《The Voyager》Season 1: The Starcraft Commander---Chapter 55: Just like that

Entering the Dominion palace, Jean noticed the place was heavily guarded. Elite terran units were all over the place. Marines, marauders, and medics patrolled the hallways in groups of twelve. Ten marines. One marauder. One medic. Elite ghosts hid in the shadows. Their modified personal cloaking fields allowed them to cloak longer than other ghosts. Jean could only sense their presence due to her overwhelming psi abilities thanks to Kerrigan. These ghosts could suddenly appear in unexpected areas and take any intruder by surprise. Any intruder could find themselves EMPed, leaderless, and picked off by these invisible elites.
An open area was built in every cross intersection of the palace. It allowed the presence of larger mechanical units like siege tanks and thors. Hidden turrets were scattered all over the field. Detectors could make the place a death trap for anyone that tried to cloak and infiltrate the palace. After all, this was the heart of the terran Dominion. As far as Jean knew the Pride of Augustgrad fleet could get into action in minutes if there were intruders.
“Don’t try anything.” Nova noticed Jean glancing around and warned. She felt something strange on Jean. She didn’t knew it was because of Jean’s newly gained psi abilities. The ghost didn’t realize the change Jean underwent in the swarm. Abathur’s genetics skill was to be praised. Without changing Jean was a vulnerable human being. The carapace under her skin protected her from being sniped and killed before she could change, but otherwise she was weak. An unarmored man like Liam could punch her and make her bleed. Jean didn’t respond.
Walking across three more hallways, Jean finally arrived at a door guarded by twenty Son of Korhal elite marines. Four special ops ghosts were also in the shadows. Nova walked up and opened the door. Some random female ghost pushed Jean inside.

“Jean Turner.” The girl saw the emperor of the Dominion walking up to her. He seemed glad. Nova walked to the side, leaving the field to the emperor and the girl. The emperor’s son, Valerian Mengsk, was also present. It was as if the father was trying to teach the son a lesson.
“Mengsk.” Jean stated before being hit in the face and falling on her back. She felt blood falling down from her nose. The man was not holding back, nor was he afraid of hitting a girl.
“Show some respect, girl.” Mengsk hissed as he took out a napkin and wiped his fist of Jean’s blood. “You’re not so menacing without a computer. Threaten me?” He walked up and kicked Jean in the stomach. Jean fell back, coughing. “This is what you get for threatening a Mengsk.”
Valerian seemed to be taken back. He wanted to say something, but chose not to.
Sitting back up and seeing Mengsk was about to continue his abuse, Jean held a hand up. “Hit me again and I will never work for you.” She threatened weakly. “Isn’t that why you wanted me alive?”
Mengsk smiled wickedly as he grabbed onto Jean’s suit and pushed her to a wall. Mengsk wasn’t exactly strong, but as a girl Jean was light and weak. “Oh I need you to work for me, hacker, but that doesn’t me you’ll do it willingly.” He touched his temple. “A small surgery here, and you will be my most loyal servant.”
“Just like Nova?” Jean grinned, sensing Mengsk’s hot breath.
Mengsk frowned. “Yes.” He said, either not realizing what Jean was trying to do or just not caring. “Just like Nova Terra.”
Beside him Nova’s mind twisted and turned. A surge of anger from being manipulated appeared, but all rebellious thoughts were suppressed and erased by the inhibitor in her brain. The agent stood back, unmoved.

Mengsk looked at Nova’s response and grinned viciously.
“Well.” Jean got the answer she wanted, which meant she no longer needed to be punched around by the thug. With a silent order her body started to turn.
Mengsk watched in horror as the vulnerable blonde whom he was just hitting around seconds ago started to transform into a zerg abomination. Well, abomination didn’t really put it. Her orange suit was ripped apart by the layer of zerg carapace. Her fingers turned to claws. Before Mengsk could back off, those sharp claws moved forward and digged their way into his stomach. The metal restraints did nothing to hold the now zerg back.
It was easy and quick, just like a katana cutting through butter. The emperor stood in disbelief as waves of pain signal washed over his brain. Blood started to emerge from the wound where Jean’s claw was still inside the man.
Every ghost in the room, nine including Nova, raised their weapons and aimed at Jean’s head. A psi powered bullet would appear a second later and tear through Jean’s skull, but before that could happen eight figures appeared behind eight of the ghosts. Almost simultaneously eight plasma blades pierced through the backs of the eight ghosts.
As the ghosts fell, the eight killers showed their face. They were AI ghosts. Mechanical Warden units Jean designed that were similar to terran ghosts. Jean took them out of her watch.
Nova survived, but only because Jean took out three Warden ghosts and tackled her. They EMPed her and restrained her. Nova was alive but captured. It was a waste for her to die like this.
Jean saw the horrified look on Mengsk’s face. If it was Kerrigan here she would make this as painful as possible, but Jean saw no point in torturing her enemies unless they could provide valuable information. She merely pulled back her claws and watched the man collapse and die. A Warden ghost punched a bullet into his skull to make sure he was completely dead.
Beside, Valerian Mengsk stood horrified as his father, his cold, brutal, merciless, tricking father, just died in seconds. He almost cried out when Jean walked to her, but caught himself.
Walking to Valerian, Jean seemed like a monster and, to a certain point, she was. She was technically naked as her orange suit was destroyed, but the carapace and claws would make any men or women that came across her drop their dirty thoughts. The blood and organs on her claws didn’t help her appearance either.
“As far as I know, Prince Valerian,” Jean said slowly and concisely. “You are the rightful heir of the throne, which, since your father is dead, makes you the emperor of the terran Dominion.”

They know little of what that means, but they have to figure out the rules that are now their lot, for they have little hope to escape their predicament otherwise. They have to become Professionals on their own and rejoin the Empire. They will figure out their new lives one way or another. But will there be an Empire waiting for them when the Gates re-open? Caught in a clash of empires and high tiers, they will do what little they can. They will step up and do their best. One way or another. The Infinite Labyrinth is a slice-of-life litRPG adventure set in a real historical setting. It's a hard, crunchy litrpg. Expect blue boxes everywhere, and the system itself is very mathy. It started life as a serial. I prepared some proper worldbuilding, with enough details and background for lots of different potential story arcs, but as I wrote, I realized the main story needs to have a definitive end. So, there are four books in total, for a bit under 1500 pages, plus additional side stories, and even maybe a sequel one day. The Gore tag was added as a precaution because there are a few scenes with some light gore.
