《Mythical Conquest》Military Reshuffle

Royal Palace.
It's now been a little over a month since Miko became king.
He was in the meeting room sitting around the table with a stack of papers in front of him.
“………..”
He looked at the stack of papers like it was his mortal enemy.
After staring at it for a while-
“Fuck this!”
He stood up and left the room.
*Bam!*
He was suddenly kicked back into the room and slammed into the table.
“Don't run away from your responsiblities.”
The one who said that was Momo, who entered the room.
“Fine! Give me a verbal report!”
“Yes.”
A servant appeared from the shadows.
“My lord, the reconstruction of the Lower Class District is going smoothly and should be finished in a month at most.”
“I see. That's a fantasy world for you, things get done fast.”
Said Miko.
“Next.”
“The expansion of the city has ran into monetary problems. We need another 500,000 gold.”
“Take it from my account. What about the expansion of the farms?”
“That is going smoothly. There was a bit of a problem with the farmers not willing to abandon their homes, but it has already been taken of.”
“I see.”
Miko then put on a pondering face for a while.
“Focus on these three for now. It's not good to try and do everything at once. But these three are very important.”
“Yes, my lord.”
“Give me an update on the underworld and the RUA.”
“Yes. There were some new drugs dealers selling-”
“Eliminate them.”
Miko said immediately.
“I thought I made this clear. No drugs trafficking. No rapists. No Human trafficking. I'll overlook any other crimes, but any found guilty of committing these crimes are to be killed immediately.”
“Yes. I'll put out a bounty on these drugs dealers at RUA and have them disposed of.”
“If there's a chance that they'll escape, eliminate them yourself.”
“As you wish.”
The servant bowed and disappeared into the shadows again.
“You're still busy I see.”
Said Momo. She then looked around for a bit.
“Where's her holiness?”
“She’s asleep in her room. She said that the piles of paper makes her sleepy.”
“I see.”
Momo walked up and picked up a paper and looked at it.
“It's good that you're committed to your work, minus the fact that you tried to run away just now, but it's not good for you to neglect your training.”
She put down the paper back on the pile.
“You can't become like Dario who was stuck at [A Class] for almost 10 years because he was too busy to train.”
“Don't worry, I won't. I planned on resuming my training with you in the next couple days. I just need to take care of another important matter.”
“Which is?”
“Rebuilding the military system.”
Miko leaned on the table.
“The current military system is just horrible. My predecessors were too focus on strengthening the Dragna clan and not the kingdom itself. They had the mentality that the kingdom wouldn't fall as long as the clan survived.”

Miko frowned.
“They completely neglected developing the people, and that's what caused the low quality of soldiers. They viewed the people as another entity, when they should've view them as an extension of themselves.”
“What do you plan to do?”
“First, I need to pick new and capable leaders to lead the army down the right path. Even if that path will be soaked in blood. I need Generals.”
“Well that shouldn't be too hard. Just promote the people who fought with you in the Throne Wars to Generals.”
“I was already going to do that. But I need more.”
“More than six?”
Miko nodded.
“My end goal is to rise the kingdom's military strength to rival the Triads.”
Momo was shocked to hear that.
“Rival the Triad?”
“That's right. If I can accomplish that in a short amount of time, then becoming an empire won't be that hard.”
Momo could tell that Miko was seriously trying to promote the king to an empire.
She couldn't help but to admire him.
“My parents and the others are great choices if you think about the future, but I also need to look at the present.”
“You mean you need people who are already strong, and have experience in have a high rank position in the military?”
Miko nodded.
“Well, do you have any ideas who you can choose?”
Momo asked.
“Well, one.”
“Who?”
“You.”
“Me? That can't work.”
“I don't intend for you to be a full fledged General who commands thousands of soldiers and head into battle.”
“Then what do you intend to do?”
Miko smiled.
“Im going to make you an honorary general.”
“What?”
Momo was confused because she never heard of such a title.
“It's simple. You're technically a general but you don't have any obligation other than protecting the kingdom when it's in danger.”
“I see. If that's all it is, then I'll do it.”
“That's good to hear. I'm thinking of asking Aeon too. What do you think?”
“Ah, Aeon isn't here.”
“He isn't here. Where is he?”
