《Unexpected Reincarnation》Chapter 66: Sirius Black(1)

Martha is a librarian. She was 50 this year. Her love for books and poverty had led her to work as a librarian. Having worked here for close to 25 years, she had seen things. But never had she seen a child read multiple books from the fantasy genre while taking notes. Of course, this in itself was nothing unusual. Sometimes, literature graduates would also come and take notes while reading various things. But no one did it for straight 6 hours!
Martha silently stood from her chair and crept behind the young lad with the mountain of books. He peered over his shoulders and looked at his notes. The Acts of Caine, The Magic of Recluse, A Song of Ice and Fire, Emperor Mage, Assassin’s Apprentice, and many more heavy books were piled up in front of him. Right now, he was reading The Lord of the Rings and writing something down.
As she was about to peer into his notebook, the boy asked, “Is there something you need, Ma’am?”
“N-No,” she was startled and replied hastily, “well, yes!”
The boy stopped writing and looked at her with his ocean-blue eyes, “And how can I help you?”
Martha thought quickly and asked, “Don’t you need to go home?”
“Why? Is it that la-” he looked over towards a window. His eyes widened when he saw it was dark outside, “Fuck!”
Sol hastily got up and put his notebooks inside his bag. He then took all the books from the table and put them back where they belonged and made a mad dash outside the library door.
Martha came back to reality. She looked at the door and back to the fantasy section. D-Did he just take all those heavy books back in one trip?
Outside, Sol was running full sprint towards his house, “Shit, shit, shit! Mom’s gonna kill me! Need to go faster!”
Sol threw the bag in the air and circulated magic power in his body. His back arched and black fur started growing everywhere. His blue irises expanded and took over his eye-whites as his pupils narrowed into slits. The muscles in his arms and legs became bigger and more compact. His hands and feet turned into paws while the nails grew longer and sharper. His mouth elongated and his teeth grew longer. He had 4 long fangs. He had turned into a black panther!
His panther-self jumped into the air and grabbed the bag in his mouth and ran faster. He finally became an Animagi after the school closed down. Hell, it had been close to half a year after the Basilisk Incident. If he hadn’t been able to learn it within that time, he might as well have not reincarnated.
The panther bastard pussy-footed around me so much and for what? Sol sighed. He had just entered Privet Drive and continued down the street. As he ran on his four feet, he noticed something and stopped in his tracks.
What the fuck…? He raised his head and looked up at the sky. Something was floating. Is that…a woman?

The woman no longer had any semblance of a normal human being. She was as round as a ball. She looked bloated like a balloon. She had her mouth open as though saying someone as she slowly floated in the air.
That’s some passable CG for 2004. Sol admired the floating woman before he came to the main point. Wait, that’s not CG, that’s magic! He looked around and saw where he was. It was near the Dursley’s house. Fuck…
As if on cue, he then saw the door to their house open and Harry come out with his suitcase. He angrily slammed the door close behind him and walked to the sidewalk.
Sol watched from the shadows. Harry started walking and sat down on the sidewalk. There was a lonely air about him. He finally sat down on the curb in front of a playground. He propped his chin up with his hands and looked like he was in grave thought.
Sol thought he should approach the kid in his normal form but before he could do that the wind picked up. The nearby bushes and trees rustled violently while the streetlights flickered. Harry looked around vigilantly before his eyes were fixed on the bushes on the opposite side of the road.
The bushes started parting as a huge black dog emerged from within. It looked at Harry with his brown eyes. The black dog walked closer to Harry step by step who scrambled to get up.
Sol’s cat-like eyes constricted as it looked at the dog. Animagi! He snarled.
As Harry was about to take his wand out and aim it at the clearly dangerous dog, both the black dog and Harry turned their heads around and saw a large cat emerge from the shadows. Its eyes were pinned on the black dog.
Both of their eyes widened as they saw the panther. The panther looked menacingly at the black dog. Harry took a few steps back. The panther didn’t even notice him and continued to look at the dog. Harry calmed himself down a bit. The dog was here for him but the panther was here for the dog.
Harry then took out his wand and aimed it at the dog opposite the road. He had no intention of casting a spell and only wanted to threaten it.
The dog had paid no attention to Harry however as it now began to slowly step back as the panther growled and advanced. This standstill didn’t last long as a faraway bus horn broke the tension. The panther roared loudly and gave chase to the dog that started running away. Both of the animals disappeared into the bushes leaving the confused Harry.
His processing of what happened was halted when a blue triple-decker bus screeched to a halt right in front of him. Harry stumbled backward and fell on his butt.
A messy guy in an untidy grey conductor's outfit stood in front of the door and looked at him. He had a camera around his neck.

