《Mythical Conquest》Dance Of Death

(See what happens when you follow a stranger.)
‘Ah, shut it. I know what I'm doing.’
(And what exactly are you doing?)
‘Gathering fire power. My fight with Leon showed me that taking throne will be hard if it's by myself, and even if I could it will probably take a lot of unnecessary effort, which I hate. So I'll need help. Here's a girl with unique abilities and obviously abnormal intellect for her age. I would be an idiot to let her go.’
(Then why not go to my clan?)
‘And have them treat me like a tool for power? No, thanks. I'll only go to them as a last resort.’
(Well, the chances of you being used because you're my Proxy are high.)
‘If you understand then let me do what I want.’
Miko then turned his full attention back to the men.
The amount was about 20. Twenty rough-looking men surrounded Hina and Miko.
They glared at the children while taking out weapons like knives and machetes.
But, the men didn't immediately rushed to attack them.
‘They're vigilant? They shouldn't know me, so they must be cautious of Hina.’
Miko looked at Hina as he thought this.
Even with the men surrounding her, she didn't look tense at all. It was the men who were wearing nervous expressions.
They feared her.
Grown men were clearly afraid of a 10-year-old girl.
Miko found this scene interesting.
“You guys really don't learn do you?”
Hina spoke with a mocking tone.
“S-Shut up! We won't stop until you pay your debts!”
“Oh, is this classic scene where the loan sharks harasses an innocent girl, only to get beaten down by a passing hero? If so, Mikky would you be my hero?”
Hearing Hina's teasing tone, made Miko smiled sadistically.
“ I'll have to refuse, since I'm more of a villain than a hero.”
Miko suddenly jumped and kicked one of the men in the head.
Seeing that, the rest of the men became alert of him.
“So, I'll act like a villain and mercilessly crush those who annoy me under my feet. Ah, I'm short on money too. So, I'll be robbing you as well.”
“Hahahaha. How fiendish of you.”
Hina laughed and looked at the men with a mocking glare.
“Y-You brats! Kill the-!”
Before the man could finish speaking, he was kneed in the face by Miko.
“Shut it already.”
He then grabbed the man by the collar, and slammed into the ground with a judo flip.

He then mercilessly stomp him in the chest.
“Less talking and more fighting. That way we'll be done in a few minutes.”
“Brat!”
3 of the men rushed towards him while shouting.
They swung their weapons aiming at Miko's vitals.
He dodged them and then released his claws.
Miko took a step in, and slashed the men's faces with them.
“Argh!”
They took a step back and held their faces.
Miko didn't missed that chance. He covered his fist with flames and thrust it forward.
A pillar of fire then instantly burn the men into crisps.
(Congratulations! You've commit your first murder in this world! I expect more from you in the future!)
Tiamat voice resounding in his mind, reminding him of when he leveled up in a game.
“These guys are pretty weak compared to Leon. Well, he is considered a great talent. So it's pretty much expected.”
Miko glanced around him and saw that most of the men were aiming for Hina.
“Are those needles?”
She dodged the men attacks and threw spike-sized needles at them.
(Oh, impressive. Every needle she throws strikes a vital point. I don't know if it's because of her special eyes, but she has incredible accuracy.)
‘See. Interesting, right?’
Miko watched as Hina moved around the men, while lodging the needles in their vital points.
It was like she was dancing. It was a beautiful and mesmerizing dance.
But it was a dance that was accompanied by blood and loss of life.
It was a dance of death.
It wasn't long before Hina had killed her 10th person. Even so, her smile never left her face.
Miko thought that it was a beautiful but somewhat sad smile, and was almost captivated by it for a short while.
“Die!”
Few of the men tried to attack the distracted(?) Miko, but he used [Ignition Step] to launch himself over them.
“A word of advice. When trying to sneak attack someone don't shout. You'll just look stupid when you get killed.”
While still suspended in the air, Miko created a fireball twice the size of himself.
“Reflect on your mistake in hell.”
He threw the fireball and it mercilessly devoured the men, turning them into burnt corpses in seconds.
“Oh, you're done too.”
By the time he landed, Hina had already gotten rid of the men and was walking over to him.
“As I thought, you're pretty strong, Mikky. But is this okay? You most likely damaged all the money they had. I don't think they have any value anymore."

