《Saiyan in a Cultivation World》Chapter 14 - Recovery

On a bed, lying down, was a bandaged up, Fang Xiong. He was currently just looking up at the ceiling with his slightly hollow yellow eyes.
He didn't know yet but his eyes had permanently changed color from the orange amber from before to a metallic yellow but right now, he probably wouldn't care.
He'd woke up about 10 minutes ago and couldn't move. The redhead teacher who'd carried him here was in the room just a moment ago and said it was a wonder he could even breath with how broken his ribs were.
That was before she went off to look for a healer. Before she left she'd bandaged up the majority of the major splits in his skin from the beating he'd gained from Xiao Mei. While she was gone, Fang Xiong checked his body condition and simply thought about things.
His body condition was quite terrible. His ribs were pretty much crushed and his face and jawline had multiple fractures. His arms were fractured in multiple places and it was a miracle he could even use them as he did earlier in the fight.
His body was covered in bruises under the bandages and as a result, even lying down felt like hell and whenever he tried to move pain wracked through his entire nervous system like blades, so he just decided to lie still in the end and just think.
He thought about how one of the three people he truly loved and called family, had betrayed him. How she'd coldly cast him aside as if he meant nothing to her. He couldn't help but want to scream out his anger, he wanted to scream out his anger and destroy something, a part of him wanted to rage on and on and on until everything was dead and gone.
This rage started to collect in his chest and mixed with the sorrow there, the result being that his Ki started to get unsettled again like it was preparing to go berserk like before. Fang Xiong quickly closed his eyes and started to slow his breathing down.
He couldn't afford to go berserk in the state his body was in, right now he needed to heal.
But even when he thought about this, even though he knew he needed to heal so he could train, he so dearly wanted to let go and just let the rage out. His eyes that had just returned to normal began to redden again but purely from sadness this time, rather than rage.
Fang Xiong promised himself at this moment that as soon as he could train again, he would, and oh boy would he train.
He'd train until his bones creaked like they would break until his muscles went stiff until they'd snap and until his skin was bruised and torn like a dangerous toddler had a go at him with a knife and some scissors.
As he lay there, he could only think of one thing.
He would learn from this situation. He would become strong no matter the cost.
As his thoughts and feelings continued swirling around in his chest, he heard the door opening and someone talking to another person, "You should see him, Doc, his body is practically built for combat and his sheer vitality is phenomenal--Ah, you're awake? Good!" the redhead teacher was back and this time she had brought who Fang Xiong presumed was his healer.
Fang Xiong examined the person who'd come to heal him.
He saw a pretty short man, around 153cm tall, but he was built like a brick shithouse and had thick and burly muscles covering his body. His face was rugged and square as far as Fang Xiong could tell but the man's thick beard and long black hair covered most of his features.

Fang Xiong raised his eyebrows a little bit as he looked at the man in front of him. He remembered reading about his race in a book a few years ago. The race the man belonged to was a sub-species of the Fae race; A Dwarf.
They were quite short when compared to other species but they made up for it in sheer width and all of them, whether they were man or woman they were born with incredibly stout builds. Dwarves had incredibly keen senses as well along with high inborn strength, much higher than Humans.
It was only a shame they seemed to like support jobs compared to being soldiers which would use their talents incredibly well. Most of the time they became Blacksmiths or Alchemists, or in this case, Healer/Doctors.
Seeing Fang Xiong's condition, the Dwarf quickly ran up to him and gently placed a hand on the boy's neck, checking his pulse.
"Fuckin' hell woman, the boy's body's in bits! We walked from my bloody office and in that time he coulda died! Why didn't you tell me he was so hurt!" after saying this, he quickly started to inject a weird energy into Fang Xiong's body.
Fang Xiong just looked at the Dwarf before closing his eyes and turning his awareness inside himself.
He watched as the unfamiliar energy spread throughout his body and started to group together in specific ways. Once each of the pieces was made, they all started rotating and started to help put the body back together. It was like a formation.
