《Unexpected Reincarnation》Chapter 1: Birth And A Bizarre World

“Congratulations! It’s a healthy boy.”

“Thank you, healer.”, said a black-haired woman wearing a white hospital gown.

“You should rest now. I’ll get you some potions, sweetie. Drink those and you’ll be fit as a fiddle in 2 days.”

“Would you let my husband in? Hopefully, he hasn’t been too nervous.”

“Right away, Mrs. Balor.”

As the woman in all white leaves who I’m assuming is a nurse, leaves, she wraps me in a towel and hands me off to a woman on a hospital bed.

As I lifted my hands after a hellish effort, I see that both my hands are very small with a reddish hue.

Wait. Doesn’t this mean I’ve turned into a baby? Wait, what did I turn into a baby from?

As I try to remember any semblance of my past, a man comes in looking like he came bathing out of a river.

“Selene, i-is that our new son?”, says the man as he was sweating buckets.

“Come, look at him, Tom. Look at how cute he is.”

Ok, the things I’ve understood from that entire exchange is:

I’ve turned into a baby and have been born as the son of Tom and Selene Balor.

The fact that there is a profession called healer means that either this world contains magic or is in medieval times. Looking around I see many things that are not supposed to be in a medieval worl-

Again, how do I know these things? Rather, aren’t I a baby? So, how do I still have the ability to think like these? Shouldn’t I be crying and cooing?

I shouldn’t think about this right now. Have to assess the situation I’m in.

“What should we name him?” asks Tom.

Right, a situation where I’ve turned into a baby bearing knowledge from god knows where. How amusing.

I must’ve unconsciously let out a laugh because next the woman called Selene who is my mother here says,

“Look at how brightly he’s laughing.”

“How about we name Sol?” says Tom.

“Did you seriously consider naming him Sol because I’ve said he laughs brightly?”, asks my mother.

“What? You don’t like it?”

“Well, I never said I didn’t.”

After hearing this, my father looks at me.

“Then it’s settled. From now on your name is Sol Balor.”

...What do you mean from now on? It’s like you picked a nameless kid up from a street and gave him the pleasure of being your son. Tsk, stop trying to act so cool.

“Tsk, stop trying to act so cool. Here, hold your son in your arms.”, says Selene.

Thank you for speaking my mind. I guess you really are my mother.

That warrants a good laugh, as I think and laugh as my mother hands me off to my father.

“See look how happy he is coming to my arms.”

My mother pouts. Seeing her face, my father chuckles.

As he cradles me in his arms, he says in a whisper, “I have a feeling you’ll be able to shine brightly anywhere, won’t you Sol?”

I look up to see his warm and adoring gaze. I think to myself,

I hope I can always feel this love from you.

After a while, my father returns me to my mother and tells her to rest.

Hmm.. what's this? I feel hungry. How am I supposed to eat? Right, I should let my mother know.

I’m hungry. Give me something to eat.

But the words don’t come out. All I hear is me cooing.

Hearing my calls, my mother asks, “What’s wrong, honey?”

As I try to let her know I’m hungry through more cooing and waving my arms, I start to feel hopeless. Because all she does is looking at me with a puzzled look.

Fuck it!

I start wailing.

“Are you hungry? You should’ve said so earlie-”

…....

Excuse me, what?

“Oh right...”

It seems she understood her mistake. After feeling embarrassed over her mistake, she starts to breastfeed me.

After having my delicious meal, I start to doze off.

Also, if you’re asking why I don’t feel embarrassed over being breastfed, let me tell you one thing: Food and survival first, feeling embarrassed later.

As I doze off, I have only one thought in my mind:

It doesn’t matter what happened in the past. Here, I'm Sol Balor and this time, I’ll lead a happy and peaceful life.

------------------------------------------------------

It’s been 5 months since I’ve been born. And during this time, I’ve understood some really good things, albeit a bit weird.

Firstly, magic is a thing in this world and those that use it are called wizards and witches. I would’ve liked it to be mage but I really can’t do anything about that.

Also, not all people are mag- I mean wizards. Some have no mana in their body. They’re called.....muggles.

Excuse me, what is that word? Muggles? Now that I think about it, I don’t think there was a distinct name for non-magic folk.

Secondly, my mother is a witch while my father is a muggle. My mother, Selene Balor is a young woman in her mid to late 20s with a beautiful face, porcelain-like skin, graceful demeanor, neck-length black hair, and brown eyes filled with warmth. Her gaze and affection warms me and makes me happy.

My father, Tom Balor is a handsome man in his late 20s with a mature vibe but his ocean-blue eyes contain a hint of playfulness. He has short black hair and a decent frame. His large warm arms as he cradles me gives me a sense of security and peace.

What is happening to me? I’ve never felt this before?

My father goes to an office job while my mother stays at home to do the housework and to take care of me. It seems people know and accept people with control of mana if muggles and wizards can marry each other.

Thirdly, we live in a country called England and on Pivot Drive. It seems our house is close to my father’s workplace. And there is a school for young witches and wizards to learn magic here. And almost all wizards start studying there at the age of 11.

One should share knowledge with others to avoid unforeseen circumstances. This is a good sig-

The school is called Hogwarts.

Oh..... excuse me ‘Hog’ what now? What kind of name is THAT? Why would you name your school that? Isn’t a hog just a pig without balls? Warts? WARTS? Yes, warts.....

Haaaaaaaaaaaaa........

Anyway, I know these things because my mother tells me these things as a sort of bedtime story. Well, she told me the third thing when she was tending to my needs and told me about Hogwarts as a bedtime story.

Hogwarts was founded hundreds of years ago by four legendary wizards and witches: Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin.

Salazar Slytherin, huh? Let me guess, this dude is evil and likes snakes. For fucks sake, you have the word ‘Slither’ in your name.

Oh, my assumption is correct. I was told next that the students in the school were divided into 4 houses based on the founders' last names. They also had a coat of arms: a lion for Gryffindor, a snake (called it) for Slytherin, a badger for Hufflepuff, and an eagle for Ravenclaw.

An eagle for Ravenclaw? An EAGLE for RAVENclaw. Yep, fucking fantastic. Anything else? How about a goat for Slytherin? No? Ok.

They’re separated by color as well. They are Red, Green, Yellow, and Blue for Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw respectively.

There’s also a requirement for these houses. Courage for Gryffindor, Cunning for Slytherin, Loyalty for Hufflepuff, and Intelligence/Wisdom for Ravenclaw.

Why are there requirements as well? What are you gonna do if one person has 2 of those qualities? These requirements aren’t contradictory in the slightest. One can also have all these qualities and it wouldn’t be strange at all.

Also, there is a god amongst men as the principal for the school. His name is Albus Dumbledore (and that’s the shortened version of his name) and is the strongest light wizard. Huh, do people revere him as a god or something? Because my mom’s (exaggerated) description of him alludes me to believe so. She goes starry-eyed every time she speaks of him. She also studied at Hogwarts and was a Ravenclaw.

Well, I can see that. She’s already teaching her kid about the world even when normal babies wouldn’t understand anything.

Wait, does she know I can think properly? No, no, if she knew it would’ve been a bit more apparent.

Anyway, I wanna meet this Dumbledore see why people revere him like a god.

I have noticed that there are some lights and a fan in my room that don't seem to be powered by mana. That's a good sign. At least, the technology looks decent though I don't know what its powered with. If they have found an alternative source of power, then I look forward to the technologies in this world.

Now, a less than optimal news, we’re still in the middle of a war........

Fuck......