“Ah. I forgot.”
Miko then regretted not slashing the men's throats instead of burning them alive. But at least he got to see how strong Hina was.
“Well, the past is the past.”
“Hey, I know it's too late to ask after all this. But who were these guys?”
“Loan sharks. When my grandmother died she had a lot of unpaid debts. They want me to pay them. They're really annoying too.”
“Is that so? Well, it should be solved now.”
Hina shook her head at what Miko said.
“These guys are just small fries. The really problem is the guy they work for.”
“Is that guy strong?”
“Considering that their boss is [Lower B Class], yeah. They're far stronger than us.”
“[Lower B Class]?”
This was also another term unfamiliar to Miko. He was starting to think he didn't know enough about this world.
“Hm? What you don't know about the [Classes]?”
“I'm just a six-year-old country boy. I'm ignorant towards most things.”
Hina laughed when she heard Miko's words.
“Well, it's not like everyone knows much about it. I just thought your [Parent God] would’ve explained it to you.”
“It's seems my [Parent God] is just an uneducated lizard that doesn't know much about the world.”
(……..)
Hina smiled warily.
“You don't seem to respect them do you?”
“Let me ask you this. When you see a piece of crap on the side of the road, do you bow down and pray to it?”
“….No.”
“Well, it's the same.”
(I'll definitely kill you one day.)
Miko ignored Tiamat's threat with a shrug.
Hina laughed weakly unknowing that there was an enraged goddess listening in on their conversation.
That's when Miko picked up something with his beast-like hearing.
It was the sound of a gun being loaded.
He quickly looked around and saw several men standing on the nearby rooftops.
They were all pointing various machine guns at them.
The guns had an odd shape, so he figured out that they must be magic guns.
“Well, doesn't this look fun. To think they would use the Anti-Proxy Rifle, Trident, on a little girl like me.”
Hina looked nervous for the first time.
Miko haven't heard of these guns before, but if it's called the Anti-Proxy Rifle, he could guess it's fire power.
“Hey, how many can you take without getting shot?”
He asked.
“About two. Those guns uses homing bullets, that will follow you wherever you go until it turns you into meat paste.”
“Isn't this suppose to be a fantasy world? Why is the technology here so advance?”
While he complained like that, he could see more men cornering them from both ends of the road.
They were trapped.
“Did you piss off the mafia or something?”
“Mafia? What's that?”
“Never mind.”
Miko released his claws and fangs, and covered them in flames.
Seeing that, the men readied to fire at any minute.
“Don't die, Hina. I still have a lot of stuff to ask you.”
“Hahahaha! I'm only 10 years old, I refused to die so young!”
Saying that, Hina took out something from her baggy sleeve.
It was a piece of paper. She poured magic into it and made it glow, before throwing it into the air.
Everyone's attention was stolen by the floating paper. And then-
“[Manifest!]”
Four round orbs fell out from inside the paper.
It was then it happened.
*Flash*
The orbs light up and released an intense blinding light, which robbed the men of their sight.
“Mikky, Run!”
Miko who was the only one who didn't allow himself to be distracted by the paper, listened to Hinami and ran with her.
He slashed the men he passed with his claws, to cut down the number of pursuers.
“To think that you could use even flash grenades! You're a pretty badass 10-year-old girl! I might make you my wife if you continue on this way!”
“I'm pretty expensive you know! I'm afraid a kid like you can't afford me!”
The two ran through the narrow alleys and moved carefully through the streets.
“Where are we going?!”
“The backstreets are probably crawling with guys like that, so we're heading to my home!”
“So we're just going to run and hide under your bed?!”
“Just so you know, Tridents are illegal in this country. That's because if used correctly, it can blow away a mountain! I'm a petite little girl who still hasn't entered puberty! So, I doubt my body can withstand something like that!”
“I need one those…”
“Besides, I have friends at home who can help us out!”
Hina smiled confidently and continued-
“With them, we can launch a counter.”
“Is that so?”
Miko smiled in anticipation. If they were as strong as Hina, he might try to recruit them all. Even if it doesn't work he's confident that he can escape.
“This is getting interesting.”

On the Road to Elspar (Book 1)
The year is 1329. The Huntress' War has entered its tenth year, inflaming competing nationalisms and pitting the Confederacy of Caldrein against one of the continent's superpowers, the Tenereian Union. Desperately outnumbered, the Confederacy has relied on the prowess of its famed Caldran mercenaries, with highly-trained and experienced warbands returning from foreign conflicts to the defense of their homeland, and it is on their backs that Caldrein has successfully mounted a valiant defense for a decade. But they are losing, and day by day, with all the grace of a sledgehammer, the vast Tenereian armies take one more bit of Caldran territory, one footstep at a time. Sixteen-year-old Neianne from the village of Caelon has submitted herself to Faulkren Academy, one of the centuries-old institutions established to train the next generation of Caldrein's elite soldiers of fortune, to learn the ways of wars for three years before embarking upon the defense of her country. Her dryad family once hailed from reclusive woodland communes isolated from Caldrein's complicated mainstream society, and her upbringing leaves the shy village girl unprepared to suddenly train alongside other apprentices from backgrounds as low as the dirty slums of Caldrein's cities and as high as the halls of aristocratic power. Yet the war is eroding the norms and traditions that the Caldran people have long considered part of their national mythos, and the tensions within the confederacy that have long simmered under the surface - race, class, community, identity - are slowly but surely dividing its people, and Neianne must grow and discover who she really is, even as the war that she is steadfastly training for comes to its inexorable end... On the Road to Elspar is a fantasy quest - a work of interactive fiction wherein readers get to vote on what happens next at critical junctures - that is the first entry in a story that follows Neianne of Caelon, which first began on July 20, 2016. Originally a three-part in medias res prologue to a larger story titled On the Elsparian Road, it was eventually decided that this section - which covers Neianne's three years at Faulkren Academy - become its own independent story due to length, structural, and accessibility reasons. Despite this being a reader interactive work of fiction, due to logistical and verification concerns, voting will only be counted on its thread on the forum Sufficient Velocity, where this story originally began. As such, the content here on Royal Road serves as a story-only archive. You are, of course, entirely welcome to enjoy On the Road to Elspar as a conventional work of fiction, just as you are welcome to comment, discuss, and provide critique. But if you would like to participate in the voting, then I would be honored to welcome you on Sufficient Velocity. To facilitate accessibility and to ensure the best reading experience, this story-only version of On the Road to Elspar will be updated at a periodic pace, even though further content exists, so as to not overwhelm new readers on Royal Road. If you enjoy this story, wish to binge it, and/or want to participate in voting immediately, you may of course read all additional content via the link provided above. This paragraph will be removed once the content on Royal Road catches up with what has already been posted in its original thread. Cover artwork by DreamSyndd.