Fang Xiong wasn't really concentrating on that, however, he was more focused on the energy itself and what it was.
It was similar to both Ki and Qi; Calm and collect but also wild and slightly volatile. Suddenly Fang Xiong put 2 and 2 together and figured it out. The man was making a formation in his body and it was an energy he'd never felt before, and there was only one main type of energy he'd never felt before that could make formations; Spirit Energy.
Fang Xiong figured out that this Dwarf was a Spirit Cultivator.
Thinking about this, he thought about what his Master said about these kinds of cultivators. But looking at the one in front of him who was trying so dearly to help him, Fang Xiong couldn't help but wonder what happened to his Master regarding Spirit Cultivators. Was it similar to what happened between him and Xiao Mei?
As he thought this, the Dwarf treating Fang Xiong let out a sigh of relief before backing away from the boy and back over to the redhead's side, "You're right about the boy's body, Freya. His body structure is too solid to be a Human," the Dwarf briefly looked over at Fang Xiong before looking back, "You know about his tail, right? So he's a half-Kin and that explains some of his strength but even Kin aren't as outrageously built as this lad. If someone asked me to realistically build the ideal warrior? I'd make something incredibly similar to this kid. He has the best traits from Humans, Fae and Kin."
The redhead, who was apparently called Freya, nodded her head at what the Dwarf said. What she didn't expect was for the Dwarf to carry on, "But that's all potential, Freya, if the lad gets injured like this too often, he'll get crippled for God's sake!"
To this, Freya laughed a little bit before giving her reply, "You Spirit Cultivators will never understand the body like us Ki Cultivators..." she slowly shook her head before looking at Fang Xiong who was pondering on something, "That boy's every cell holds such energy. Such potential. So much that you wouldn't believe me if I told you how much. He won't become cripple from these kinds of injuries," Freya smiled and spoke in an incredibly upbeat manner to which the Dwarf could only sigh at this.

He put his hands up in surrender before backing away and leaving the room.
After the healer had left the room, Freya came up and sat down on the side of the bed, "You okay, kid? What your sister did was a bit much, I'm sorry you had to experience that," she looked at Fang Xiong with sincere pity in her eyes but all this did was piss Fang Xiong off.
"Stop looking at me with pity. I need to heal, if you can't do anything to speed that up, get out," his harsh words and calm voice jarred Freya a little as she thought he'd be a bit more disillusioned after what happened earlier.
But seeing the small flame in his eyes and knowing he wanted to heal, she knew which angle she could come from, "You want to heal so you can train and get stronger, right?" as if to prove her point, Fang Xiong's eyes shot in her direction, "Yes, of course, you do. Now, what if I told you that I could help you train to become much stronger? If you agree to one of my conditions is all."
The small flame in Fang Xiong's slightly dull eyes, seemed to inject some brightness into them and he looked at Freya with a bit of mania in his eyes, "What condition?" one could tell from his voice that he would do next to anything to get stronger.
"Oh, it's nothing much really, I just need you to be my representative in the Tournament for 1st years," she smiled casually as she looked into Fang Xiong's eyes and saw his battlelust flare up.
"There's going to be a tournament? And all you need me to do is represent you?" he cocked his head to the side, not really seeing what she got out of this.
Seeing his confusion, Freya decided to clear it up, "I guess there is another condition. You need to join my style of Martial Arts, beat the other representatives of their respective martial arts and then I'll get put at the head of the Martial Arts Meet in a year and that will give me plenty of benefits~!" Fang Xiong just looked at her and thought about what he'd get out of it.
He'd get a martial art that he could then use to fight people and test his limits, he only had one more question.
"Will you give me the resources to get stronger?" his voice was calm but the subtle shake to it showed how important this part was to him. Freya also noticed this and realized he had been quite badly affected by what happened, just in a way different compared to a normal person.
