sirius like he was an idiot and asked, “Say, are you dumb? You may not have a problem with living in hiding but you have your godson to worry about as well.”
Sirius was startled and looked at Harry. He hesitated before saying, “Right, I’m sorry. I hadn’t thought of that!”
“Why are you apologizing to me?”
“I understand,” he then turned to Harry and repeated his apology.
“No, no, that’s fine!” Harry waved his hands hurriedly.
“What do I do then?” Sirius pinched the bridge of his nose.
“Are you dumb?” Selene stopped eating and rebuked him, “Since they threw in Azkaban for killing Pettigrew, then all you have to do is show them Pettigrew is alive! And since you know where he is, go catch him!”
“Mom,” Sol coughed, “he was also charged with the murder of 12 muggles!”
“Ah, right!”
“No, I didn’t kill them!” Sirius denied those words.
“Did we say you did? Sol sighed, “If Pettigrew is alive then there’s something wrong with the murder as well.”
“That’s right!” Sirius nodded.
“Then that’s it, no?” Selene asked, “Since you have the evidence, the council won’t be able to refute you.”
“Indeed, all we have to do is catch that damn rat!” Sirius raged.
“Do you know where he is?” she asked.
“He’s with the Weasley’s!”
“Really?” she stopped picking up her fork midway.
“I saw him in the papers!”
“Well, you can discuss all you want,” Sol stopped the both of them, “but mum, I’m going to Diagon Alley! I still have some supplies I haven’t bought!”
“Right, let me get ready then!” Selene stood up and went upstairs.
“What should I do?” Sirius murmured.
“You don’t have to think so much,” Sol shook his head. “If you get close to Pettigrew, he’s going to run. And it’s hard to catch a rat!”
“Then?”
“Then all we have to do is catch it by surprise!” Sol’s eyes gleamed.

“And how do we do that?” Sirius asked blankly.
“Leave it to me,” Sol assured him. He then looked at Harry, “Want to come with?”
Harry shook his head, “I think I’ll stay!”
“Good!” he nodded, “Faye loves it when you come over!” He pointed at Faye who seemed very curious about the bearded man who was in her house.
“She seems more curious towards Sirius now,” Harry remarked.
“That’s just because he’s new!” Sol shook his head. He then turned around, “Father, you don’t have work today, do you?”
Tom shook his head.
“Take care of Faye then.”
Tom raised his hands and gestured, “Sure.”
Sol then said, “Okay, then I’ll get ready real quick!” He went upstairs and closed the door to his room.
With a flash of green fire, Sol appeared from the fireplace quickly followed by his mother. There was a row of fireplaces with occasional flashes of green flames. It was a floo network[1] made for public use. Aside from the entrance at the Leaky Cauldron, there were other ones as well including the use of Floo Powder.
“Mom, let’s go!” Sol started walking alongside his mother.
“What do you need here?” his mom asked as she looked around.
“School supplies. I don’t need the books since my wonderful mom-” he exaggeratedly gestured at her with both hands, much to her embarrassment, “-gave them to me!”
“Stop that!” she hissed at him. “People are looking!”
“Of course!” Sol nodded seriously, “They have eyes, why won’t they look?”
“Enough, you smartass!” she slapped his head and pulled him along.
They walked through Diagon Alley. They bought some quills, ink and some notebooks for writing.
“Why do we have to use quills when we have pens?” Sol whined.
“That’s the way the world works,” his mother shrugged.
“You mean the Wizarding World. If the entire world was like the Wizarding World, we’d still be living in the 17th Century!” He looked at Selene, “And you know what that means, mom?”
“What?” she turned to look at him.
“That means no TV and therefore, no soap operas for you!”
“You-” she wanted to refute him but upon further thinking, she realized he was right. She started sulking.
“Hey, now; no need to be down. That’s only if you married a wizard. By marrying father, you have TV as well. Aren’t you glad to have married father now?”
She stopped walking and smiled at him, “I am!”

“Why are you standing around? Let’s go!”
“Yeah,” Sol nodded and looked up. The sun was directly above.
“It’s noon,” Sol observed. “Mom, let’s have lunch!”
