《Mythical Conquest》Unexpected Danger
Advertisement
It was now 3 months since Sasha announced her 2nd pregnancy. Since then Miko has slowly began distancing himself from her.
“Leon, don't you think Miko has been cold towards me lately?”
“Now that you've mention it, he hasn't glared at me for touching you since you told him you're pregnant.”
“Do you think he's jealous?”
“No way, he's only a baby. He doesn't understand something complicated like jealousy.”
Sasha and Leon were sitting together in the kitchen. They were watching their son “play” in the backyard.
“I don't know. I'm starting to feel lonely….”
Sasha said with a solemn look on her face.
Miko overheard their conversation and glanced at her, before turning his head away again.
Sasha was a little shocked when she saw that.
(Aren't you being a little too cold towards them? You're father is nothing new, but didn't you used to cling to your mother any chance you got?)
‘She's not my mother. My mother’s dead, you know that.’
(No, Logan Cross’s mother is dead. Gamiko Dragna’s mother is over there looking like she's about to cry.)
‘……..’
(Ignoring me, huh. Fine, do things your way.)
‘She's having a second child….’
(What? Don't tell me your jealous?
‘Far from it. I'm planning to leave them when I'm strong enough to travel on my own. A second child should make it easier for them to let go of me.’
(You really don't understand the human heart do you?)
‘I don't want to hear that from a 20,000 year old dragon.’
Miko slowly entered the kitchen and walked past his parents, without giving them a single glance.
This further devastated Sasha.
‘I understand the human heart quite well. Me distancing myself probably won't be enough for them to let me go, but that doesn't matter. I have no intention of accepting another set of parents again. A second child simply reminded me of that.)
The faces of his previous parents flashed in his mind.
He remembered their smiling faces.
He remembered them laughing,
He remembered their faces filled with disappointment.
He remembered their faces filled with scorn.
He remembered looking down on their corpses smiling.
He remembered that he killed them.
‘Anyway, I think I've figured out how to manipulate magic. I intend to try it out tomorrow.’
(Why not now?)
‘What part of lazy by nature you don't understand? I'm going to sleep.’
Later that night, Miko heard a sound coming from somewhere in the house and woke up.
He looked beside him and realize that he was alone on the bed.
Feeling uneasy, he got up and left the room.
He quietly headed towards the kitchen, and saw a dangerous scene.
“Mhm! Mhm!”
Sasha was tied up and muzzled.
“What kind of Bondage play are these two doing?”
Miko said to himself. Of course he was joking.
He knew that his parents weren't into that level perversion.
And besides if they were, Leon would probably be the one tied up.
Miko immediately knew what kind of situation he was in.
“A burglary, huh? Is it me or I'm like a magnet to these sort of things?”
Miko looked and saw that there were three men digging around the house. They were obviously the burglars.
“Now then, how should I handle this? From the fact that I don't see Leon means that he isn't here. What is he doing, leaving his pregnant wife and two-year old son alone?”
Miko's impression of his father just kept getting worse.

“The current me can't take them on. Should I let them do as they please? No, there's a high chance that they'll take Sasha with them when they leave. They would probably keep her as their toy or sell her off as a slave. This is a world filled with gods and demons so I'm sure slavery exists here.”
Miko immediately thought about all the bad ways this could end for Sasha if she wasn't rescued.
“Should I ask Tiamat for help? No, a Proxy who can't even handle something as simple as a burglary, is of no use to her. So, she'll probably just observe from a far.”
In the last two years, Miko came understand how Tiamat's mind works.
He understood that she wasn't joking when she said that they were exact alike.
Their personalities were very similar.
Miko started to wonder if this meant he had a god complex.
“Damn it, there's barely anything here!”
Miko's thoughts were interrupted by one of the men's angry shout.
“I told you this house didn't have anything worth stealing. You made me waste my time.”
Said one of the other men.
“What should we do?”
“Let's just sell the girl. She's a beauty, so I'm sure we'll get a good price for her. Maybe from a fat nobleman or something?”
