《Saiyan in a Cultivation World》Chapter 2 - Ki Cultivation

Fang Xiong looked at Brother Long, the need for power practically glowing off of his face.
"I wish to learn this method despite the dangers," Fang Xiong's voice was firm as he looked between Brother Long and his father. Fang Shen went to deter his son but Brother Long put his hand up to show he needn't try.
Fang Shen backed away and sat in his study chair, thinking. Brother Long brought Fang Xiong into the study and told him to sit in one of the seats next to him. Then they had a chat while Fang Xiong's father thought about what to do.
During this chat, Brother Long asked Fang Shen if he could check Fang Xiong's physique out. Fang Shen reluctantly agreed to it but said it had to be a simple check over and not the complete ones he did in the army.
Fang Xiong, confused, was made to stand up and while Brother Long placed his hands on his chest and inserted a mysterious energy into him.
"What is this energy? Is it Qi?" never having progressed into Qi Cultivation, Fang Xiong had no idea what Qi itself felt like, so he could only guess this intangible energy was Qi. Brother Long quietly chuckled before answering the boy's question.
"Well, not quite. This is Ki, from the Body Cultivation System," Fang Xiong's eyes widened in wonder as he looked down at Brother Long's hands which were supplying the energy. Following the energy from the hands, Fang Xiong could feel it spreading throughout his entire body, from the top of his head to the tip of his toes.
The energy felt calm, like the waves of the sea but Fang Xiong could feel it's destructive potential almost instinctively. Nonetheless, no damage was done to his body as the calm energy sought out even the deepest nooks and crannies of his body.
Getting used to feeling the energy and how it was manipulated, Fang Xiong took his eyes away from his own body and looked up to examine Brother Long some more.
His hair was much more like Fang Xiong's; Wild and Messy. It was brown in color and looked like it hadn't seen a comb in forever as if lay around Brother Long's head and shoulders like a disorganized bird's nest.
Fang Xiong needed to stifle his laughter as he'd never seen someone with messier hair than himself before, both his father and sister having very straight hair.
He shook off his urge to laugh and looked at the man's face. It was handsome but in a roguish kind of way and he had red eyes which proved to Fang Xiong that he was their uncle or more specifically Xiao Mei's mother's brother.
Fang Xiong's staring was interrupted as Brother Long's eyes widened to an almost comical degree.
"Brother-in-law, he really must be from the Heavens like you said!" he exclaimed loudly before laughing and carrying on, "Even before undergoing any kind of cultivation his entire body is much stronger than a normal person! Not just his muscles either, his bones, organs and bodily systems are all leagues ahead of a normal person!"

Fang Xiong could've sworn he saw his father have a look of pride for a second before going back to his pondering and this inspired pride in Fang Xiong. If his father was proud of him, shouldn't he be proud as well?
As if seeing the pride building up in him, Brother Long spoke again, "But up against anyone above the 1st layer of the Houtian Realm, he'd get crushed."
To this, Fang Xiong showed an annoyed expression, nearly snarling at the man in front of him. Brother Long chuckled at this before taking his hands off of Fang Xiong's chest. The energy still in Fang Xiong's body seemed to drift outward and out of his body.
Apart from a small part which spread throughout his body and lay dormant within each and every cell. Nobody noticed this, however, not even Fang Xiong.
"Well, I've got to say, brother-in-law I'd love to have him as my disciple, I don't see myself finding anyone better than him," Brother Long sincerely looked at his brother-in-law and the two of them stared into each other's eyes for a moment before Fang Shen smiled.
"Fwww...You've got me. If he wishes to do it, you can teach him but I have a few conditions, okay?" Fang Shen looked at both Fang Xiong and Brother Long with an interrogating look on his face.
Both Fang Xiong and Brother Long nodded like excited children and Fang Shen let out another sigh before continuing while looking at Brother Long, "You will train him on the premises and if you must take him off the premises to train I will come with you. Got it?" Brother Long nodded eagerly, not even seeing that as a condition that needed to be stated.
Fang Shen looked over to his son, "The only condition I have for you is that you don't quit this. No matter how hard it gets or how much it hurts, you will continue to do this training. Am I clear?" his face was as strict as his voice as he looked at his son but underneath the stern face, there was worry.
Worry that his son would give up all together after experiencing the training that goes along with Ki Cultivation and would waste away, hating his sister for wanting to protect him and hating himself for his own weakness.
But apparently, this worry was unneeded.
Fang Xiong smiled and nodded his head with an almost savage excitement and Fang Shen was reminded of when he first saw his son's primal eyes. Fatherly affection filled Fang Shen's heart and he felt slightly guilty for holding his son back all this time but shook the guilt off and decided he'd make up for it from now on by fully supporting his son's Ki Cultivation and giving him what he needs to succeed.
"Are there any more conditions, brother-in-law? Because if not, I want to get to starting the basics with Xiong'er," Brother Long seemed like a hyperactive child and could barely control himself as he thought about taking Fang Xiong as his disciple.

