《The Voyager》Season 1: The Starcraft Commander---Chapter 65: Boarding II

Thankfully the special ops transport, which had a cloaking field on it, arrived onto the Victor safely. It entered the hanger of the ship and landed. Jean and Nova walked out.
A Dominion officer in a marine suit was waiting there as the door opened. She wore a marine CMC armor that was almost identical with the normal Dominion marines. The only difference was a small sigil on her shoulder plate.
“Admiral Heart. We have taken over the majority of the ship. Most of the crew members are captured. Rebel forces are broken. Those that that didn’t surrender were executed.” She reported proudly. “The remaining rebels are in the bridge. They have sealed the door. My boys are working to break through. It’s just a matter of time.”
“Very well.” Jean smiled and nodded kindly. She walked headon to where the bridge would be. The officer and Nova followed her. As they were walking, Jean asked the officer. “You are…”
“Ashley. Captain Ashley. I am one of the four captains leading the first wave.” Ashley replied, slightly saddened. “I haven’t heard from the other three captains. My men were lucky enough to gain a ground after landing. Chances are the other three weren’t as lucky.”
Jean nodded and walked on. Twenty elite Dominion marines followed. Now that she was a Dominion Admiral she had received a guard squad. In a real fight she could kill all twenty marines in ten seconds, but Jean needed to hide her zerg part. That meant she needed to play the profile of a physically vulnerable girl who used her tactical mindset to get to her place. Security could solve many situations.
As Jean was walking, she came across many dead marines and marauders. Their armors were shattered and blood was forming small puddles beneath them. The battle was still going, and men were used to attack rather than do cleaning duties. Dead bodies were just left lying on the ground. Bullets and grenade holes were scattered all around the walls of the hallway. Occasionally gunshots would echo through the hallway. Jean walked on.

Jean suddenly halted. A dead Dominion marine was on the ground. His helmet was opened, revealing a young face. He was no more than twenty. A bullet pierced his chest and ended his young life. His eyes were open in shock.
Jean knelt down and closed his eyes. She signed and stood back up and continued walking. Behind her, the marines were obviously surprised. None of them expected a general like her to spend time and actually pay a dead marine respect. Normal Dominion generals, such as Davis, were cold and even brutal to their men. They saw the soldiers as numbers and merely used them as tools. Jean seemed different, and the troops were touched.
The small group eventually came to a metal door completely sealed from the inside. A small groups of soldiers in red Dominion armor, marines and marauders, turned around with their weapons ready as they heard footsteps closing in. They put down their weapons when they saw their captain.
“Boys, this is Admiral Heart.” The soldiers turned to Jean with respect. She nodded back.
“How long will it take to breach that door?” She asked.
“We have the charges. We can use them whenever you want, Admiral.” A marauder replied.
‘Then do it.” Jean ordered. The Dominion soldiers stood back and checked their weapons. Ashley walked up and attached a charger to the door. The guard squad walked up and formed a metal wall between Jean and whatever danger in the room with their shields, armors, and bodies. Nova gripped tightly to her canister rifle. She knew the girl beside her didn’t need her protection, but that didn’t mean she would sit back and do nothing while others fight The captain walked back and looked at Jean. When Jean nodded, Ashley pressed a button on her armor.

The explosion ripped a large hole through the metal door and opened a way for attack. Marines and marauders charged forward with determination. They were met with a group of prepared opposition.
The first marine raised his shield and charged into the room. Almost instantly the tactical shield was thrashed by a wave of marine gauss rifles and marauder grenade launchers. The metal weapon was reduced to a useless piece of junk. The marine lifted his rifle and blindly fired for just one second before his armor and his body was destroyed by the defenders.
The sacrifice of the first marine brought his comrades some time. The second marine, ignoring the death of his predecessor, moved up and fired at the defenders. He died two seconds later from a grenade to the head, and then the third came.
After the fifth dead marine a marauder finally took action. The improved CMC armor offered much better protection. Marine rifles had trouble penetrating the thick layer of metal. Under the metal storm the marauder moved around to dodge firings and fired at the same time. His stim pack allowed him to do both at the same time with ease. A grenade was fired from his weapon and hit a control panel. The explosion knocked three marines onto the ground. Three grenades from the rebel marauders ended his life, but he had already brought enough time.
As the battle went on more and more Dominion forces entered the bridge. The rebels fought for their general with ultimate determination. Those that were still with Davis were willing to give their lives for their general. In the end the Dominion was forced to slay the rebels to their last men to get to Davis.
Several minutes later, Nova sniped her eleventh rebel. When she looked up, all the rebels were dead.
Walking past piles of dead soldiers and destroyed armors, Jean finally saw the woman that she had fought with for the last few hours. The infamous general Davis.
She was still in her army uniform. Her grey hair couldn’t hide her inner strength and determination. A pistol was on her belt. Jean knew from her psi energy that it had been fired. The fact that she was defeated and her guards were slaughtered in front of her didn’t seem to have shaken her. General Davis had already moved past the phase of being frightened by death quite a while ago.
