《The Life of a Dungeon》Chapter 34

Teaghan, in hopes that Jack and the excavator kobolds found some fossils, turned her attention to the cave system. When she looked into the cave system, she saw holes in the ground and in the wall, dug at various depths, with the kobolds currently digging another hole. These holes spanned about half of the area of the cavern system that is part of her domain.

When she looked in the holes, she could see pieces of bones, fossils, and rocks with carvings on them. Teaghan carefully absorbed them one by one, going from one spot to another, except for the one that the kobolds were currently working on. After she was done, she pulled up the blue screens for the fossils that were discovered.

Tiktaalik

An ancient species of fish that was pretty common before its extinction. This fish species had both gills and lungs and had the ability to crawl across short distances outside of water. This species also has a jaw and teeth very similar to an alligator.

Rotodonyx

A small ancient species of seabird. This bird is relatively small, about the size of a seagull. It had bony teeth on its bill and was a glider that would dive into the water to catch fish.

Ocean Pipe Snake

An extinct species of snake that had four poorly developed flippers. This snake will grow depending on the size of its environment. It also contains a type of venom not seen in eons.

Montesia

A species of extinct flowering aquatic plant that was found in tropical oceans. This species would often be found near underwater gravesites, as it feasted on bone marrow.

Apidae

An extinct species of primate that lived near tropical oceans. It is a small, tree-living primate with a long tail and tufts of fur. This species has enormous eyes, allowing it to see both in the day and night.

Tablet of Ilos

An ancient tablet of an ancient religion filled with the writings, symbols and pictures of the sun wolf, Ilos.

Tablet of Senos

An ancient tablet of an ancient religion filled with the writings, symbols and pictures of the moon cat, Senos.

‘Wow,’ thought Teaghan. ‘I guess the effects of the effects of the title “paleontologist” really works.’

She was amazed that she found so many different types of fossils in this general area that don’t seem to be related in any way. ‘But,’ thought Teaghan, ‘this is a new world, who knows how extinction events and the like happen.’

It was also not that surprising to Teaghan to find a piece of that religion she discovered in one of the caves off of the main cave system area.

But, Teaghan stopped herself from thinking any more of this before she went off on a tangent. Anyways, she went back to designing and creating her fifth floor, and she knew that she could add four out of the five species, but first, Teaghan had to re-create them. Teaghan pulled up the bones of each fossil separately and used the ability, “create”, to fill in the areas of the creature that were missing and such. After she had a good picture of what this species looked like when it was alive, she summoned a male and female of the species and let them loose on the floor.

Teaghan decided that she would use the petonx lizard, rotodonyx, apidae, and ocean pipe snake on her fifth floor. She placed multiple breeding pairs in the water and onto the living islands.

After Teagan finished placing the fossils onto the fifth floor, and when she decided that she was done with the fifth floor, a blue screen popped up.

Congratulations! You have unlocked the Dungeon Store.

‘Oh?’ thought Teaghan. ‘I unlocked the dungeon store already?’ She was very surprised when the blue screen popped up because she had completely forgotten that she would have access to the dungeon store once she completed her fifth floor. Anyways, Teaghan, who was excited to explore this new avenue of resources, pulled up her dungeon interface.

When she pulled up her dungeon interface, she saw that the dungeon store section was not crossed out. Teaghan selected the dungeon store section and the dungeon store interface popped up with information on how to use it.

Welcome to the Dungeon Store!

The dungeon store is a place where dungeons can buy anything for a price. The dungeon store uses a currency of dungeon points or DP. DP can be gained through achievements and floor creation, but it can also be gained by selling a product that the dungeon has created in the store. Dungeons can develop or find unique products and can sell the blueprint of the product in the dungeon store indefinitely. When that product is bought by another dungeon, the DP gained from the sale will be sent to the original creator of the product. Another aspect of the store is trading. Instead of selling and purchasing, two dungeons can trade blueprints of products they want that have a similar DP value. You can find dungeons that are willing to trade through the trading interface with advertisements.

After Teaghan finished reading the welcome statement and the dungeon store’s information, she pulled up the store’s interface.

Teaghan opened up the buying section of the dungeon store and saw that there were many categories.

When she pulled up the interface’s buying portion, there were so many sections as she scrolled through the categories. Teaghan selected the animal section, and up popped another blue screen.

She selected browse, and rows upon rows of available animal blueprints with the DP prices came up. Teaghan browsed through the selection and found something that popped out to her. It was a basic crocodile that cost 1 DP to purchase. She decided that she wanted to purchase this animal and selected the buy option. When Teaghan did this, a blue screen popped up.

You have purchased the blueprint of a “Basic Crocodile” from the dungeon store.

1 DP has been deducted from your DP total. You now have 146 DP left.

With her purchase, the blueprint of a basic crocodile appeared in her mind, and Teaghan was able to create it. She instantly recreated a couple and placed them on the fifth floor, as this floor was perfect for them.

With that, Teaghan went back to exploring the dungeon store.