“I don't know. He just got up and disappeared one morning.”
Momo said with a shrug.
“But don't worry it's something he does all the time. He’ll be back in a year or two at most. You can ask him then.”
“….I see. Then I'll do that.”
Miko was curious as for what reason would Aeon leave the kingdom at this time.
Not only that, but it looks like he leaves the kingdom on a regular basis for years at a time.
If it was someone else, Miko wouldn't have cared that much.
But it was Aeon.
This was a man who was called the Gremlin. Considering that a gremlin was something that causes an unexplainable or unexpected incident, it was the perfect name for a mischievous person like Aeon.
There's no telling what he's doing outside everyone's sights.
‘I'll keep a lookout for him just in case.’
Miko thought to himself.
He then signaled for a servant to appear before him.

“Contact everyone who participated in the Throne Wars with me. Tell them I wanted to talk to them about something very important.”
“As you wish.”
The servant quickly disappeared to carry out their order.
“Should I stay as well?”
“Of course. You're a General as well, so this concerns you.”
Momo nodded and took a seat around the white marble table.
‘Tia.’
(……..)
‘Woman, I know you can hear me!’
(What? I'm trying to sleep here.)
‘I need you to do something for me.’
(What?)
‘I want to contact the other three branches of the clan.’
(Oh? You want to invite them back?)
‘That's right. In order to make an everlasting empire, the full power of the Dragna clan is needed. We can't afford to be shattered all over the globe.’
(Those are some wise words.)
‘Thank you. Now tell me how to contact them.’
(You don't need to.)
‘Why?’
(That's because they should already know that I've return. This alone is enough to stimulate their return.)
‘Makes sense. Do you when they'll return?’
(Nope. But they'll return at their own pace. The best thing you can do is to wait, and prepare to welcome them.)
Miko put on a pondering expression for a while before answering.
‘Okay. I'll do as you say and wait.’
(Really? You actually listened to me.)
He could sense her smiling.
(You're cute when you're being obedient.)
‘Shut up.’
After around a hour, everyone Miko called finally arrived.
They all sat around the marble table together.
Ace and Sora who were literally drowning in women were all smiles.
Leon had a devilish smile on his face and looked quite relax with his hand on Sasha's thigh.
Sasha had a hint of blush on her face, but didn't move his hand.
As for Luka and Hina, the two’s eyes were locked on Miko, with a smile on their faces.
“…..The hell?”
Momo noticed the atmosphere and realized that everyone here were basking in carnal desires.
Only she was the odd one out.
As the oldest one here, she started to reevaluate her life.
Miko acted like he oblivious of the atmosphere and kept a serious face.
“I would like to announce my changes to the military system, which involves all of you.”
When Miko started speaking everyone took on a serious demeanor.
“So what, you're going to make us all Generals or something?”
Said Leon, who moved his hand from Sasha's thigh and used it to rest his head.
“That's right. But it will be more than that.”
Miko took out a badge and threw it at Leon, who easily caught it.
He looked at it and saw that it was a shield shaped badge.
“I'm appointing you as the new leader of the Royal Corps.”
“You want me to be responsible for the kingdom's defense? Me? Who's currently like this?”
He smiled mischievously.
“Aren't you afraid that I'll abuse my power and have some fun?”
Miko shook his head.
“If you're saying that you can't be trusted because you’re a demon, then the same can be same for me.”
Miko returned a mischievous smile.
“I'm closer to the original demons than you are. So you can say I'm more demonic. I mean, have you not been playing attention to what I've been doing?”
“I was busy.”
Leon said while glancing at Sasha.
“Oh? Busy, huh?”
Miko smiled at him for a bit before saying-
“Then let's do this. If you abuse your power or neglect your duties, I’ll make it so that you can never be ‘busy’ again.”
Miko's smile than turned into an evil smirk.
“Do you understand what I'm saying, father?”
“Hahahahahaha!”
Leon suddenly burst out laughing.
“Okay, okay. I hear you. I'll do my work properly. I don't want to turn into an enuich u after all.”
“It's great that you understand.”
“……”
Seeing her son threaten to neuter her husband in front of her, Sasha could only sigh.
Miko then turn his attention to Luka.
“Luka you’ll also have a special duty as a general.”
