《Saiyan in a Cultivation World》Chapter 11 - Academy Tests

As all three of them passed the corner, they saw three lines heading toward what seemed like 3 different testing centers.
Before they could get to the lines, people asked to check their slips. Knowing they were about to get sorted into their respective lines, they each handed over their slips. They were then filed into two different lines. One for Fang Xiong as he was a Ki Cultivator and the other for Qi Cultivators like Cuilong Yun and Shi Yu.
"We'll see you after you pass your test, big guy!" Shi Yu enthusiastically yelled before more people came between them and all three of them decided to get ready for the tests.
Fang Xiong looked over at where they were with a slight grin on his face. Those two would provide brilliant sparring sessions.
Fang Xiong looked at the other people in his line and couldn't help but shake his head. Everyone was at either end of an extreme. Some people were short and lean, meaning they probably had speed, some people were tall, even more so than him, and bulky; obviously focused fully on strength. There were even some tall and thin people who walked with grace, who were obviously centered on control and flexibility.
Fang Xiong was shaking his head because you can't entirely focus on one thing if you want to become a top-class warrior. Too much speed without the necessary strength is useless and the vice versa is true as well, too much strength and too little speed will make you an easy target to hit and whittle down.
As he thought this, his pride reared it's head a little. He thought about how he was strong, fast and in control of his power, he couldn't help but think that he would one day become a top-class warrior if he continued on the path he was on.
While he was blowing smoke up his own ass, Fang Xiong didn't realize the line had moved on without him and the people behind him were getting impatient with him.
He turned around and growled a little at the people behind, a little bit of his animalistic instincts coming out before he walked up to the rest of the line.
His line was much shorter than the Qi Cultivator line and he didn't have to wait long for his turn to complete the tests. When he got to the desk in front of him, Fang Xiong saw a bald man who was about 2m tall sitting on a chair much too small for him.
The man was covered in muscles and had multiple tribal tattoos spread through his bare upper body.
"What's ya Cultivation, kid?" the man's gruff voice brought Fang Xiong out of his examination of the man.
Fang Xiong looked down at the man before answering in an unperturbed way, "4th Layer of the Houtian Realm," The man held out his hand for the slip Fang Xiong had in his hand. He complied and simply gave the slip to him.
As he gave it to him, the man grabbed Fang Xiong's wrist and inserted a bit of Ki into the boy's body. He continued to do this for a while before coming to the conclusion that the cultivation checked out and started to look at the slip.

After looking back and forth between the slip for a while, the man finally spoke, "You're pretty big for a 13-year-old...Oh well, with your age as 13 and your Cultivation, you've barely passed the first test."
Fang Xiong's eye twitched when he heard this. His three years of effort was barely enough to pass? His temple throbbed as he tried his absolute best to suppress his temper. He continually told himself that he would show them they were wrong, that his strength was higher than his Cultivation Level told.
Thanking the man, Fang Xiong took the slip back from him and walked passed him.
Behind the man, there was a woman with bright red hair standing next to a big red cushion on a machine.
"Ah, come over here, this is the second test, the punching machine!" the woman seemed incredibly lively and Fang Xiong already felt annoyed by her presence. But as she was a teacher, he had to show at least a modicum of respect.
Fang Xiong walked up to the machine and easily figured out how it worked. If it was to do with punching, Fang Xiong was surprisingly perceptive.
"Oh, and you can't use your Ki to enhance your strike. We only want to know your body strength!" Fang Xiong nodded at the lively teacher before he got himself ready.
He reared back his fist and slowly adjusted his stance, the earlier feeling of humiliation from earlier burning in his chest along with a weird feeling that spurred him on to show everyone he was strong.
Once his stance was ready and he'd grounded himself, Fang Xiong swung out with his full-strength.
*BANG!*
His fist sunk into the cushion all the way up to above his elbow. The machine kept shaking from the power of his blow, it wasn't close to breaking or anything it was just that the power from his blow was concentrated so much that the machine was having trouble dispersing it.
The lively teacher looked at Fang Xiong with an excited look, "Wow! 6000kg! That's quite a lot! Are you at the 9th layer of the Houtian Realm? Give me your slip!" before he could even pull his arm out of the cushion to give her the slip, it had somehow ended up in her hand.
She read through it with fervor but slowly, a confused expression fell on her face similar to Fang Xiong's confused face currently.
She was obviously confused about his 4th Houtian Realm cultivation, while Fang Xiong was confused about the strength of his hit. His usual max-strength is 5500kg but he got a score of 6000kg when he used his max-strength on the punching machine?
He thought about it, while he pulled his arm out of the cushion. Which morphed back to its original appearance, as if nothing happened.
After a while of thinking, Fang Xiong came to the conclusion that his body improved because of that weird feeling he had in his chest when he thought about the humiliation of being told that he barely passed earlier. Kind of like his body improved to an overwhelming need he had. The need this time was to be stronger to prove people wrong, and it could have happened before he just might not have noticed that it happened.