Fang Shen resigned himself to what he'd unleashed and let out a jovial smile, "Sure, go ahead," he looked at Fang Xiong, "Now, Xiong'er, listen to your uncle and try your best at this, okay?"
Fang Xiong nodded, just as excited as his uncle about the training.
After saying goodbye, both Fang Xiong and his uncle walked out of his father's study room and started walking to the courtyard Fang Xiong was in earlier. They were in complete silence along the way, whenever Fang Xiong tried to ask a question his uncle would tell him to wait until they reached the courtyard.
Finally, they reached the courtyard and both of them sat next to the rocks in the middle of the yard.
Fang Xiong's uncle finally started speaking after a while of pondering, "Okay, so from now on call me Master Long or Master, well, you can call me Uncle if you really want to as well...But anyway! On to the actual teaching stuff..." Fang Xiong smiled as he felt that his Uncle was weirdly nervous about this whole thing.
Moving on from his nervous behavior, Master Long started to speak again, "Ki Cultivation. The cultivation of the body and the energy that it produces. It's very simple to practice, doesn't require talent like Qi Cultivation, only hard work and it gives a person more strength in the layers than Qi Cultivation. So why is it barely used?"
This question made Fang Xiong think for a while but he finally came up with an answer, "Earlier father said it's dangerous so most people probably don't want to risk getting hurt for power when they could give Qi Cultivation a go, right? And like regular exercise of the body, it might take a long time to get anything done, maybe? I don't know anything other than the dangerous part..." hearing his nephew's answer, Master Long raised his eyebrow slightly.
"Well done, those are the two big reasons why people stay away from Ki Cultivation. That and the fact you need special foods and serums to really make haste in Ki Cultivation, both of which are quite expensive to most people," he paused for a moment before smirking, "Lucky for you, your family is quite rich and so am I, you loving uncle/master!"
Fang Xiong had a deadpan expression as he looked at his uncle. The staring continued until his Master awkwardly carried on, "Umm, anyway, other than that, Ki Cultivation works pretty much the same way as Qi Cultivation. You use a special breathing technique to gather the energy and actually make your practice mean something and you have the same realms of cultivation e.g Houtian and Xiantian etc," he looked at Fang Xiong only to see that he was completely enthralled in the information about becoming stronger.
His Uncle smiled and nodded in a satisfied manner, thinking about how this is how his disciple should be.
"You've exercised before, haven't you, Xiong'er?" hearing his Master's question, Fang Xiong nodded his head, "Good, having a good foundation for a body is the key to starting off Ki Cultivation on a good foot."
Knowing this, Fang Xiong was glad he had a constant urge to exercise his body, it was paying dividends now.
"Okay, first off, we need to teach you a breathing technique which suits you," he paused before smiling, "I picked you not because of your overall potential in Ki Cultivation but also because of your affinity with my own breathing technique."
Fang Xiong tilted his head to the side, looking at his Master in confusion.
"Let me explain," he took a long breath, knowing he was about to speak a lot, "Each and every breathing technique was made by a specific person long ago, tailored for themselves and to benefit them the most. So, the more you have in common with the original creator of the technique, the more affinity you'll have with their technique. This obstacle can be overcome by a few things, such as the overall power of the technique. For example, if the technique is powerful enough, someone who uses it, no matter their affinity, will become powerful," he paused for a second before joyfully adding, "Luckily for the both of us, my technique is not just well-fitted to me but it's also incredibly powerful," the pride he spoke with seemed to resonate with Fang Xiong.
"Master, please teach me the technique!" Fang Xiong could barely contain himself by this point, he wanted to get started on Cultivation as soon as possible to make up for lost time.
Seeing his disciples excitement, Master Long nodded his head and smiled, "Okay, okay, calm down, let me get it out," he brought his hand to the air and grabbed at it, like Fang Xiong's sister did earlier.
Out of nowhere, an old and black book appeared in his hand and he flicked through it for a while before resting on one page near the start and passing it over to Fang Xiong who took it and treated it with care and respect you wouldn't expect from a currently hyperactive 10-year-old.
Fang Xiong put his thumb as a bookmark on the page and quickly took a look at the front of the book for its name.
Heavenly Beast Method
Was all it said in simple golden yellow writing but Fang Xiong felt something inside himself stir as he looked at it.
He could really tell his affinity was high for this technique like his Uncle/Master said.