“Mhm! Mhm!”
Hearing the men's conversation, Sasha began to struggle harder to free herself.
The reason why she didn't use magic to burn the ropes, was because magic heavily stresses the body. Hence pregnant women are advised not to use magic, otherwise it could lead to a miscarriage.
Sasha desperately tried to crawl away, but one of the men grabbed her and slapped her.
“Sit still! I'm already pissed as it is, because of your poor family!”
“…….”
Sasha glared at the man with her cheeks red.
“You little…!”
When the man saw that, he got angrier.
“Who the hell are you glaring at?!”
He lifted his hand to hit her again.
“?!”
But as he was about to swing down his hand, his body froze up.
“W-Wha?”
It wasn't like anything was done to his body. His arm stopped on its own. Or more specifically, by reflex.
“W-What is this feeling?”
The man felt a chill down his spine, when he was about to hit Sasha. That chill was so cold that his body froze.
He realized that his palms became sweaty, and before knew it his knees started shaking.
“Mama!”
He suddenly heard a child's voice. He then saw an azure haired baby run towards the woman.
He unconsciously let her go, and she fell to the ground.
“Mama!”
The baby, who he couldn't figure out whether it was a boy or a girl, hugged the woman and removed the tape from her mouth.
Before the man knew it, the chill disappeared. Leaving him confused about what happened.
“Miko! Run get out here and find daddy!”
But he snapped out of it when he heard Sasha's voice.
“What? There was a baby here?”
“Should we sell him too?”
The other two men saw the baby, and spoke from the other side of the room.
“Naw. Babies don't really sell that fast, so we'll only lose money raising him until he can be sold.”
“I see. Then Jackson, kill the baby and grab the girl.”
The man who slapped Sasha was called Jackson.
He looked back at his partners, with a slight confused expression.
“What? You can't do it. Isn’t this kind of thing your hobby?”

One the men mocked Jackson.
“D-Don't look down on me! I'll kill this brat no problem!”
Replied Jackson.
“Good. Then we'll wait outside. The way you kill people makes me sick after all.”
After saying that, the two men left the outside. Leaving Jackson alone with Sasha and Miko.
He stared at Miko. He looked at Jackson with tears(?) in his eyes.
Jackson put on a sadistic smile and kicked at him.
“Guh!”
“Hm?”
His foot hit flesh but it wasn't Miko's. Sasha had jumped in the way and shielded him.
This surprised both Miko and Jackson.
“Don't you dare touch my baby!”
Sasha who was withering in pain shouted angrily at Jackson.
This angered Jackson and he stepped on her.
“You're getting on my nerves! Just sit still like a good merchandise!”
He repeatedly stomp on her, and then tried to kick Miko again.
“Hah?!”
But, Sasha bit his leg with all of her strength.
“Ugh! You bitch! Let go!”
Jackson started punching Sasha’s head, but she wouldn't let go.
When he saw that punching didn't work, he started kicking her with his free leg.
“Let go! Let go! Shit!”
He started to mix punches with the kicks. But she still wouldn't let go.
Even when blood started dripping from her mouth and nose she didn't let go. Even when her head started bleeding, she just continued to sink her teeth into jackson’s flesh.
“……..”
Miko watched the desperate Sasha with a shocked expression.
He knew that it was normal for a mother to do anything to protect her child. He knew. But he has never witnessed it firsthand.
For the first time in his two lives, Miko was being protected by his mother. And this, confused him.
“Damn it, I said let go!”
Jackson in a fit of rage, kicked Sasha in the stomach.
“Cough?!”
The force lifted her body off the ground, and she finally let go of Jackson.
She rolled across the room, holding her stomach.
“M-My baby! My baby!”
Sasha started to scream out with tears in her eyes. Fear was present in her voice.
Not fear for herself, but fear for her unborn child.
“What? You're pregnant? I couldn't tell because of that nightgown you're wearing.”
Jackson angrily walked up to Sasha. He pull out a knife from behind him.
