《The Voyager》Season 1: The Starcraft Commander---Chapter 44: Return and imprisonment

Jean pulled her bone blade out of the chest of the high templar and watched as his body faded away. A distance away a destroyed immortal and two shattered sentries laid on the ground. Broken armors were all over the ground. When zealots die, their body fade away, and all that remained were the armors.
Frowning slightly, the girl looked at a bloody wound on her belly. The high templar fought bravely and made no intention of protecting himself. Instead he was attacking her like he was mad. The result was the wound. Nonetheless, the wound healed in 2 seconds. The sacrifice of the high templar was in vain.
Jean turned around and left the site of destruction.
“Izsha, what do you think?” Onboard the leviathan Kerrigan asked. She was watching the entire combat by psionically connecting to the queen below.
A strange creature was beside Kerrigan. She was a long creature, connected to the haul of the leviathan. She had a somewhat cute voice. She had grey eyes. Izsha acted as the adviser for Kerrigan.
“Jean Turner does not pose a threat to your rule, your majesty.” Izsha said with a soft voice that contradicted her appearance. “She is weak.” Perhaps Jean was invincible to that small group of protoss, but to Kerrigan and the swarm Jean was very weak. If she betrayed Kerrigan could easily crush her.
“Her weakness comforts me, but that doesn’t mean she is not a threat.” Kerrigan replied.
“Your majesty, you don’t trust her?” Izsha asked.
“Anyone that trusts Jean is a fool.” Kerrigan said with slight hatred. She wasn’t wrong.
“If Jean is a potential threat then order the swarm to terminate her. Your minions will bring her head to you in an hour.” Izsha said cruelly. She was a zerg, and zerg were practical. It didn’t matter that Jean was a zerg as well. Izsha stood from the point of view of Kerrigan, and if Jean was a threat to Kerrigan then she had to die.

“No. Jean is still useful.” Kerrigan watched as Jean moved into an overlord, which started floating toward the leviathan. Now was a perfect opportunity if she wanted Jean dead. In space she was defenseless. “All I need to do is make sure she doesn’t somehow take over my swarm.” She gave an order to the queen that led the zerg units that guarded her.
And so when Jean returned to the leviathan, she didn’t even see the queen of blades. Instead, she was surrounded by a dozen elite zerglings and hydralisks.
“I demand to see the queen.” Jean said slowly but with determination as she scanned the units around her. They were elite units, dedicated to the protection of Kerrigan. These units themselves didn’t pose a threat, but the fact that they were upon her wasn’t good.
“The queen have ordered your return to your chamber. You are to remain there until being summoned.” The queen replied with equal determination. “That’s an order from the queen.”
Jean came to a realization and nodded in agreement. She had no choice. She turned around and walked back to her chamber. Dozens of zerg units escorted her. Jean noticed there were large groups of zerg units burrowed underground. Their muscles were tense, as if they were ready to jump out and strike anytime. This was inside the leviathan. Jean immediately realized who they were for.
Walking into her chamber, she sat down on the ground. Her suit was practically destroyed, and she couldn’t risk exposing her watch to Kerrigan, which meant she had to maintain a zerg form.
The zerg units stopped outside the chamber and stood guard there. Jean knew they were meant for inside threats, not outside ones.
Closing her eyes, Jean went through what happened today.

She noticed something was wrong when Kerrigan asked her to go down there and fight the protoss herself. This was unusual and inefficient, and Kerrigan wouldn’t do that without a purpose. The rest was clear.
Kerrigan wanted to test her power because she felt threatened. If she turned out to be too powerful, then Kerrigan would take measures. The queen of blades wouldn’t allow such a threat.
Another thing was the timing. There was a reason now was when Kerrigan put her doubts into action. The battle against the protoss was going well. Several broodmothers just reported that they managed to dodge the incoming protoss carriers with ease after wiping out settlements. The guerilla warfare seemed to work and the threat of the Golden Armada was minimized, which meant Kerrigan didn’t really need Jean anymore…
Granted, Jean had allies, but she couldn’t really command them…
Luckily Jean saw that early enough. During the battle below she got hit several times when she could have dodged the attacks. She also weakened her carapace on purpose and relied on her healing ability to survive. The hit from the photon cannon shouldn't even go through her carapace, but she allowed it to do damage. All this was to make herself seem weaker. The weaker she was, the more likely her value would overcome her threat, and Kerrigan would allow her to live. Such was the case now. Jean was imprisoned but alive.
If Jean easily slaughtered the protoss below without taking a single wound then she would be met with the claws and spines the second she landed on the leviathan. No, the overlord she was in might just be shot out of the air.
Granted, that would hurt both sides. Jean would lost the aid of the swarm and be forced to deal with the Golden Armada with a weaker Dominion fleet, a smaller mercenary fleet, and a small portion of the Death Fleet, and Kerrigan, well…
The sight of a fully armed, completely prepared Gorgon battlecruiser suddenly appearing next to an unsuspecting leviathan would lead to a disaster...so would the feeling of 5 tactical nukes landing in the relatively soft belly of the beast. Leviathans were tough, but even they couldn’t act as if nothing happened after being nuked five times.
The current situation was the best for both sides. Kerrigan could continue to ravage through the Golden Armada and take out the last card of Amon, and Jean, as trapped as she seemed, had other ways to make a difference to the ongoing battle and speed up the fall of her enemy.