8 113Khaldir's Observer
Markus Kuberski, a 21-year-old mechanical engineering student at the Vienna University of Technology and a weeb, is bored by life. He has no girlfriend he cannot meet up with his friends because there is another Covid-lockdown and getting a side-job is also unsuccessful. Therefore, he has started to write a web novel. “If I cannot be the main character with magical powers and a harem full of cute girls in real life then I will create my own universe and be its protagonist.” Although that has been his first thought, he neither dare to use himself as the main character’s template nor write a harem story. “I am not that desperate!” he muses to himself. Little does he know that he will get more than he asked for when a mighty existence becomes interested in his story and makes it a reality. Hello, this is my first attempt at creating something like a novel. English is also not my native language, so expect some grammar and punctuation issues. I am using Grammarly to help myself in this regard, but in some areas, the free app cannot correct everything. There is currently no fixed schedule, although I believe that two chapters per week should be reasonable. Depending on how much time I have, I can write more.

8 134So What If I'm Trash? Who Needs Cultivation?!
Qing Shan Long. They say he isn't human. An escaped experiment from some government facility, a reincarnation of a saint, a freakish superhuman. Whatever he was one thing was clear. Be it Music, Martial Arts, Science, whatever he does he excels. He was a whimsical man. A great man. A man who craving for knowledge and excitement knows no bounds, whose collection of books and personal library would even make Alexander the Great green with envy. He donated to all manners of charities and funded many projects for helping the poor and disabled. A self made man who single handedly founded one of the largest corporations in the world, Wen Qu Technologies, whose influences reach from vast fields of expertise. From objects of war such as the newest aircrafts, droids, and body armor; to life saving medicine and vaccines; to even the mundane such as video games and the fast food industry. A legendary example of determination and hard work. He was in his car being driven to a business meeting to disclose a deal that would help ensure the country could have access to clean energy and help reduce the pollution that has been plaguing his homeland for the past millenia when he was assassinated and woke up in a strange new world. How will Qing Shan deal with his new environment where the strong suppresses the weak? From the top of the world he suddenly finds himself free falling to rock bottom. Unable to cultivate, a weak body, and all but disowned by his family. (For those who read comics and watch cartoons, imagine him as being Tony Stark, Richard Reeds, Jimmy Neutron, etc level of 'Genius'. ) My own spin on some familar tropes. Another reincarnation into another world story. The MC will take over the body of someone with a trash body that can't cultivate and will be hated and neglected by his family. Pretty typical so far right? Except there won't be some amazing miracle to heal our MC, there isn't some magical grandpa to teach him some OP thing which only his trash body can use, there isn't a hidden op bloodline, and he is not from a super amazing assassin clan or genius doctor. He isn't the chosen one, he's just a guy trying his best to make something with a crap situation. First attempt at a wuxia type story! I like playing with common tropes, maybe adding a twist, to playing it straight as a classic. I have absolutely no idea where this is going to take me but please do give your input and I'll do my best so that everyone has a say in where our journey will go. I'll admit the only knowledge I have of chinese history and ancient society is from reading light novels translated to english and some old dramas, so if I make some social passe just take it as because this is another world, not exactly an AU where magic and stuff actually exist. I'm also not actually Chinese and will basically using google to help me with names and other such, if I make a mistake please let me know! (Even if you don't like the story or couldn't bare to get past chapter 1 please leave a comment so I can find out where to improve, thank you!)
