《The Life of a Dungeon》Chapter 13

When that notification popped up, Teaghan was surprised. Never before had she encountered something that just had “???” as its name. When she tried pulling up its name and description, all she got was a warning.

Warning! You are not at a high enough level to view.

She tried it repeatedly, and all she got was the same warning that she was not at a high enough level yet.

When Teaghan showed this to Lilith, she stared at the seed in awe.

« Do you know what this is? » said Lilith in awe. « This seed could potentially produce something legendary or mythical. I can not believe how lucky we were. »

« Legendary? Mythical? » asked Teaghan, not fully knowing what they meant but knew that it meant something important.

« Legendary and mythical are part of the ranking system used by the System. The ranking system goes from poor, normal, unique, rare, legendary and mythical. Legendary items are extremely rare, and only a couple pop up every couple hundred years. While mythical items are ones that are only created by the gods. » As Lilith explained, Teaghan got more and more excited, but she was also scared. Scared for what it meant when somebody or something found out that she had it, it could mean trouble and even death.

After discussing this, both Teaghan and Lilith decided that they were not going to recreate that seed until they were a lot more powerful.

But that also brought on another question, how did that traveller get these seeds. Did he steal them? Find them? Were they given to him? Either way, Teaghan and Lilith tried to answer this, no good possibilities occurred. And it was evident that people probably knew and were chasing him before he came into the dungeon. So there are people after that seed. Both of them agreed to hide it and study it while without exposing it to the outside world.

As Teaghan and Lilith were looking at the seed, the most annoying voice ever spoke up.

« Hello dearie, looks like you found my little present for you. »

Teaghan rapidly paled. Oh no, this was her fault. This could not mean anything good, especially since Zaella is visiting and talking directly to her.

« Now now, there’s no need for those thoughts. Also, why would you hide such a beautiful gift and seed? »

When Zaella said this, she felt the seed leave her and appear in her core room. She didn’t know how Zaella did it, but it was now in front of her core.

« It would be such a waste to wait for this beautiful thing to grow, so I decided to come down here myself and do it for you,» said Zaella condescendingly. « So, here’s my gift to you. »

Zaella snapped her finger, and the seed started to sprout.

« Now, this seed will take a very long time to grow. So don’t squander or lose my gift,» said Zaella. When she said that, Teaghan got the obvious impression that Zaella was both a warning and threatening her.

«It’s time for me to go, so see you later, darling. »

With that, Zaella left, leaving both Teaghan and Lilith shaken and wondering how the hell they were going to conceal the seed now.

After many days off trying to deal with the aftermath of what Zaella did, Teaghan and Lilith decided to get back to making the third floor.

With the unknown seed growing in her core room, Teaghan decided to pull up the other seeds’ descriptions so that there would be no surprises like last time.

Dragon Tree

A rare species of tree that uses other trees as support. This tree, like its name, produces a constant heat.

Tia Tia

A species of vine that produces a particular type of fruit. If appropriately consumed, this fruit can be used to heal, but if consumed improperly can be deadly.

Trappa

This predatory plant species use a sweet-smelling scent to slightly hypnotize its prey to come closer to the plant. This plant will use its roots as weapons.

Sunglow

Contrary to its name, this moss species collects moisture in the air, and when full, releases it. This moss lives in high places and takes its name from the soft yellow glow colouring. This moss, at the end of its life cycle, will produce seeds.

Exischal

This species of parasitic tree feeds off the remains of anything near its roots. It has the ability to look the same as other trees in the area. If it consumes enough life and mana, it has the possibility to also evolve into a treant.

After reading the descriptions, Teaghan decided that it was time to try to create water mana. Like what she did with earth mana, she took a small puddle and injected it with mana. After a couple of minutes of injecting it with her mana, it turned light blue.

Deciding to once again use the eaholia pine in her experiment, Teaghan injected the water mana into the tree. Unlike when she did this with the earth mana when she planted it, there was a visible change to the tree. The tree’s pine needles grew wider, thicker, and slightly blue, while branches grew longer and more spread out. Quickly, each of the new pine leaves started creating a constant amount of mist around the tree.

Teaghan was quite happy with this experiment. She decided to spread the trees out around the room, enough so that the whole room had a small amount of fog flowing through the level.

As she watched and studied the water-enhanced trees, the part of her mind overseeing the first and second levels tugged at her. When she paid attention to what that part of her was saying, she understood why it pulled her attention. The second level floor boss was chosen.

When she went to see what happened, she discovered that the multi-task ability had a hidden function. Teaghan was able to review what that part of her mind was watching on the first and second floor. On the second floor, she saw that the horned rabbit’s, the monsters of the second-floor cavern, had been busy. Apparently, there were a lot of territorial and dominance fights happening.

These fights led to two things: a boss candidate had been chosen, and evolutions. The boss that was chosen was a large grey rabbit around the size of a Great Dane. It had apparently won multiple fights in a row without losing, and all Teaghan had to do was approve the candidate. Teaghan, deciding just to go with it, chose yes and watched as the horned rabbit changed and grew into the size of a small horse. The rabbit, who Teaghan named Velveteen after a book from her childhood, gained thicker plats, more muscular back legs, and his horn grew larger and sharper.

The horned rabbits, through those territorial and dominance fights, gained two evolutions. The first evolution, the quick foot evolution, increased the horned rabbits’ speed while decreasing the armour and defence they had. Like the boss, the second evolution gained more strength and armour but lost the ability to move as fast as their previous evolution.

When Teaghan was looking at these new evolutions, the multi-task ability pulled her to the entrance of the dungeon. The kobold that she had sent out to collect was back and was pulling back a large cat’s body.

Teaghan grinned; this was a great find that would fit into the environment of this floor.
