《I Came Back In Order To See You》1-1 : Home and a lie

About 40 years ago, in the Pacific Ocean, a new continent emerged. Along with it, people started to develop strange abilities. Some could create fire at the tip of their finger, while others had their senses enhanced. As countries thought that this new land was the reason behind this they sent exploration teams to see if something was strange.

But after months of research, nothing was found. This continent was about the same size as Australia and no natives could be found. The vegetation was also not really developed.

Meanwhile the rising of ability users posed a lot of problems as the numbers of crimes related to them increased. In order to deal with them, a new group, the Abilities Regulation Union, was founded. Their goal was to classify all the abilities in the world and to solve all problems related to abilities users.

As the Abilities Regulation Union was a world-class group, the Headquarters needed to be located somewhere neutral. As the new land, named Pacifica due to its localisation, could not simply be claimed by a country, it was decided that it will become a neutral entity led by the Union. Pacifica developed its urbanization rapidly and became a place where people from a lot of different nationalities immigrated.

And now, in 2020, its population reached 150 millions. The majority of the population lived in the capital of Pacifica, Union City. It was also where was located the Union’s HQ.

It was precisely in this city that lived Talia Chevalier, first-year high school girl. She attended a medium-sized high school. She lived with her parents and her big brother. However, for some reasons she had ran away from home 10 days, in this dimension’s timeline, ago.

She disappeared in a small park during a rainy night without a trace. The family immediately contacted the police in order to find her. After days of search, nothing could be found. They could only think of the worst. But, the truth was really really different than what they could think…

Talia arrived in front of her house early in the morning. However, she dared not to enter. She was thinking of everything that happened these 50 last years. All these battles, fights, monsters, training, friends, foes, victories, defeats, smiles and tears. She could not help but be amazed when she thought that only 10 days passed in this world.

She took a deep breath and once again checked her clothes. She was not wearing the black and red futuristic armor. Instead, she wore a purple skirt with a simple white shirt. She looked like a normal town girl. Except for her blue hair.

‘ Fortunately I kept my clothes from this day. Otherwise, that would one more thing to explain…’

Talia was nervous about the situation. She had to find an excuse for her disappearance. She was not sure that her parents would believe her.

‘Damn, I was less nervous when I was against the Solar-level Spaceship in the Nealo Dimension.’

Eventually, she opened the door with her key and entered the house. When she saw the familiar entrance, she stood still. It looked exactly the same as her memory. As if all that she went through was a lie. However, she knew that it was not the case. The dragon earing was enough of a proof.

The scent of food came from the kitchen as the sound of someone cooking could be heard. Talia slowly made her way inside the house and arrived in the kitchen. She saw a middle-aged woman with an apron. She was cooking with an expression that lacked energy. Seeing this Talia felt her heartache and a few tears welled up in her eyes. She muttered: “Mom…”

The woman became motionless and she turned around. When she saw Talia her eyes opened wide in surprise. “Talia..” They each took a few step toward the other and finally Talia’s mom took her daughter in her arms as she was slowly crying. Talia also hugged her mom in response. After a moment, two men entered the piece and were also surprised by Talia’s presence. They silently approached in order to share the hug. They stayed there for a few minutes.

--------------------------------------

Four people were sitting at the table in the kitchen. Talia was eating breakfast with her family. She once again looked at her parents and her brother. Her mom was called Angelina Chevalier and she came from Russia. She was a bit chubby and her hair was blond. Her father, Adrien Chevalier, came from France. His hair was brown and he was a bit handsome despite his age. He was working as a salaryman in the Union’s HQ. His job was to regulate the declaration and classification of abilities. Her brother, Andrew Chevalier, was 20 years old. He took a lot after his father and was aiming to be a scientist. He wanted to research on the link between abilities and Pacifica.

Her family didn’t ask her right away what happened. However, after a few minutes her brother broke the ice first. “What happened ? Where were you during these 10 days ?” The others could not help but stop eating and look at her with a worried look. Talia waited for it, but she was already prepared to lie. Yes, to lie. She just could not tell them the truth because they might simply bring her to the nearby hospital for her head.

Because the truth was that she was abducted by the Protectors Of Worlds, a group led by a dragon that transcended mortal limits. This dragon that named himself Lord, hired a bit forcibly people with great potential. The group’s purpose was to protect worlds, where life was developed, from being internally destroyed. The group was located in the Stellar Temple, a place between dimensions.

So, Talia basically saved a lot and a lot of worlds, obtaining in the process a power close to that of a transcendent. She, of course, could not tell this to her family!

She pondered a few moments, but her brother continued without letting her talking. His expression seemed grave.

“Is it because of the bullying? Sanya told us about it when you disappeared. I will go see the police. It can not continue !” Andrew seemed angered by something as Talia looked clueless.

‘Bullying? Who bully who ?... Ah, I remember. I was used to be bullied in high school because of the color of my hair.’

Tali’s natural hair color was different from her parent’s not because her mother had an affair or anything like this, but because she didn’t possess an ability.

Every human who didn’t have an ability, had their hair turning a strange color during their childhood. Some could have their hair purple or others white. In Talia’s case, her hair turned blue when she was 6 years old. Unfortunately, it could create discrimination as they were labeled as failures of evolution.

She now remembered why she ran away that day. she could not take it anymore and she was at the limit of committing suicide. That was when she was taken away by the Lord.

But, this was from the past. Now, Talia could not care less about not having an ability, because she got many, many others powers.

Talia smiled warmly at her brother as she remembered the time she spent with him when she was little. He was always there if she needed help. “It’s ok. It’s true that it was because of this that I ran away, but I don’t care anymore. As for what happened during these 10 days, I met a group of wandering explorers and they accepted that I accompanied them if I helped. I needed time to think and I didn’t think of contacting you. I’m sorry.”

Her father and brother seemed relieved after hearing her. After all, It was not uncommon to see exploration in Pacifica. The land was large and a lot of places were still not discovered.

Every exploration was sent by the Union and exploration made by other groups were forbidden. So they were not worried about her safety if she was with an exploration unit. These group always lacked hands so it was not rare for them to accept students who wanted to have a fresh experience. it was basically a win-win situation. Only her mother still had a worried face.

“And Sanya? Did you contact her? She was crying non-stop when you disappeared.”

Hearing her mother say this Talia felt extremely guilty. She was thinking of this short girl. 50 years ago, Talia thought of her as her most precious friend, but after her abduction, she began to long for Sanya so much that she became her driving force.

“I want to see Sanya…” Talia muttered as she recalled her precious memories. Her mother finally smiled.

“Finish eating, take a shower and go see her at school. I’m sure she is waiting for you”

“Yes !” Talia regained her energy and started eating her mother’s cooking once again.
