《Just a Rock》Chapter 13: Fisherman
Advertisement
An old man followed by a young boy came to the riverside. The old man held a bucket in one hand and a tarp in the other. The young boy chased a grasshopper while the old man laid the tarp out on the beach and set the bucket down next to it. Then he went to check the net while beckoning the youth to his side.
The old man stooped down by the net and lifted it a few centimeters, causing the fish caught in it to struggle. The young boy laughed and tried touching one of the fish, but flinched as the fish suddenly convulsed in another attempt to escape.
The old man entered the water upstream of the net, the water went up to his waist in the center of the river. The youth was content with slipping his feet into the water and watching the old man. The old man allowed the water to submerge his body completely as he dived down to the bottom of the net. There he lifted a stone that was holding the bottom of the net down. How shocking, the traitorous stones on the shore had undercover agents below.
Freeing the net from the clutches of these shameless stones who chose to hide their traitorous intentions, the old man raised the bottom of the net up. He folded the net in half to keep the fish caught in-between the two sides, using a bit of twine to keep the sides together. Then he relieved the stones on the shore of their duty. Finally, he brought it to the shore and dragged it onto the tarp and began sorting the catch.
The old man worked quickly to toss the fish into the bucket while the youth played around with the debris that was caught in the net like shells and stones. After they were done, the remaining debris was tossed unceremoniously into the river while the old man reinstalled the net in the river. As for the rock, it had caught the eye of the youth and was in a pile of shiny stones and shells.

When they packed up to leave, the youth realized the rock was too big and heavy to carry back. Of course, such a young child wouldn’t be able to endure how grand the rock was. The old man noticed the youth’s struggle and decided to replace one of the stones holding up the net with the rock; that way the youth could easily find it again every time they went to collect the catch.

Ashes of the Primordial
With the upcoming shutdown of the servers for Ragnarok Games’ deep dive VRMMO, ‘Ashes of the Primordial’, the player log of those online for the final night was depressingly empty-looking. A revolutionary level of realism drove Ashes to the forefront of the games market, billions of players enjoying their journey to power and glory as an avatar of their own creation. The final enemy of the game-world defeated, the company announced, in line with their stance from launch, that they would be shutting down the game exactly six months after the defeat of Sutr, the final boss. Ammanas, the player responsible for Sutr's defeat, stays online until the end. However, as the countdown hits 0, the start-hub of his dive rig (what would typically greet a forced ejection from a game) was no where to be seen and instead darkness greets him as he fades into unconsciousness. Awakening to unfamiliar sights in an unfamiliar body, one which turns out to be a lot more familiar than he first thought, now he must figure out where, how, why and what to do with the new world he finds himself in. Author note: I don't own the cover, just something found through a google search. This is also my first story and the MC will basically be unimaginably OP yet never really utilising his full power. He just wants to find somewhere to fit in to the new world he finds himself in and despite both his nature as a loner and his interests he will find himself forming connections with the denizens of this new realm. Hope you enjoy

Foreshadow
It's was already over 200 years since the last Supernatural War. Due to the use of technology against humanity, it created a psychological trauma that leads to the slow advancement of technology. Throughout the years, the world was unbelievably silent and in peace. Many believed that the pact signed by humanity and Supernatural Species kept the two opposing forces on watch. Some thought that both sides are brewing something and kept their cards hidden. Even the rumors told that the peace wouldn't last long and the war would break out in a few years. Who would know the future and things it would tell. Maybe the war would break out of nowhere or the world would remain at ease.---Note:First, I don't own the picture and credits to its rightful owner. Second, English isn't my native language. So before hand, sorry for the wrong grammar, misspelled words and the redundancies. Last, enjoy! --- Hiatus for the meantime while I'm retyping/reediting the first ARC. Thank YOU!

The Orb Weaver Chronicles
"The Orb Weaver Chronicles contains several major and unique events that may or may not unknowingly intertwines with one another. The author of these chronicles is unknown, although some have hinted at the symbolism behind its name..." - Year unknown, location unknown 9 February 2022 Update: Welcome to the companion short story compilation of my novel trilogy The Shadow Paradigm. This compilation features prequels, sidequels and sequels to the novel's major plotline, as well as featuring a wide range of characters, new and recurring. Prior knowledge of the novel is not necessary as the Orb Weaver Chronicles' short stories are standalone. Once called The Arkesyyan Chronicles, I've deleted quite a few of its old stories. Due to the new avenue and revision, oriented toward more mystery and film-noir ambience, that I took my stories into, I've removed all aliens and overly sci-fi aspects of the whole TSP lineup, so I've updated the Orb Weaver Chronicles accordingly. I hope you enjoy them, and in time, a revised version will also be updated.