“You coming in?” Stan Shunpike asked Harry.
“What’s…this?”
“Why this is the Knightbus!” Stan said enthusiastically.
“And?” Harry asked since that didn’t really answer his question.
“It’s a bus, only for wizards!” Stan hit the side of the bus with his palm. “This bad boy can fit so many passengers![1]”
“Why are you in front of me then?”
“Didn’t you call us here?” he asked Harry.
“No, I didn’t!”
“Yes, you did. We felt you aim your wand by the side of the door!”
“O-Oh! That was an accident!” Harry explained.
“An accident, you say? Then are you coming in?”
“N-No!”
“Alright then!” Stan went inside the bus and the bus comically speeded off. Harry looked until the bus rounded the corner. He then sighed and picked himself off the ground. Dusting himself off, he made his way towards Sol’s house. This won’t be a problem, right?
On the other hand, Sol chased the black dog on all four feet. They zoomed through the suburbs at astonishing speeds. The lead that the black dog had was gradually shortening.
As they went into dashed through another playground, Sol pounced on the dog. He bit the dog’s neck and pushed him to the ground. After getting thrashed a few times, the dog finally pushed Sol off and made some distance.
The dog started transforming back. Sol froze when he saw the dog now turned man.
The man warily looked at Sol and said, “Reveal yourself!”
Sol purred and complied. The man looked astonished when he revealed his true self. “A child…” he mumbled.
“Haah~” Sol sighed. “Sirius Black, what are you doing here?”
“I can’t say,” Sirius shook his head. After a pause, he looked at Sol and said, “Though I can’t have you turning me in not before I-”
“Stop right there,” Sol stopped him from trying to monologue, “What are you going to do to me exactly? You don’t have a wand and look like a hobo!”
“That hurts!” Sirius replied frankly. “Well, you can’t exactly expect good clothes and a salon in Azkaban!”
“Haah~” Sol sighed again. He then turned around and started walking, “Follow me!”
“Follow you where?” Sirius stood rooted in his spot and asked him warily.
“My home!”
“Your home?” he had not expected this answer. “Why would you take me to your home?”
“My mother would like to see you.”
“Who’s your mother?”
Are we playing 20 questions or something? “Selene Balor!”
“S-Selene!” Sirius shakily pointed his finger at him, “Y-You’re that kid! You’re her son!”
“Yeah!” he nodded, “And let’s go!”
“W-Wait!” he stopped Sol. “You can’t me take me there. If the Ministry catches you or your family with me, they’ll never let you go!”
“Yeah, that’s why transform into a dog!” Sol looked at him.
“That’s a good idea! But you still can’t take me there!”
“Do you have someplace else to go right now?” Sol raised his eyebrow.
“Yes, I need to-”
Sol cut him off again, “Yeah, yeah, I get it! You want to do something along the lines of making someone pay or overthrow the Ministry. You can do that but don’t look like that while doing it!”
“Overthrow the Ministry? What are you talking about?”
Sol clicked his tongue in annoyance, “Why are you asking so many questions? Just become a dog and follow me!”
This back and forth went for quite a while until Sirius relented and no longer argued. He transformed back into a dog and followed Sol.
Sol looked at his neck. Bite marks were still there. “It doesn’t hurt that bad, right?” he asked. “I mean should be nothing in front of what you had to go through in Azkaban.”
Sirius whimpered and nodded. He hung his head and followed Sol.
After a while, they both reached Sol’s house. As Sol was going to ring the doorbell, he stopped.
Sirius looked at him.
Sol took a deep breath. “Fuck me,” he said under his breath. “Mom’s gonna really kill me!” He then rang the doorbell.
After a while, his father opened the door and looked at him with pitying eyes.
“Come on; don’t look at me like that!” Sol lamented his ordeal.
His father shrugged and opened the door. Sol went inside with Sirius.
His father looked very confused why a dog was coming in as well and rightly so. But his son was a wizard and his wife was a witch, he had seen weird things before.
“Is that you, Sol?” his mother’s voice came from the living room.
“Huh?” Sol was confused because his mother’s voice wasn’t as chilling as he thought it would be.
“Y-Yeah!” he took Sirius and went into the living room. When his mother saw him, her eyes lit up and she said, “Look who’s here!”
“Huh? Oh!” Sol’s eyes finally fell on Harry who was sitting on a sofa.
Harry scratched his neck awkwardly and asked, “Hope I’m not intruding?” His eyes then widened when he looked at the black dog.
“Nah, it’s fine!” Sol waved his hands dismissively, “We’re happy to have you!”
“Sol Balor.”
Sol paled. His mother said his full name now.
“You have an owl then you brought a snake and you’ve brought a dog!” Selene looked at the black dog beside him. “Do you think this is a zoo!?”
“O-Oh no!” he hurriedly shook his head. He looked at Sirius and said, “Oi! Why are you still like this?”
Sirius looked at him blankly. He then transformed back into his normal form. Under Harry and Selene’s astonished eyes, he awkwardly greeted them, “H-Hello there[2]!”

My name is Joo In-gong. The name that my parents gave me meant ‘protagonist’ of the world. As anyone can predict, I was constantly teased due to my name. In kindergarten, elementary school, middle school and high school. If I went to university as planned then I would probably be laughed at there as well. So, at one point, I really hated my name. But not anymore. Now, I think slightly differently. Maybe being named Joo In-gong was a type of foreshadowing?
