this is a repost where it seems my previous post was eaten some how... try post two... if the other shows up then i will remove this post...
“Sir Atheros,” a servant called out to me. “There is a slave with a message here to see you.”
I sighed and said, “Well then let him.” While thinking to myself “there are few people would send me messengers and most of them would only send it if it is important.”
The servant bowed and walked out of the room. A few second later a dark elf opened the door bowing slightly he said. “My lord, I bring a message from lord Fafnir.”
“Fafnir?” I thought to myself, “Why would he send me a messenger. He would normally wait till I show up to read the reports with him.”
“Speak then,” I say to the elf.
“I was told to tell you that lord Fafnir wishes to meet with you about our journey.” The elf said.
Thinking for a second, “why would Fafnir send someone for me?” I ask myself. “Maybe he just wants me to meet this slave.”
“What is your name?” I ask the elf.
“My name is Therin.” The elf replies.
“What else did Fafnir tell you to do besides to deliver the message?” I ask suspicious of Therin.
The elf paused for a second before answering, “he told me to get something to cover my neck and to fine something to eat after delivering the message.”
When he said this I look at the slave’s neck and I notice that he is missing a slave mark on his neck. I stood up and drew the sword on my waist. “You are no slave, who really sent you?”
“Hold I was sent by lord Fafnir, he removed the slave mark, and told me to come deliver a message.” he replied with his hands raised.

“How and why did he remove the slave mark? I asked sword still at the ready.
“I don’t know how, he did something to my neck and then it was gone. As for the why, in exchange for the removal of the slave mark I will serve him for the next 4 years and 364 days.”
Therin replied.
“I see,” I replied sheathing my sword, “you are dismissed.”
The elf, moving his shirt to cover his neck, walks out of the room. I gather the reports I normally read and head for the dragons lair.
----------------------------------POV – Fafnir’s ---------------------------------------------
“Hello, Atheros.” I said as I say him come through the door.
“Hello, Fafnir.” Atheros replied, “What’s up with the elf?”
“Ah, so you have met the acolyte that Thantos sent to conduct my magic lesions” I replied.
Atheros walked to the table in the corner and set his stuff down, “I have never met him before.”
“I figured,” I said to myself, “I guess Thantos is scared of me…” I start to chuckled remembering the look on his face when we first talked.
“So, what did you want to talk about?” Atheros asked.
“Well there are several things we need to discuss.” I replied, “Like travel arrangements, supplies, locations, and possible targets…” I list off.
“Well,” Atheros said, “the supplies will be covered by the king, as for the other things… I know where demons are attacking you will be hard to fit in most places. So we need to figure something about that.” At this point Atheros starts mumbling to himself. I could tell he has stopped paying attention and has gone off to his own place. I watch him as he sits down and starts writing things down. giving up on talking with him as he is too engrossed in his work
“I wish I could read their language.” I say to myself feeling a little depressed. I took a deep breath. I felt a bit proud of myself because the lights did not dim. A they had been doing for the past few days “Well if there is one thing I have been doing is learning how this body works.” I thought to myself.

After a little while I stood up and stretched. I spread my blue-white wings, and I watched Atheros jump at the sudden movement. then settle back into whatever he is doing
“Well”, I said to Atheros, “I think I am going to go outside for a bit to stretch.”
Atheros did not respond as he was too engrossed in his works. I walked to the oak like door and with my tail I pushed the door open. Daylight streamed into my normally dim lair, as walked through the door. I could see the surprise evident on the faces of the guards as they saw me walk out of my lair. I looked at the blue sky and I could see a few clouds drifting here and there. In the distance I could hear the clash of swords. Interested in the sound I move closer and there were several groups of people watching pairs spar; no one seemed to notice me as I moved closer. Watching the match I could see some of the guards or soldiers had skill. I took a few minutes before I heard someone yelp as they noticed the large dragon watching them.
“hello.” I said to the group of armed men, who had started to pull out their weapons.
“Wait,” one of the guards said, “are you the dragon that has been nesting in the old grain silo?”
“I was not nesting,” I replied a little annoyed, “but yes I am that dragon.”
I could see some of their eyes widen as they took their hands from their weapons. “That means this is the dragon that is going to kill the demon king.” One of the soldiers said.
“Those dirty demons will get it now.” Another guy shouted.
“I don’t have to worry about going to war now that I see how big the dragon is” Said another.
The group of soldiers crowd around me cheering, I felt uncomfortable with all the stares and cheers, that I let a deep rumbling growl escaped my mouth. All the soldiers took a step away from me fear evident on their face. At which point a familiar voice yelled, “Form up!”
I saw Cirden, dressed in his half plate armor, walking towards the group that surrounded me as they scrambled to get into formation.
“Hello, Dragon.” Cirden called walking up to me
“Hello, Snack.” I replied.
“Well, someone woke up on the wrong side of the hoard.” Cirden said while laughing.
“Interesting,” I replied putting a claw to my chin. “I did not think that a pile could have sides.”
This caused many of the soldiers to start to laugh.
“What brings you to this training field, trying to impress the guards with your beautiful form?”
I enjoyed the pleasure of the comment towards my scales before replying, “no I just needed to stretch a bit and the sounds of swords drew my interest.
“Well, boy and girls,” Cirden shouted, “I seem that we have to train harder. We need to impress the hero.”
A chorus of groans could be in in the field. The soldiers dispersed into groups and started to spar once again. I walked to a corner of the field and laid down to watch the soldiers train, Asking myself, “why do they need a hero?”
