《Flight of Icarus》Afterword

Afterword
And here ends the journey. It’s been years since it begun. I still remember the way it started, reading Legendary Moonlight Sculptor, a myriad of fan fictions. I enjoyed them but at the same time, pridefully, like all writers, I thought I could do it better. I could write something that not only I, but others could also have fun with.
And so I sat down, picked up my phone and wrote.
It’s been two and a half years since then. One hundred chapters since that day. Some of them were decent, some great while others, better they be forgotten. No one is born perfect as they say.
Still, through all those trials of mine, many of you my readers stayed. It shouldn’t have been easy. Most likely not. At times, I wondered myself what I was doing, going where. But then, a comment or a review would show up, a measly “Thank you!” and I would suddenly feel invigorated. Even if I had no idea where my destination lay, all I had to do was keep on moving. That’s what mattered.
And now it’s done. The journey is over. Last chapter posted, finishing lines written, final period stamped. The task has been accomplished.
Flight of Icarus is complete.
For this, I have to thank you all my wonderful readers. From the very beginning you have supported me with your encouraging comments and various ideas, suggestions. I would love to name each and every one of you but that would take hours, hours that are so few and precious in an author’s life.
My mind is already unable to stay still; wishing, planning, conjuring all the stories I could work on. For two and a half years I was married to Flight of Icarus. It was a wonderful time, but now my mind seeks something new. I had thought of continuing the story in Dark Descent, made plans and storylines but the VRMMORPG genre feels like a shackle now rather than an extension it should be.

Because of this, I’ve decided to run to pure fantasy with a scent of dystopia. For now, the story is tentatively named Dream Chaser but I might still change it.
It will be a story of a world destroyed by magic going wild because of one person, not even a mage. A girl and two guys will meet and try to make sense of what’s left, help those in need and find that destruction doesn’t change human nature as much as one might think.
This is just the general idea that will stay true, though, the characters and events might change. If interested, please, join me once more on another wild adventure. I don’t know when it will start or end, but it will happen. That’s the promise I can make.
Flight of Icarus was my first born and, though, I wasn’t perfect, I did my best. It is what it is, and I leave you my dear readers to judge. For your entertainment as much as my own, I let Kirin into the world and I don’t regret it. He will always have a special place in my heart, that little rascal with a taunting smile and shining blue eyes.
There’s so much more to say, so much more to share but, I think, this should be enough. You have all been here, seen my struggles and made your own decisions. I bow before you all, thanking with all my heart for the time and respect you gave me. I’ll never forget the times of joy and elation brought by your words.
THANK YOU!

At its core, magic is just the ability to change the laws of nature. Mason Grant's life was going just as he'd always planned. Then a knock at the door changed everything. Normally, he would have considered Professor Anklin's tale of a civilization destroyed because it had learned how to manipulate the laws of nature crazy. Of course, that was before he saw his couch resting on the ceiling. Travelling to Myscreth with the Professor, Mason discovers a world of contradictions. On a ruined world, the Myscrethian people live much like the early American settlers, yet thanks to the ability to manipulate the laws of nature there’s unlimited electricity and powered flight. As Mason begins learning to control abilities he never dreamed possible, he discovers that not all is as it seems. Even as the Myscrethian people try to rebuild their world, there are those who seek to once again unleash the power which led to its destruction. And this time it's not only Myscreth's fate that hangs in the balance, but Earth's as well. Author's Note: This novel is now complete.

8 57LITTLE GREEN MEN • Book 1
As nineteen-year-old Alex Dash cares for his six-year-old twin siblings, Henry and Annabelle, he is forced to navigate a post-cataclysmic world full of hostile entities. Dogs that seem more aware than they ought to, sentient plant-life, nomads aimlessly wandering...Rescued by a farming colony called Community, Alex meets Eva Monroe. She is mysterious, but also familiar somehow. When Alex sees strange lights in the fields, he begins asking questions that no one seems willing to answer. Together, Alex and Eva discover a secret. A secret that no one in Community saw coming...or did they? I will also post some of this story on Royal Road.Excerpt: To the right of the road the land rose sharply to a hill. Alex's gut tightened and fluttered as he realized their current location was not a wise one; low ground was a disadvantage in a conflict. Alex had a bad feeling, a hunch that he wasn't the only one searching. His attention was drawn to the top of the hill. Something was up there. They were being watched.
