《The Life of a Dungeon》Chapter 14

When the kobold that she sent out brought back the large cat, Teaghan was excited. She thought that the cat would be a great addition to the third floor. So, she absorbed the animal and waited to read its description until she finished placing the plants.
After finishing placing the plants on the floor, Teaghan placed the dragon trees all throughout the floor. In turn, this created a hot, wet, and constant amount of fog throughout the floor. When adding the trees, she ensured that there were dirt paths that led to the boss room.
She looked at her floor and decided that it was time to separate the floor into three sections. On the left side was the spider’s territory. The right side was the kobolds territory. At the top surrounding, the area around the boss room was the trap section.
In the trap section, she made exischal and the trappa in higher concentrations due to their attacking and hypnotizing abilities. She also placed lower concentrations of these plants in the kobold’s territory. Though she only placed a small amount near the border of the spider’s territory.
As a reward, Teaghan placed tia tia vines in each territory's centre, not close to any of the paths. She also placed wavy-capped mushrooms closer to the path as potential rewards for those lucky enough to look and find them.
Next, she filled the rest of the dungeon with common grass, white bat flowers, shield ferns, and a few catalpa tarragonas. As the final plants, Teaghan placed foxfire fungus and sunglow all throughout the roof. Teaghan hoped that when full, the sunglow moss would release water and create a torrential downpour for a couple of minutes. When she was finished, it looked like a sub-tropical rainforest, just without any animals.
But before she started on anything else, Teaghan decided to set up a couple of small rooms for cross-breeding with small ponds in the middle of each. Each room had a specific purpose. The first room was for the fungus and mushrooms, the second was for the smaller plants like ferns and flowers. While the last room was for the trees and non-monster vines. When she added these plants, she activated the cross-breed ability and decided to leave them be for a week.

Next, Teaghan decided to focus on the traps. One of the ideas that she had been mulling for a while was poisoned spikes that, if activated, would fly out of the wall to their target. Of course, she could not do that exact idea for this floor, so she modified it.
She imagined a type of movable golem made up of dirt, mud, and iron in her mind. The first thing that Teaghan designed was the skeleton of the tree. She shaped iron into a shape like a stick figure tree drawing. She made the trunk and branches stronger and more enforced with the iron. Then she compacted dirt and mud and covered the iron. To make the tree look more realistic, she added bark patterns in the mud and added green leaves taken from other trees and placed them onto the branches.
The trap portion of the tree would be needles coated in the paralytic venom of the catella caterpillar. The needles would shoot out of the tree if a person would get too close and would be placed in the trunk and some of the bigger branches.
When Teaghan finished with the tree, two blue screens appeared.
Pine Trap Golem
A type of golem made from dirt, mud and iron, and shaped into a tree's shape. This golem can gradually move from its spot by using its roots. It will use its roots and shoot paralytic needles as a means of attacking and defending.
Congratulations! You have learned the Geomancer ability.
You have earned 2 DP.
‘Huh’ thought Teaghan. ‘I get an ability for doing that?’ she wondered while shaking her head.
Teaghan then pulled up the abilitie’s description.
Geomancer
This ability allows the user to use the earth. People that can use this ability have a high affinity with earth mana. They can use this ability to attack, defend, and shape the earth.

She smiled and laughed, proud that her idea worked. Her idea even gave her a new ability that was very useful.
With that, Teaghan produced more of the trap golems and placed them around the floor's trap section.
Teaghan also made a couple more traps. Of course, she added the same ones that she had in previous floors throughout her floor, but she also added some new and improved ones.
She took the footfall traps and added different poisons, acids and paralytics to them and placed them throughout the dungeon.
Teaghan decided to leave the rest of the traps until she finished with everything else.
With the traps mostly completed, Teaghan moved on to creating the creatures and monsters.
She added cotton-tail rabbits, sharp-shinned hawks, red foxes, a couple of chicane foxes, quickfoot horned rabbits, tanker horned rabbits, giant rats, and maned rats throughout the whole floor. When she summoned these creatures and monsters, they quickly dispersed into the foliage and scampered off.
With the creatures and monsters figured out, Teaghan focused on adding in new creatures and changing the other monsters that she will add into the dungeon and separate into the two sections.
The first creature that she focused on was the cat corpse that the kobold dragged in and absorbed. Teaghan pulled up the description and looked.
Tree Lynx
A species of large cat that lives and hunts in trees. This species has adapted to camouflage in its surroundings by having a light green coat with darker green, brown and black spots.
Liking the lynx's description and thinking about how it would go very well with the third floor, Teaghan summoned 20 of the cats and set them loose.
Just as Teaghan was starting on changing her next creation, her multi-task ability pinged her. It was the portion that was monitoring the cave system.
She quickly pulled her attention to the cave system. What she saw was amazing. The three kobolds that she sent to explore the caves have found bones. Large bones. But what was amazing was that the kobolds started excavating the bones. Through that action, they gained the job “Excavator”.

NEVER SPLIT THE PARTY: The Adventures of The Creeping Bam (BOOK ONE: The Job)
TAO is a broken world held together with nothing but magic and the will of the gods who protect it and its people. Then thousand years ago THE SUNDERING struck and Tao was almost torn apart by a terrible magical cataclysm which resulted in the planet almost being halted in its journey through the cosmos. It took all the power the gods of Tao could muster to restore its orbit and set it turning again, but in their efforts it was forever changed – its axis was drastically altered, and it now spins in such a way that one face of the world is forever turned from the sun it orbits, leaving half the planet in perpetual darkness. The various humanoid races that survived and now thrive within the habitable parts of THE DAY LANDS have come to live in perpetual fear of what lives beyond THE BORDERLANDS that separate them from whatever dwells within THE NIGHT LANDS, but for ten millennia it has kept its secrets. The land of RUNDAO languishes under the rule of their warlike Northern neighbours, the TEKTEHRAN EMPIRE, while a small, ragtag band of motley adventurers ply their mercenary trade fighting monsters and protecting the common man from the various dangers that haunt the night and prowl the hinterlands on the edges of civilization. THE CREEPING BAM have amassed a modest reputation in their years together, but they’re still just a small-time party of sellswords, thieves, outcasts and mages. They’re also exactly the kind of underdogs the people of Tao doesn’t yet realise are needed to save the world from the encroaching darkness they doesn’t even know is coming … This is a love letter and homage to the high-fantasy worlds of the tabletop RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder and Warhammer and the sword & sorcery cinema and literature I fell in love with as a kid growing up in the 80s, from Robert E. Howard’s Conan the Barbarian (and the awesome Schwarzenegger movie, STILL my favourite fantasy film EVER), The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit and Ron Howard and George Lucas’ Willow, to the more grown-up and edgy worlds of grimdark masters George RR Martin and (my all-time favourite) Joe Abercrombie, as well as a BIG DOLLOP of Terry Pratchett’s immortal Discworld series. IMPORTANT: This story contains material which some readers may consider to be mature, such as battle violence, some strong language and occasional mild sexual scenes. If this is not your kind of thing, this story is not for you. I am also serializing this story on Tumblr, Wattpad, Quotev and Sweek.
