《The Life of a Dungeon》Chapter 12

Once they started on the third floor, Teaghan realized that she could split her attention to do multiple things at once. This gave her the ability “Multi-Task”, which was put into good use. She split up her mind into four parts. One part of her monitored the cave system, the second to slowly expand her domain, the third to observe the other floors, and she started working on the third floor.
Teaghan and Lilith decided to make one massive cavern about 100 metres wide and 50 metres tall. So Teaghan carved out the room and stairs and moved her core room to the end of the third floor. They envisioned a rising hill with a dense tropical forest for this floor, with the only reasonable way to get through would be to follow dirt and stone paths. The other way would be to go through the forest, which they would make a lot more dangerous and difficult to pass through, but have more significant rewards.
But Teaghan had an idea, an idea that was not implemented on her previous floors. She split up the floor into three sections: a kobold village, the spider nests, and the intelligence area. All these sections would be split by a mini river system that would flow out at the top of the hill.
When Teaghan thought of this idea, she realized that she had a problem. How was she going to get the water to do this? Remembering the underwater lake that was partially in her domain, Teaghan decided to create tunnels small enough that nothing too dangerous that lived in the lake could come through. The tunnels were large enough to run into the five water tanks that she dug out underneath the third floor.
Teaghan connected the water tunnels to the water tanks and let the water slowly fill up in each of them. As the water was slowly filling up the tanks, she decided to start creating the river system. Teaghan began with the source of the river; she created a small tunnel so that the water flowed out of the wall of the floor. Then she dug out the river bed, making it about 1 to 1.5 metres deep. The river having branches of small streams, the river ending up as a delta, before flowing back into the wall and into a water tank.

The next thing Teaghan had to do was actually figure out how to pump the water from the tank to the river and keep it going. Teaghan thought and tried many different ideas, but none worked until she remembered an object that she saw in her travels back on Earth. This object, called an Archimedes screw, is a type of pump that forces fluid from a source and moves it to a discharge location. This screw is made up of a hollow clay or metal cylinder, a spiral pump that picks up the water, and a screw that would turn the pump. The pump would then pick up small amounts of water into the first pocket, and this motion continues until the water comes out the other end.
When Teaghan created the Archimedes screw, she received a blue screen.
Congratulations! You have made an Archimedes Screw.
You can now use this screw automatically without having to turn the screw. This pump will also automatically move faster and carry more water with the use of your mana.
Once Taghan finished reading the blue screen, she injected some of her mana into the pump and watched as a steady stream of water came out and flowed down through the river. This was not as surprising to her, as the blue screen did say that it would move faster and carry more water. Still, she did not expect it to react as if it was a naturally flowing river.
When the river started flowing, Teaghan realized something, objects were flowing from the underground lake into the water tanks. She quickly absorbed these objects and added these objects to her domain. When she did this, multiple blue screens appeared.
Trahira Egg
A species of predatory fish that grows to around 120 - 150 cm. This fish is commonly found near countercurrent zones and will ambush prey. This species also has four to six fangs at the front of its mouth.

Toothpick Fish Egg
This fish species is a species of scaleless parasitic catfish. This species is translucent, eel-like and around 2.5 cm long. This fish feeds on blood and is commonly found in wounds. Once in the wound, it erects short spines that can cause hemorrhage and death if removed improperly.
Teleost Egg
This fish species is highly adaptive and can live in many different environments. This species grows to around 10 cm and lives in groups.
Tape Grass
This plant species is a deep-rooted fresh and saltwater plant that is long, limp, flat, and green. This plant will grow 1 to 2 metres above the base of the plant.
Cave Crayfish Egg
This crayfish species is a type of cave-dwelling crayfish. It is small, white opaque and has reduced eyesight. It lives along the banks of underground rivers and caves.
Teaghan, deciding to start populating the river before she starts on the rest of the floor, began adding things to the river. First, she added a mud floor in the delta and a pebble floor in the river’s central part. Then Teaghan added the tape grass and the cave crayfish in virtually every part of the river. Then she added the trahira in the delta and deeper parts of the river, and the toothpick fish and teleost were both placed throughout the river system.
Once everything settled with the river, Teaghan decided to focus on the forest portion of the floor. When she started working on the forest, she realized that she did not have any tree that would really fit in with what she wanted.
When Teaghan realized this, Lilith decided to speak up.
« Why don’t you try creating water mana and adding to one of the trees. Also, did you forget about the bag of seeds that the traveller dropped? »
« Aahhh, sorry » laughed Teaghan awkwardly.
She could not believe that she forgot to look at that bag of seeds. But she realized that Lilith gave her ideas to play with, and she went to work.
The first thing Teaghan did was to figure out what kind of seeds that the traveller had. She poured out about a handful of seeds and absorbed them, and received a notification.
Types of Seeds Found:
Dragon Tree x1
Tia Tia x4
Trappa x2
Sunglow x2
Exischal x1

He loves playing video games and his job at the local Buy More is tolerable. Of course that all changes the moment the system arrives and the Earth is connected to the Nexus. Turns out Kai was trapped in time for about eighteen months while the people already here got a headstart on him. He lucks into being rescued by some people from a town called Donnyton and learns that if he wants to survive in this New Earth he'll have to work harder than ever before. The rewards are worth it. This is Kai's story, the moments of his triumphs, and the moments when he feels that things couldn't possibly be worse. Thanks to puddles4263 and his story The Legend of Randidly Ghosthound for the inspiration on the world this is set in. If you have never read that I highly recommend it, and if you have read it and enjoyed that story then I hope you'll enjoy mine as well. This is the first story I'm ever putting out for public consumption so reader beware on that. Any constructive criticism is always appreciated, simply leaving a half star review tells me that you're a moron who doesn't know how to use words. I'm constantly trying to improve my writing and feedback and criticism on what works and what doesn't is the only way to do that at the point I feel I am at. Last, I just marked all the content warnings because you never know where a story will take you and I don't want to exclude anything (though there will never be a harem). I am going to release 1-2 chapters per week on Fridays. Thanks and enjoy.