"Yes, I'll help you train in both the Martial Art and all around Cultivation for the next 4 months until the Tournament begins," she leaned forward and ruffled Fang Xiong's hair, "Just heal up quick, kid. We don't have much time to waste!"
Fang Xiong, while extremely annoyed with the hair ruffling, was also incredibly happy with the thought of gaining resources to get stronger while also having a Tournament to look forward to. His entire body was burning with excitement. All he had to do was wait and heal.
This thought was like a bucket of cold water and he looked over at Freya who was still sitting on the bed, "How long will it take for me to heal?"
Hearing his question, she stopped for a minute and just pondered before putting her hand on his chest and sending a strand of Ki into his body. It was the same bright red it was before and it washed through his body just like last time.
But this time it was much more careful and seemed to avoid the formation pieces set up by the Dwarf healer from before.
After a lot of probing, she took her Ki out of his body and stopped touching his chest, "I can't believe it...You're an actual monster, you know that, right, kid?" Freya looked at Fang Xiong with disbelief practically flooding out of her eyes.
"Just hurry up and tell me how long it'll take for me to heal!" Fang Xiong was getting a little impatient but Freya didn't seem to mind, she was too happy finding out something while looking in Fang Xiong's body.
"You're natural healing ability along with the Healing Formation in your body...You'll be healed in about 5 days...Well, I'm at least glad that you fit my Martial Arts style..." Freya seemed both incredibly happy and incredibly surprised at the same time and it made her face look a bit weird.
Fang Xiong, on the other hand, felt a bit of pride build in his chest, pride that he could heal and get back up after such grievous injuries. The pride was small and merely a speck but it was there.
"Well anyway, I'm going to leave you to heal, I'll be back in a few days for our first lesson!" and with that, Freya was gone and Fang Xiong was on his own again.
Despite having the resources to get stronger, solving the problem of his weights not helping as much anymore. and also having a tournament to get stronger for, Fang Xiong still felt a slight emptiness in his body.
So he just looked up at the ceiling like he did before and thought about stuff.
Mainly about Xiao Mei and how one day he'd find out why she'd change. He didn't mind if he had to literally beat it out of her but he would find out and when he did, whoever took his sister away from him would be crushed into the ground like the worthless bugs they are.
What Fang Xiong didn't notice while he was doing this was that there was a white-haired girl staring through a crack in the door and was drawing something. She looked incredibly interested in Fang Xiong.
But before she could finish her drawing, she heard 2 people walking toward her, so she ran off. A little while after, Cuilong Yun and Shi Yu both tentatively walked into the infirmary where Fang Xiong currently lay.

The Mystifying Diviner
Content warning, there is cursing in the story and there will be some pretty heavy sexual innuendos in it also. I don’t really plan to write gore, but there will be fight scenes. Fair warning to readers, it is a slow start. But hopefully it is enjoyable for you to read. Follow the story of an old chef who was lucky to be selected to become a system host. Well maybe not so lucky, because gaining the system killed him. He will be given a system that might not be the best match for him. While also having to deal with a snarky system monitor who might not be that helpful most of the time. He will also use his new found powers to enjoy life in a new younger body. What you can expect from this story is bad writing, poor grammar, and slow pacing maybe. Food, cooking, comedy, slice of life, fighting, exploring, tournaments, scamming and probably face slapping. I mean who doesn’t like a good face slapping? This is my take on a cultivation story, a lot of Eastern stuff will be crammed into with a mix of Western. This story started as a goal for myself to write 60,000 words in a month for NaNoWriMo. I was able to do it even with taking days off and not writing. I plan to keep writing the story, but at a slightly slower pace. I am aiming for 2-3 chapters a week now with about 4-7k words written. This is only posted on RoyalRoad currently, and I have no plans to change that for now. Cover art is by Jack0fheart [Participant in the 2021 Royal Road Writathon Challenge for the month of November 2021]