“Pregnant women are low in price. So, I'll have to remove that for you.”
He rub the knife across Sasha's stomach.
“This is a cruel world were the strong devours the weak, it's not for a weak baby! You should be grateful for the free abortion!”
He lift the knife to stab Sasha. But then-
“?!”
His body froze again. But this time chill was a lot worse.
“W-What the?”
His body started to tremble, causing him to drop the knife.
Jackson looked at his trembling hand, and finally realized.
His was afraid.
His body was instinctively afraid of something.
Jackson quickly turned around to look for it, and spotted a baby.
The baby was glaring at him. He was certain.
“……Its him?”
The baby’s, Miko's glare wasn't that of a human.
It was more like that of beast. No, a monster.
His eyes were cold and lacked emotion; but at the same time savage and terrifying.
It didn't match a baby at all.
“Wha…?”
Jackson reflexively stepped back.
The longer he stared into the baby's eyes more the frightened he got.
He felt as if his soul was slowly leaving his body. His blood ran cold as ice.
“W-What the hell…?”
The trembling and sweating wouldn't stop.
He didn't know if it was the fear causing him to hallucinate, but he felt as if there was a black beast standing behind the baby.
It had blood dripping from its fangs and claws. It's eyes were vicious and screamed danger.
The beast behind the baby looked hungry.
Jackson watched as its long tail, wrapped itself around him.
“What the hell is that?!”
Jackson screamed causing Sasha to look at Miko as well.
She also felt a chill run down her spine. She was instinctively frightened by her child.
But that was only for an instant. Because she knew that her child was angry for her sake.
“Mi-”
“Haaaaaaah!”
As she was about to say something, Jackson ran and desperately kicked Miko away.
“Miko?!”
He rolled across the room and Jackson rushed towards him with a different knife.
“Die, you monster?!”
He tried to stab him, but his body once again froze. But this time it felt like even his heart stopped beating for a while.
“Ek!”
He shirked as he saw Miko slowly stand up.
The glare intensified.
“Die?”
A dark and emotionless voice came from the baby's mouth.
The monster behind him changed into a burning skeleton.
“Haaaaa!”
Jackson screamed as the skeleton’s hand went into his chest and gripped his heart.
“Haaaaa! I don't wanna die! I don't wanna die! I don't wanna die!”
“Why? It isn't so bad, you know?”
Jackson saw it.
What was in the baby’s mouth weren't teeth that belonged to the human race, but sharp fangs that resembled a demon’s.
It was then he realized.
What stood in front of him was a bloodthirsty monster in human skin.
“H-Help!”
At the squirming Jackson, Miko smiled gently and said.
“Die.”
“Haaaaa!....Guh?!”
Jackson was hit in head with an iron club and fell to the floor.
Of course, Miko wasn't the one who did it.
“Miko! Sasha! Are you two okay?!”
It was Leon.
He had a club in his hand and his clothes were torn.
‘….He must've fought the ones outside. The fact that he's here means that he took them out. From the amount of blood on the club, he obviously killed them.’
Miko figured out the situation in seconds after observing his father's condition.
He saw when Leon entered the room, and bought time for him to strike down Jackson.
‘I don't know what he saw when he looked at me, but it helped me out a bit.’
Jackson was the only one who saw the illusions. Miko had no idea what he saw, but he chose to take advantage of it.
Sasha didn't see it either. It was the glare that had frightened her.
Leon walked over to Sasha who was badly wounded.
“Leon, the baby…”
Sasha spoke with a weak voice.
“Don't worry. I'm sure it's alright. It's a descendant of Dragon Goddess Tiamat, after all. I'm sure she protected him.”
‘……Huh? Descendant of Tiamat?!”
Miko was shocked when he heard this.
But, He decided that he'll ask Tiamat about it later.
For now looking after his mother was more important.
That night they contacted the guards and had them clean up the burglars.
They also went to a doctor to check on the baby.
They learned two things about Sasha's pregnancy that night.
Firstly, the baby was indeed safe.
And secondly, Sasha was having twins.
