《The Life of a Dungeon》Chapter 44

POV Teaghan

The first thing Teaghan did was clear out and absorb all of the creatures residing on the first floor. With no creatures, monsters, or animals around, she could better change the floor's facade and environment. Once they were stripped off the floor, Teaghan stripped the plant life from the floor. But she kept the shape and layout of the floor, as well as the boss monster. She was only going to change the layouts for the creatures and plants.

In the four rooms on the first floor, Teaghan added eaholia pines and arranged them in circles. In a room, depending on its size, there would be at least three sets of rings, each getting smaller and smaller within each other. Once these trees were placed in the rooms, and the trees grew into the adult stages. What turned out of this was a dense area of tree clusters with thick canopies—the perfect spots for ambushes. Of course, Teaghan knew that this was only the first floor, and people are trying to make a living out of her creations. And since this is the first floor, it shouldn't be too lethal. She did want to make it hard to complete this level for newbies. For, if they're going to explore her dungeon and make a profit off of it, Teaghan wants them to work for it.

Within the tree clusters, she also placed bomba trees deep within them to draw in unsuspecting people or creatures with their sweet smell. Once the trees were in place, Teaghan added common grass to cover every piece of dirt covering the floor rooms, including the hallways.

Next, she needed to add a little light to the floor. Teaghan wanted to keep this floor in darkness but have the effects of bioluminescence to produce some light. And she knew exactly which plants to add to achieve this. Luminous moss placed on tree roots, foxfire fungus and wavy-capped mushrooms were placed sporadically throughout the rooms. White holly was placed intermittently throughout the canopies, and shield ferns were grown all around the floor to provide ample hiding spots.

Teaghan then turned to plantify the hallways next. Like the rooms on the first floor, she placed luminous moss and wavy-capped mushrooms sporadically through the dark hallways. Shield ferns lined the hallways, and white bat flowers and catalpa tarragona flowers were placed along the walls and ledges.

With Teaghan satisfied with the plants and their placements, she pulled up her dungeon interface to try to set an automatic regrowing of any messed up, tampered with, or destroyed plants.

She selected the edit floor option, but there was no automatic regrowing of plants in that section. So Teaghan tried the edit biome option. In that section, she was able to make it so that if the plant was disturbed or ruined by invaders or eaten by the creatures or monsters within the dungeon at different intervals and times.

With that, Teaghan went on to add the animals and creatures onto the floor and make sure that they are appropriately situated in the environment.

POV Chiura Ogi

“The dungeon has done it again,” groaned Chiura when she heard about what the Dungeon of the Lost had done, something weird again. This was not supposed to happen, the event of a dungeon willingly blocking anything from entering their dungeon. When they do, the dungeons are usually very, very old. But no, this dungeon core just has to keep pushing surprise after surprise. But what could she expect? It’s not like she could get one week without a major occurrence happening that required her attention.

“Why, oh why did I agree to this post” groaned Chiura as she rubbed the bridge of her nose.

“Because you would be bored without this job,” replied an unknown voice. Chiura quickly looked up and saw a person that she had not seen in years.

“What are you doing on this continent, Alexei?”

The man, Alexei, said, “There were rumours at an adventurers Guild on the Warnia side of the continent that the dungeon here has been acting very weird. Not the bad kind of weird, but the one that pulls people towards it.”

Chiura looked at the man that she has not seen since she had been an adventurer herself. Alexei looked the same as when she had last seen him. He still has two blue eyes, only a little bit of gray in his brown hair, no new scars that she could see or any visible physical ailments. But he did grow a beard, which she did not know if she liked or not. But Chiura was glad to see that Alexei was still alive and adventuring.

Alexei smirked at her. “Well, you haven’t changed one bit. Still as allergic to paperwork as ever.”

Chiura sighed, “I assume that you will be staying for a while?”

“If the dungeon proves to be even more interesting than what I have heard, then yes, I will be potentially staying here for a while.”

“Well, I better get going. Try not to drown in paperwork” smirked Alexei as he walked out of her office.

Chiura, who remembered how annoying he is, threw a book that she grabbed at his head as he walked out. But he dodged it at the last second and laughed.

“Oh boy, I have a feeling that a tidal wave of paperwork is going to come my way soon.”

POV Alexei

After seeing his old teammate and bugging the crap out of her, Alexei set out to do what he needed to since coming to Porta, visiting the dungeon.

He had heard about many of the irregularities that the dungeon had produced and done. It has done things that only older dungeons can do, and amazingly, it has drawn in the almost hermit, archmage Orius. But what really drew Alexei’s attention to this dungeon was the supposed mana wave that happened near the dungeon. Within this mana wave, there have been rumours spread by people who record anything that happens to or near dungeons that the mana wave created a mana leyline within the dungeon’s depths.

Alexei walked down the path towards the dungeon and took in the entrance. The dungeon’s entry was fascinating. It was rare in his experience to see such a decorated entranceway associated with such a young dungeon. But it also had a name carved into it, the Dungeon of the Lost. Dungeons naming themselves is somewhat rare, but it is always associated with some aspect of themselves when they do.

Alexei reached out and touched the barrier blocking anyone entrance into the dungeon and smiled.

He stared into the dark tunnel and said, “I can’t wait to see what secrets you have in there.”
