《The Life of a Dungeon》Chapter 6

A week had passed since Teaghan had widened the entrance, and well, the dungeon creatures have been very productive.
The kobold she sent out to find fossils had come back multiple times, bringing back two fossils and an old piece of bone. Teaghan had decided that since the kobold has been very productive, she decided to name him. She decided to name him Jack, after the paleontologist Jack Horner, who wrote the book how to build a dinosaur: extinction doesn’t have to be forever.
The next time Jack returned after one of the excursions she sent him on, he brought back a small fish fossil. But, when Jack came back to the dungeon, he received a class: Fossil Hunter.
Fossil Hunter
A sentient being has hunted for pieces of the past long buried. They look and look for fragments of the once-grand past. This class increases the chances of finding pieces of history buried millennia ago.
Chances of finding ancient remains and objects increase.
‘Huh, my monsters can gain classes?’ though Teaghan. ‘What else do I not know about them’ she wondered.
Teaghan looked at Jack the kobold, and nothing happened. She stared and stared and stared, but nothing happened.
She wondered if anything would happen, or if she could see anything about her monsters, like if they had a status or anything. Then like magic, as they always seem to do, a blue screen popped up.
Status
Species: Kobold
Name: Jack
Age: 1 Month 20 Days
Gender: Male
Class: Fossil Hunter
Job: N/A
Titles: N/A
Abilities: Fossil Tracker, Enhanced Digging, Storage
Teaghan looked over the status screen and wondered if it was the same for the other kobolds. She chose a female kobold who was weaving the leaves of a bomba tree to create mats and doors for their homes.

Teaghan chose her to compare with Jack and pulled up her status screen.
Status
Species: Kobold
Name: N/A
Age: 1 Month
Gender: Female
Class: N/A
Job: N/A
Titles: N/A
Abilities: Weaving
Teaghan compared both of their statuses and realized that there were multiple ways to gain abilities. She found out whether, through repetition, a job, or from a class, any sentient being can gain abilities.
She decided to look through all the other statuses of her monsters. Teaghan found that three of her kobolds gained jobs and classes. The jobs gained were hunter and gatherer, while the class gained was "warrior". Each gained abilities relevant to their jobs and classes.
The hunter scorpion ants have also been busy. They had built a nest that spanned underneath the first floor. The ants dug tunnels large enough that they could move through them, but if anything else went in, they would be lost in a never-ending maze. They also had a couple of evolutions, multiple digger scorpion ants, and one of them gained enough power to have the ruler scorpion ant evolution. This evolution was surprising because most ant hives were ruled by a queen, at least back on Earth. But these ants seemed to have both genders as possible leaders and rulers.
Even the actual dungeon environment and ambiance were doing quite well. All the new fauna, flora, and monsters had settled down into the first-floor food chain.
But the biggest thing was that a floor boss had been chosen for the first floor. One of the first kobolds that she summoned, who she named Alpha, had met the floor boss's prerequisites. Through continuously fighting on the frontlines of the recent creature invasions and sparring with other kobolds, Alpha evolved into "The Skirmisher". The class description stated that the class was a cross between a knight and ranger, with the martial capability and survival instincts of both classes. The class also grants the user a better sense of guerilla warfare and survival tactics.

With the first floor finally complete, Teaghan decided that it was time to expand her domain and start on the second floor. But before she started, she pulled up her status to see how much mana she was able to hold.
Status
Species: Dungeon Core
Name: Dungeon of the Lost
Age: 1 Month 30 Days
Mana: 500/500
Biomes: 1
Floors: 1
Dungeon Points: 125
Titles: Randomizer, Experimenter, Paleontologist
Abilities: Absorb matter, Alter environment, Merge, Create, Cross-Breed, Rebirth
Teaghan looked at her mana and realized that it had increased again. She wondered how that worked, but she put it off and decided to expand first.
Teaghan pushed down as far as she could go, and she got about 100 metres down before she ran out of mana. Once her mana finally filled up again, she started pushing North.
Teaghan got about 70 metres away from her core before she found something interesting; she found an underground lake. She kept on pushing into the lake but only got another 10 metres before she could go no further.
Deciding to not to look at the lake just yet, she kept on pushing to expand her domain. ‘And what do you know, I found another interesting thing,’ thought Teaghan sarcastically. But she actually found something, a naturally formed cave system to the west of her dungeon core.
Teaghan finally finished expanding and decided that she would explore the two new interesting finds.

Smoking Bandits
With a gaze that was hard to describe, Lark stared at his body in the mirror. Not his body as a human, but his other body. Head of a reptile with rows of sharp teeth, a 180 cm tall body that is full of muscles, covered in scales formed green and black tiger stripes. Clawed hands and feet, with a tail strong enough to crush an adult neck. 'Man. . . can I still be called a human?' In the end, with a deep sigh Lark changed his form back into a human. A moment later, he came out of the room wearing a combat dress, tactical belt with shoulder strap, and jungle boots. While inserting a magazine into an AK-102, Lark muttered. 'Whatever, time to hunt Orcs.' *****