“Where do you want to have lunch here?” Selene asked. “We’ll have lunch when we get home!”
“Nope, I’ve had nothing but your home-cooked meals for a while now!” Sol shook his head. He continued stubbornly, “We need some variety!”
“I think my cooking transcends variety,” she said with a smug face.
“No.”
“Well, then where do you want to have lunch here?” Selene relented.
“I mean,” Sol shrugged. “The Leaky Cauldron is right there.”
“Fine,” his mother started walking towards the Leaky Cauldron and Sol followed her.
After five or ten minutes of walking, they reached the Leaky Cauldron and opened its door. Sol entered first.
“Oi, what the hell?” he cursed out. As soon as he had entered, something had jumped onto his head. He lashed out and grabbed it. He took it down and looked at it only to be dumbfounded.
…an ugly ginger cat? Sol inspected the cat.
“Mr. Crookshanks!” a shout came from the other side of the inn followed by running. Sol had been so flabbergasted by the strange name that he didn’t notice that he knew this voice.
Hermione came running up to him and took the cat from his hands. She then rebuked it, “You shouldn’t jump on people’s heads!”
“See, what did I tell you!?” Ron walked up to her. “The bloody cat’s a menace!”
“Oi, you two!” Sol beckoned them. “Me first, cat later!”
“Sol!” they seemed to have finally noticed him.
“My mother’s here too,” he moved out the way and let Selene come in.
“If it isn’t Ron and Hermione!” she went up and hugged them. She then looked at Hermione, “I know Ron but this is the first time I’ve met you! How are you doing? I’ve heard so much about you!”
“Really?” Hermione narrowed her eyes, “Sol talks about people?”
“Hey, what does that mean?” Sol protested.
“Don’t worry,” his mother reassured her, “it was all good things.”
“Thank you!” Hermione thanked his mother.
His mother then looked at the both of them, “Are your families here as well?”
“Yep!” they both answered in unison.
“Then, let’s go and say hi!” Sol suggested.
“Just what I was thinking!” Selene exclaimed. “I haven’t seen Molly in a while!”
“Lead us to them,” he told the kids. After which, he and his mother followed behind the two of them when they saw Hermione and Ron’s parents talking together.
When Molly saw Selene, her eyes lit up and she went up as the two hugged. “Ah, Selene, it’s been a long time!”
“I haven’t seen you since you came back!” Selene squeezed Molly tight.
They let each other go as Molly said, “Is Sol here?”
“He’s right here!” she pointed behind her. Molly rushed up to Sol and hugged him.
“H-Hello, Mrs. Weasley!” he was about to suffocate.
“Ah, Sol, how have you been?”
“I’m fine!” Molly let him go and he filled his lungs with some much air.
“That’s good!” Soon, the grownups began talking to each other, disregarding the kids.
“Sol, is Harry with you?” Hermione asked him.
“He’s back at my house. I left him to take care of Faye!”
“You left him to take care of a baby?” Ron was astonished.
“It’s not like I left him there. I even asked him if he wanted to come but he didn’t want to.”
“Why not? Doesn’t he need to buy the books?” Hermione asked.
“Not really. The Minister actually bought his books for him.”
“The Mini-!” before they could scream, he clamped their mouths shut with his hand.
“Hey, now!” he warned them. “Not everyone needs to know!”
After he saw that they were going to be quiet, he let go. Ron and Hermione looked at each other before the former asked, “Did he perform magic outside of school?”
“Yes,” Sol nodded. “He uhh,” Sol scratched his neck awkwardly, “blew his uncle’s sister up!”
“Then was he expelled?” Hermione worriedly asked.
“No. Since it was an accident, he won’t be expelled.”
“That’s good!” both of them heaved a sigh of relief.
“Yeah, it’s good you were close by especially since Black is on the loose!” Ron shuddered.
“Sirius Black, you mean?” Sol raised an eyebrow.
“Yeah, didn’t you read the Daily Prophet?”
“Speaking of the Daily Prophet,” Sol stroked his chin, “did you really have to take the rat with you to Egypt?”
“Of course!” Ron stroked Scabbers in his hands. “He’s like family to me!”
“Family, you say?” his eyes glowed with a cruel light as he looked at the rat.