“What is it?”
“I want you to create and manage a covert organization that only moves for the king’s sake. Since you created Fate, I'm sure you can do it. When your friends return you can add them to this organization as well.”
Miko smiled at her.
“Will you do it?”
“If that's what you want then I will. I kinda miss moving in the shadows anyway.”
She then put on a pondering expression for a bit.
“I'll call this new organization the Black Hornet. It sounds cool.”
“It does. Then please choose your members from the files of candidates that a servant will deliver to you later.”
She nodded.
“Ace and Sora will help Leon train the new recruits for the guards. They will also be responsible for keeping an eye on the remaining nobles. If they are found guilty of breaking any crime, then you're free to punish them as you feel fit.”
Said Miko.
“Not a bad job. We won't let you down.”
They answered.
He then look at Hina.
“Hina will be my personal assistant. She'll help come up with plans to improve the kingdom, as well as help me appoint new noble families.”
Hina smiled when she heard that.
“I'll do my best.”
Miko showed her a nodded of approval.
“Mother will be my advisor. You can tell me if you think I'm doing something wrong and guide me down the right path, even though I might not follow it.”
“Then what's the point?”
“Just act like you always do, Mother. That alone will bring me at ease.”
Miko said with a smile.
“You didn't have to tell me that. Even if your king you’re my son first.”
She also smiled.
Miko then nodded and leaned back in his chair.
“Now then, with that. Welcome, my Generals. Let's drink.”

Yin-Yang
Mages in North America seem to have it all – typically from well-off families, and able to manipulate their environment in ways most of the world would never believe. They don’t even have to bother with the mundane details of life like housework, thanks to their sensitives, who also make a useful source for extra magical energy. After all, sensitives have no use for it themselves, and if mages weren’t meant to make use of it, then the sensitives would obviously have some way to prevent that. That a mage can transform a sensitive physically, with no restrictions beyond overall mass and basic biological viability, whereas magic tends not to work directly on any other living thing, is only further proof. And look at the way they live on their own, barely a step above animals. It’s better for them to belong to a mage. Sensitives in North America live on the edge of society and survival – typically so paranoid they avoid hospitals and anything else that could lead to being tracked, many of them with little or no education and no legal identity or existence. Mages exist, and mages want sensitives for some reason, but no one ever comes back to explain what that reason is. Waiting every day for the hunters to notice them doesn’t lead to much motivation or hope for the future. And once they’re captured, they’re the property of someone with a terrifying amount of power over them. Anything is better than capture. Mages are born to be the masters, and sensitives are born victims. Or are they? Jax’s life is turned upside-down when he’s caught by the hunters and sold to a mage. Andreas is still mourning for his previous sensitive, though, unconsciously creating a difficult standard for Jax to live up to, all the more so while still struggling to come to terms with this new reality as Andreas’ sensitive. A runaway sensitive isn’t what Van expects at the mental health centre. Is this a hunter trap, set for him and the rest of the Donovan family by the hunters? The hunters would, after all, love to see them cross the line openly and finally do something they can be charged with. Either way, Miranda’s genuinely in trouble, and he can’t just abandon her to it. Snatching a sensitive out from under the hunters and hiding her is odd behaviour for a mage – but then, Catherine is an odd mage, living in disgrace in the old servants’ quarters of her grandmother’s house, responsible for cooking and housework. Lila owes Catherine her freedom; is there a way to help Catherine achieve her own, and at what price? Tension is building between traditionally-minded mages and those advocating change, and something has to break. *** Yin-Yang includes a small amount of profanity and no graphic sex or on-screen physical violence. However, sex and gender roles and relationships within the mage/sensitive subculture are non-traditional in mainstream North American terms. The key criterion in a primary relationship is not relative sex or gender, but the pairing of mage and sensitive; given the transformation of sensitives by their mages, physical sex is non-absolute for a sensitive, and gender identity can vary as in anyone else. *** *** The way mages treat sensitives is extremely varied and, in some cases is outright abusive. The struggle against that is pretty much the point of the book. It is NOT grimdark or misery-porn! However, if you will be triggered by this, please, don't read Yin-Yang! *** Complete stand-alone novel, 153K words! Also available on Scribble Hub and as a free ebook.