It didn't make much sense to him but it was the only thing he could think of given the information he currently had.
Meanwhile, the redhead teacher had come over to Fang Xiong and put her hand on his chest before flooding his body with her Ki.
Fang Xiong was surprised for a moment before he calmed down and let her do what she wanted. He just stood there and felt her Ki prod and poke at everything in his body and after a while, he closed his eyes and used his inner sight to see what he Ki was doing.
He saw her Ki, a tidal wave of bright red energy. It was just washing through his muscles and bones, even his organs, looking for something.
This carried on for a while before the woman stopped. She looked up at Fang Xiong with a suspicious face, "Hmm, you have a weird body, you know that, right? It seems like you have inborn divine strength but it's not just your strength that's insane, your endurance, durability, and vitality are all incredibly high...Interesting...You've passed the test, you can go to the final test."
She handed him his slip back, took her hand off of his chest and let him go. Fang Xiong nodded and just walked off to the area behind her.
He looked around and found that this testing ground seemed to be held on a massive field. He looked to his right and saw a Qi Cultivators Punching Test and then to his Left to see some kind of mat with a girl on it. She had multiple stones floating around his body in a peculiar fashion.
Fang Xiong guess that was the Spirit Cultivator's test. What it was testing Fang Xiong didn't know, neither did he care so he simply carried on walking to the last test.
The last test seemed to be held in a tent, as there was nothing else in front of him, so he entered it.
As soon as he entered it, a few flashes of light seemed to scan through his body before a soft voice spoke up, "Put your hand on the stone in front of you," Fang Xiong looked around for the voice but all he could see was a floating stone in front of him.
Seeing as he couldn't see the person testing him, he put his hand on the stone.
As soon as his hand was on the stone, he felt a prick of pain on his hand and grunted in annoyance. The blood that undoubtedly came out of it seemed to be absorbed by the rock before some lights started flashing inside the stone and outside the stone before they were projected above the stone in a picture.
The picture was one of a giant man with red eyes, the man seemed to have a tail and his teeth were all sharpened to deadly points. His red eyes looked full of rage and bloodlust and there was not one single bit of reason in them. His entire body radiated power as if demanding respect and awe from all those around it, like some kind of God of War.
The image flickered before it showed the same giant man but this time he looked much calmer. His eyes were still red and they were still full of anger and bloodthirst but it was under a tight leash of control. The giant man still exuded power but it was much more subdued.
But don't let that fool you, it was like a dormant volcano; calm now but at any moment it could erupt with furious anger and power.
To add to the controlled feeling the man gave off his teeth were much more human-looking with only the Canines sharp and long. Weirdly enough there wasn't a tail on this giant man but he didn't seem less powerful because of it.
As Fang Xiong was looking at the picture, it started flicking back and forth between the two of them before finally landing on a different picture; a mix of both. More powerful than either but much more hard to gain.
Fang Xiong looked at the pictures with a burning feeling slowly rising in his stomach, a need to become what was shown in the picture. Both sides of his mind screamed for this as well.
His cells started shaking, feeling empowered by a mysterious power coming from within themselves.
But suddenly, as he felt he was gaining something, the picture disappeared and the soft voice spoke again, "Interesting...You have two natures and they both fight...which one will take control or can you balance them both? Haha!" the voice laughed for a while before continuing, "You're an interesting child, you have passed my test...I'll eagerly await your final state~"
With that last line said, Fang Xiong found himself outside of the tent in a finishing area of the training grounds.
"What...?" Fang Xiong couldn't wrap his head around what just happened and it made him slightly mad. He couldn't even stop that from teleporting him! Fang Xiong resolved himself for the first time to enter the nearest library and find a way to counter whatever just happened.
As if to take him away from his internal anger, he heard a voice shout over to him, "Hey, Fang Xiong!" Fang Xiong looked over to where he heard his name being called and saw the signature green hair of Cuilong Yun.
A slight grin spreading on his face, he walked over to talk to Cuilong Yun.
