Here is the other chapter as i said. there will be a poll on which of the chapters i should work/post next. and as i also said this is the other side of events seen from everyone else's point of view

“What do you mean you cannot find Skygge?” the king said, “the castle is only so big and there are only so many places she could hide.”
“Well, my liege, she said she was escorted to the garden and she managed to lose the guards…” the servant replied meekly. “We fortified the gates expecting this so we know she is in the castle but we have not been able to locate her.”
“Well, knowing her she is somewhere where she should not be.” The king said to himself. “Go look in the various forbidden areas of the castle, start in the forbidden library and work your way up.”
“Yes, my liege.”
Why did this happen now, I have enough problems with this dumb dragon.” The king said to himself, “how are we supposed to have a dumb beast as our hero? I just hope that this dragon tamer is as good as I hear.”
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Atheros opened the door to the crèche and the first thing he noticed the blood stain on the floor. Walking to the hatchling he could not see a scratch on its body. Though on his snout there was some dried blood.
“Well, little dragon you might not be as helpless as I though.” Atheros said while admiring the little dragon.
Atheros walked to the small table and placed down a small stack of papers. He then next looked at the pile of meat and could only see where he tried a few things.
“Well, if these are not to your liking, what did you eat?” He said while looking at the sleeping dragon.
Atheros sitting at the desk started looking at the reports from the surrounding towns. One report stated an increase of demon activity. Another report read of a dragon attack, but was lured into a pit trap and killed. Another spoke of an increase of civilian refugees from the outer settlements. Having finished reading the reports, he took the large book from the table. On the cover in a golden script was, ‘Draconic encyclopedia 12th edition’. Opening the book, he started to flip through the pages. After looking through about a fourth of the book, every entry was only the same description of a dumb beast with a different elemental affinity and food source. The lights began to dim again, standing up in the now dark room Thantos left the reports on the table and left the room. Having left the room he ordered one of the guards to have a mage recharge the lights in the crèche and running into a servant along the way mentioned about the blood stains. He made his way through the castle to the quartermaster’s area and grabbed a few candles. Walking back to the crèche I notice that the guards are no longer at their post outside the door. Not paying much attention it I open the door and there is a small girl wearing a blue dress standing over the sleeping dragon.

“What are you...” I started to say but then the girl turned around with a finger on her lips, and I recognized the second princess Skygge.
“shhhhh, or you will wake my new pet.” The princess said.
“New pet?” Atheros parroted back dumbfounded. Regaining his senses “that dragon is not your pet but the summoned hero.”
It was at this point that both the king and Thantos walked in the door.
“You were right my lord, she was here after all.” Thantos said.
“Skygge” the king started to yell, “What do you think you are doing in here?”
I was at this point that the, now larger, dragons opened its eyes and started to sniff the air.
“ahhhh, it is so cute!” Skygge shrieked as she jumped and started to hug the dragon. Both Thantos and Atheros grabbed the princess and removed her from the dragon.
“Skygge, I want you to leave this room this instance!” the king yelled, when a strange noise was heard. It sounded like a chugging hiss. Everyone hear this look at the dragon and it seemed to be laughing.
“Thantos, go grab the brooch of tongues!” The king ordered. “Could it be that this dragon is intelligent?” The king said to himself as he watched Thantos run out of the room.
Atheros went to stand in front of the dragon and kneeling slightly he said his name.
The dragon tried to repeat the sound, but came out as a like a grating squeal. After about five minutes Thantos opened the door slightly out of breath. “I have it my lord, I will use it to see if it is intelligent.” He said as he affixed the onyx brooch to his robe. Activating the brooch he stated conversing with the dragon. “You should hear me… and this should work.” Thantos said, the dragon replied in a series of squeaks and Thantos stiffened and went white as a sheet.

“Excuse me?” Thantos said once more to the dragon still looking rather pale. Another series of squeaks followed from the dragon. Then Thantos turning to the king said, “My king, with the Brooch of Tongues I am able to speak with the dragon.”
“Well then give it to the dragon and explain how to use it.” The king commanded.
Turning to the dragon he explained how to use the brooch and took it from his robe and tried to hand it to the dragon. The dragon tried to take it with his front claws but dropped it. Skygge moved to pick up the item and then attached it to one of its horn.
“So can you understand me now Mr. Dragon?” Skygge said.
“Yes, I can understand you.” the dragon replied in perfect Latherian.
“Well then,” the king said with a pained face, “I am king Vitur, Ruler of the Leaslic kingdom. I implore you to save the human race from the vile demon hoard.”
“What is in it for me to defeat the demon king?” the dragon replied. This question surprised everyone here. They were always told that dragons were dumb brutes, though powerful, many of them were tamed.
“Well…” the King said looking dumbfounded, he had not thought that this was going to be an issue. Quickly on what people like he replied, “Fame and glory… I guess.”
“If I may my king,” Atheros spoke up, seeing the pained look on the king face. “you will have a chance to build a massive hoard from the treasury of the defeated demon king.” Hearing this the dragon started to stare off into the corner for a bit, through Atheros was happy that the dragon was intelligent he felt like he was forgetting something.
“We can provide you with delicious food, besides me of course.” Thantos spoke while the dragon was still in thought. This caused the other people in the room to stare at him with a confused expression.
“I will be your friend,” the Skygge said out of place, causing a scowl to be directed to her on the king's’ face with the look that we will talk later.
“What say you, will you help us in our time of need?” the king asked, though it pained him to ask help from a non-human.
“I will see what I can do.” The dragon replied.
“Then what shall we call you, O Dragon?” the king asked.
The dragon thinking for a bit replied, “My name is Fafnir.”
After a round of introductions, the king left Atheros in charge to find appropriate food for the hatchling dragon.

8 131Beta Test
I'm sure I'm in for some colorful criticism, But if even a few people enjoy this, I'd be happy. As of right now the story is set in Delaware around 2005'ish'. A young man from the streets, aquires a beta test invitation in an unorthodox way. The plan is to have a comical adventure in an experimental virtual reality game. I can easily transition it to a full story if its well received. If not I hope atleast one person kinda likes it. P.s. This is a work of fiction, with made up characters. Any likeness is coincidence.
