《The Undead Dungeon》Chapter 14 - Renovation

"Hey, Mike what is that?" I said curiously.
That is obviously a mole.
"I know that's a mole, what is it doing in my core room?"
I don't know, he's looking for food?
"How did it even get in here?"
Probably through that small hole that he dug.
"Can anyone or anything just dig holes to get to my dungeon core?"
Yes, how do you think Butch found those ores and minerals? Didn't he dig walls in your forest room?
"I didn't think too much about it. Magic or something? That means anyone with shovels can just start digging left and right until they reach my core room instead of going through my room. That sounds really bad, is there any way to stop this?"
There are a few ways to prevent this, but you only have enough mana for one of them. It's called regeneration like the name suggest it allows your dungeon to regenerate its rooms, walls, floor, etc. It cost 50 mana since you have 60 mana you can afford it.
"50 MANA, that's half my max mana capacity, shit that's expensive. Wait it regenerate everything so that means my undead also can't dig tunnels?"
Yes.
Hmmm, so the pro is that people can't just dig tunnels to reach my core room and con is that it's expensive and my undead will also be unable to dig tunnels for me. Free tunnels or my life and safety, since I like to live I'm going to buy the regeneration.
Just like that 50 mana flew away. While I was looking at my mana, the undead came back with their spoils. They came back with a chest and the chopped up body parts of the guardian. The chest is full of what seems to be a magician starter kit. An oak staff, a robe, a book with a tree as the cover, a book with a green cover, and a satchel filled with red and blue vials. I'm gonna guess those vials are filled with health and mana potions.

So the tree monster is called a Treant. Now that I have enough mana I can finally renovate this place. All week I've been trying to change the layout and add more room, but I always got distracted. I've only been creating undead to protect the dungeon and have always been short on mana when trying to create more room. I at least need to look on the bright side, I have 2 squads defending my dungeon one consist of a zombie warrior, archer, scout, and a death hound while the other squad consists of a skeleton warrior, archer, scout, and a death hound.
The rooms feel crowded now especially the forest since it has the most undead population. The death hounds live there, Lucia and her two new spirit friends, and also the skeleton squad is stationed there. I really need to expand it and add a new neighbor for them. Before I get tempted to make new undead I quickly used 30 Mana to expand the forest room, now it's twice the size and I also used 10 Mana to add a corrupted treant inside since it blends perfectly with the trees. I also decided to create a new room. I am going to make a sacrificial altar in the new room, because what kind undead dungeon would I be if I don't have a creepy sacrificial altar?

I made stone stairs that lead up to the altar, on the side of the altar I carved various pictures of the undead skeleton, zombies, and spirits decorated the altar. I also carved a stone skeleton holding a bowl, on the altar, there is a dagger which can be used to sacrifice a virgin or something. With all of the creepy decoration finished I created the room and a corridor that connect it with the rest of the dungeon. The moment I finished creating the sacrifice room a blue screen popped up in front of me.
Room of Sacrifice
This room provides an altar where people can sacrifice what they have to get what they need. The altar can be used to bring back loved ones from the dead, summon a demon, give praised to Dark Gods all of this can be done by sacrificing the lives of other people. Special monsters souls can be stored and be brought back with mana using the sacrificial altar.
People can bring back someone from the dead if they sacrifice enough people, equal to twice the power of the person being brought back from the dead, upon the altar. (Target body must be whole)
Summon a demon after sacrificing 100 virgins. (Small Chance)
Revive special undead using double the mana of the undead cost.
Available Undead
Frank - Commander Zombie (Alive)
Butch - Bomber Zombie (Alive)
Helen - Zombie (Alive)
Lucia - Banshee (Alive)
That's interesting I can bring back my undead, so are conditions in bringing them back other than mana? Is having a name the only condition to make them special zombies or do they need to complete special tasks that can prove them to be special undead? Should I make a sign that will promote killing people on the altar so that I can get more mana? I shouldn't mention the summoning a demon to the adventurer since I don't want to deal with a demon in my dungeon. I decided to make a zombie statue that holds a sign that says the condition in bringing back the dead. That should promote killing in my dungeon.
The last thing I needed to do is rearrange the room placement because a graveyard inside a cave is really suspicious. I change it to the ore room as the first room the things visitors can see. After that is the infection forest so it can give the illusion of this being an underground forest if there is even such a thing. Then I put the sacrifice room next so at least even if they don't believe it, they can still be tempted to try it. The last defense is my graveyard room since that is where the zombie's squad and my special zombies residing so anyone that comes in there will be slaughtered. With that, the new floor layout is done. Doing all of this cost me a total of 95 Mana.

Serve, or… I refused to be a mindless slave. My life was taken from me once. Never again. I'm Always Talking to Myself
My name is Zach. I’m a typical bland featureless protagonist type. The kind of guy who has purposefully few defining characteristics so that people can project whatever they want on me. Like Luke from Star Wars or what’s her name from Twilight. Most main characters are like me. Kind of flavorless blank slates because we all secretly doubt that we’re Harrison Ford, but pretty much anyone could be Mitt Romney. Yep. Yes indeed, I do spend basically my entire life running an internal dialog to no one. Usually I’m imagining that there are people listening. Like maybe philosophers from Ancient Greece, or researchers from another planet who act suspiciously like the characters from that Instagram comic with the aliens. Stupid Instagram comedians stealing my internal monologue and turning into a wildly successful enterprise which I would imagine has a vibrant merch dropshipping arm and hundreds of thousands of daily dopamine hits for loyal followers. I basically spend all of my time explaining random things to imaginary people (and aliens, and animals, and household items which have inexplicably gained sentience and frankly have some concerns about this whole existence thing). Honestly, it’s both highly entertaining to me, in that it makes me think about why we humans do all of the bizarre things that we do, but also horrifically exhausting and kind of makes you feel like you’re either, worst cast, losing your grip on reality, or best case, becoming Abed from Community. Anyway, I’m sure that I have some distinguishing characteristics, but, in the interest of hypnotic suggestion I’m choosing to omit them until I’m pretty sure that you have subconsciously come to identify with me, or until I feel like it. (By the way, in case I forgot to mention it, a higher power called Aww Thor or something told me to say that this is a slice-of-life comedy adventure and that it's set in a fantasy world with isekai and LitRPG elements.)
