《Ekalius Online》Chapter 8

Snow exited her gaming capsule and quickly ran out of her room. Lily walked out from her room and confronted Snow before she could go downstairs.
“What’s going on? Why … You’re hand’s burning blue again. Don’t tell me you have another tournament? You know the last girl you fought ended up in a coma for two weeks! I know it was a fighting tournament but still, your inner force is just too scary. The blue flame looks cold like ice and … She’s no longer here. I’m just talking to myself … I wonder if we have more ice cream?”
Snow entered her sky-blue sports car. It was a one of a kind custom made car with more technology than you would ever need in a car. The doors opened when she entered within range and the engine turned on. Anyone could tell that it was an electric car by the lack of sound from the engine, but its top speed could fool anyone into thinking that it’s connected to a rocket.
The car quickly made its way down the private road leading to the estate’s security gate. Snow quickly entered the road and headed straight for the city. The green forest and mountainous terrain quickly changed to skyscrapers and bustling traffic. She tapped her fingers on the steering wheel while waiting for the light to turn green. Her face was almost unrecognizable and anyone would run as far away from her as possible upon sight.
Her anger slowly increased the longer she had to sit and wait while everything her grandpa built is turning to dust. The light finally switched to green and she slammed the pedal to the floor, rushing through to the next intersection. The car arrived in front of Maze Security HQ and Snow walked out and rushed toward the entrance.

“Ms. Morgan how may-”
Snow threw her keys at the security guard and continued toward the entrance. She quickly walked to the reception desk and almost shouted at the man sitting behind the desk.
“Ms. Morgan, what can-”
“What room?!”
“I’m sorry?”
“I said, what room?”
“I’m sorry but Mr. Morgan is in an important meeting and-”
“That’s why I’m here. Now tell me which room.”
The young man began to shake at the sight of Snow’s blue flame covered hand. There was a glass screen between thetwo of them and he knew she couldn’t hurt him here, but that did nothing to settle his fear.
“C-conference room 4, floor 119.”
“Thank you.”
Snow entered the elevator and made her way up to the 119th floor. She walked out of the elevator with rapid steps and quickly found conference room 4. The door was guarded by a man and woman in a black formal outfit.
“Ms. Morgan please do not make this any more difficult than it needs to be.”
“Alice, move aside.”
“I can not do that Ms. Morgan.”
Snow looked at Alice with a cold glint in her eyes. She could probably win in a fight against Alice but she would be taken down by Richard before the fight could end. Snow sat down on a couch nearby and waited for the meeting to end. Her right foot constantly moved up and down as she tapped the floor.
Snow managed to calm down slightly and her anger began to turn into nervousness. The time quickly ticked by and the doors to the conference room finally opened. She could see the faces of all of Maze Security’s upper management. In the background was an old man. His upper body was hunched over a piece of paper, sadness clearly showing in his weathered eyes.

The meeting had officially ended and Snow quickly stood up from the couch and entered the room. She sat down in an empty chair next to her grandfather and waited for him to talk.
“You didn’t have to come.”
“How bad is it?”
The old man let out a long sigh and shook his head. He straightened his back and looked at his granddaughter with compassionate eyes.
“I’m sorry that I have failed you.”
“How could this happen? You have had 60% of the company’s shares since Robert died. How could they take over?”
“Robert was a good man, a close friend, and trustworthy business partner. But he was not without flaws. His lifestyle of constantly seducing women and throwing them away the next day has finally led to the company’s downfall. Although I never expected it to be like this.”
“No. No that can’t be true. Robert had no children. Why would someone wait all this time to come forth?”
Snow’s grandfather looked towards the doorway and locked his gaze on a well-dressed man in his mid 40s. Snow followed his eyes and let out a sneer when she realized who he was looking at. That man was none other than Oliver’s father. Oliver had always hated her and has been trying to take over Rising Embers for years. She couldn’t just kick him out due to his father’s position in the company and was forced to endure it. He’s been the Vice Guild Leader of Rising Embers for years and constantly made her life difficult.
She wanted to say something but was interrupted by the sudden appearance of a woman. The woman was in her mid-30s with short blonde hair. Her face showed signs of countless sleepless nights covered by heavy use of makeup. She wore a gray lifeless outfit like a carbon copy of any generic office worker.
The woman ignored Snow and sat down on a chair near Snow’s grandfather.
“Mr. Morgan I hope we can come to an agreement. This doesn’t have to end with you losing everything.”
“Ha. You’re an evil woman, Amanda.”
He looked at Snow with a thoughtful expression on his face.
“Jane, do you think you could succeed in starting a new guild in Ekalius Online?”
“What? I-I can. No. I will succeed again. But you don’t have to go this far. It will be difficult but we can still succeed with the fund we have now.”
“No that won’t work. I will trust everything to you. Use this as a way to learn from my mistakes. Create your own legacy in both the virtual and real world.”
“If you would sign here, here and here. Initials here and here.”
The old man signed the paper, his hands shaking ever so slightly. Snow could barely stand to watch her grandpa like this. She swore to build a new company more powerful than Maze Security could ever be. Her first step was to ensure that her Guild succeeds in Ekalius Online. She would then begin working towards establishing their very own village and eventually a city.
“Ms. Morgan. If you would sign here please.”
“What?”
“I need you to sign here to receive the payment for Mr. Morgans’ 30% share in Maze Security.”
Snow looked at her grandpa with questioning eyes. Was this what he meant? He actually wanted to give her everything?
“Do as she says. I’m too old to start over but your life has barely begun. Show the world what you can achieve.”
“I will not disappoint you. I swear.”
