《Kindred》Chapter 8 - Miss in Library? No Way!

“Miss, we have arrived at the city, is there any place you want to go?” A maid outside of the palanquin asks.
“Library.” Miss says coldly.
… Huh? I look at Miss in confusion.
Is it going to rain soon?
“Fufufu.” Miss laughs at my confused face, wraps her arms around my waist and rests her chin on my head.
The air outside is quite chilly, I’m glad I didn’t have to walk.
Soon, the palanquin lowers down and the curtain opens. The maid is staring at us in bewilderment. Uuu… this is somehow embarrassing.
“Miss, we have arrived.” The maid informs Miss.
Suddenly, I feel palms gripping me under my arms and I’m lifted.
“Hold her for me.” She passes me to the maid. Uuu… I’m not a thing.
I’m pushed in between two soft pillows. The maid who caught me looks… happy? for some reason.
Miss then gets out of the palanquin, takes me from the maid’s hold and puts me on the ground.
“Miss, would you like me to accompany you inside?” The maid asks carefully.
“No need.” Miss says, grabs my hand and drags me up the stairs which lead to the library. I look back towards the maid, she somehow looks dejected? This is very strange. The maids that serve Miss would be instead crying in joy that they don’t have to accompany Miss.
Putting my questions aside, I look forward.
A sign that says THE MARTIAL LIBRARY hangs above the entrance.
Huff… huff… I know understand why it is called The Martial Library.
Huff… how many steps are left?… I sweat drips from my forehead.
“Are you okay?” Miss looks at me worriedly. I look up to show her that I’m okay, expecting Miss to be in a similar state as me.

How?…
She looks just like she looked in the palanquin… no, she seems to be refreshed?
Ahh… Since the accident, I can’t figure Miss out.
I must stay strong and show that I’m a useful servant.
Smile, smile.
“If you say so…” Miss says dejectedly? Why! I’m okay, shouldn’t that be a good thing!?
10 minutes later.
Huuuuff… finally… huff… I thought I was going to die…
As we step inside, we are greeted by an old man.
“Good job making it up here, mortals.” He says while smiling from ear to ear.
“Are you looking for anything specific?”
“No, just looking around.” Miss answers shortly. Normally, Miss would ignore such insignificant side character, yet she cupped her fists together and pulled me away.
She then goes from book to book, from shelf to shelf, from floor to floor, until we arrived at the fourth floor.
Her eyes suddenly started sparkling.
I look at the target that sprung my Miss’s interest.
Ancient cultivation techniques?
No way. Only the experts in the field of Ancient text can somewhat understand its contents.
There’s no way Miss can read the Ancient text… right?
All my common sense is broken when Miss started reading the titles of the books.
“The Way of Not Fighting.”
“Lightning Stormrage Cultivation Technique.”
“Ying Yang Heart Protecting.”
“Cultivation of the Mad Dragon.”
“Ancient Strengthening Technique.”
“Jade Reinforcement Cultivation.”
………
Miss somehow looks disappointed.
“Nightmare Essence…”
……..
“This is it!” She suddenly shouts.
Her hands trembling. She mutters quietly with a small smile,
“Kindred Spirit Link.”

NOTE: A review on this fiction has indicated that certain themes were traumatizing. While I believe this to be exagerated, I have added the appropriate tag for those who may be sensitive to those themes (fever dreams, delusions, and trials and tribulations).

One to wander the realm in search of power, to protect themselves and what they believe in. They know their path to be the only one. Writers note: The first chapter will set the standard in terms of mood for the remainder of the story. It also comes to no surprise to me that half the people who read the first part stop reading any further. It has quite a bit of the good ‘ol ‘ultra-violence’ mixed with a great deal of realism. As much as I could fit into it from my own knowledge and experience in the elite forces. The first few chapters will be slow, after, but starting from ‘Restless Destroyer’ the remainder of the world will start to open up, and when we hit ‘Adronitis’ the prologue is largely finished. The novel is well thought out and filled with hidden lore, culture, history. So even if my word choice appears random – it’s not. There is a reason why these chapters take as long as they do. Vermodalen is fantasy adventure, with magic and heroics in an as realistic setting as I could fit. Things are rarely what they seem, and the ugly nature of people bleed through the letters at the turn of every page. I hope you can give this story a fair chance, even if it isn’t immediately to your taste. Lastly, english isn't my first language. It isn't my second one either. So, if you find errors in grammer and spelling, wordplay and sentance building, do let me know, and you will be rewarded by a surge of dopamine that will be released inside your brain for helping someone whom you haven't even seen or heard.

As she is titled as the Prophetic Mage. A young boy stood in a white world, there was no sun, no moon, nor darkness. He looked forward, he looked down. There were no boundaries, it was endless, nothing to indicate that there was something within the distance. He grasped his hands and looked upwards towards the sky as he lifted his hands up. A dark void appeared in front of him, but only to disappear once again. Voices entered his thoughts, pain struck his head, he gripped onto his hair and groaned in agony. He looked forward and saw an image blurred in front of him, fading in and out. “Young one... “ the blurred image simply spoke. The young boy didn’t say anything and only looked down at his wound on his chest. It was a large gaping hole that passed through him, however there was no blood spilling out from it, the veins and arteries only dangled in place where a heart was supposed to be. Realising the cause of this scene the boy asked. “Am… I dead?” “Hahaha, no not at all.” A wispy tired voice simply chuckled “Then… what do you want with a dead man… but my hands...boy?” “ Well Do you…” “Do I?” “Want to change fate?” Welcomed edits and suggestions.
