《The Voyager》Season 1: The Starcraft Commander---Chapter 36: Boarding the Leviathan

“The Golden Armada is, with no doubt, very powerful. The plasma shields can protect the protoss ships from damage and the energy weapons can burn down any opposition.

Even the swarm can’t fight it head on and have a sure win.”

The swarm units had already exited the Hyperion, and the only zerg remaining in the ship was Sarah Kerrigan. The queen of blades was confident. She didn’t even consider the possibility that Jean would try to kill her. After the brief encounter Kerrigan knew exactly who Jean Turner was. She wouldn’t do something so stupid and illogical. Jean had her wound treated and was standing before a computer screen.

“However, the Golden Armada has a glaring weakness.”

“Entering warp space. Turning on and maintaining the plasma shield. Firing the weapons. Even maintaining battle condition. All of these need energy.”

Kerrigan understood Jean. “Are you saying…”

“If we can’t fight the enemy, we cripple and weaken them until we can fight the enemy and win.” Jean said quietly. “That’s what I did for Amon and this is what I am going to do with the Golden Armada. If we can…”

“...constantly put the Golden Armada in a state of battle to maximize the energy consumption...” The queen of blades wasn’t new to the art of war either.

“...attack Shakurus and destroy the economy of the Daeleem civilization to cut off further supplies...” Jean continued.

“...use the number advantage of the swarm and attack multiple protoss territories at the same time...disengage as soon as the protoss reinforcements arrive…” Kerrigan tapped her chin. Now that she thought about it, attacking a powerful enemy headon wasn’t the best idea. There was so much more to the art of war. She was even considering infecting Jean after Amon was done instead of killing her. The girl’s mindset was impressive.

“If everything goes right, then when the dark god comes back to life, assuming he still has enough Daeleem protoss left to corrupt and use to form his body, he will have a body and a worn out armada to work with. His enemies will be the combined forces of the rest of the sector. His time will be very limited.” Jean concluded.

Now that she looked at this after everything she put in place Jean found herself in a great situation. Moebius and the hybrids perished under 20 nukes. Tal’darim was being chipped away by Nyon. The swarm would never join Amon if their queen lived. The Golden Armada would be dealt with soon. Everything was great...if things went like she planned.

“I will go after the Golden Armada.” Kerrigan said but suddenly changed her tone. “Meanwhile, considering how damaged your ship is, I would like to invite you to my ship.” The queen of blades ‘invited’. Jean’s expression changed, and Kerrigan grinned. “You didn’t expect me to just let you go did you?” She said wickedly. “Don’t think about threatening me with the nukes. While we were having the conversation my children have disabled them. Of course I can kill you know but you may be of use to me in the future.” Her smile was wide. From the very beginning she had no intention of making a fair deal with the girl even if she didn't kill her lover. The only change of heart she had after all the conversation was that she wanted to turn Jean instead of killing her. It would be a waste for the swarm if someone this gifted just died when she could join the swarm.

Jean looked at Kerrigan’s smile with tight lips as if she wanted to protest. She pulled out a device and saw the nukes were offline. Eventually she yielded. The two left the Hyperion and boarded the Leviathan. As soon as they were gone, the leviathan pushed with its tentacles and completely destroyed the battlecruiser. The tentacles eventually pulled back, and the leviathan wrapped away.

What Kerrigan didn’t know was the second they left the Hyperion, the 5 disabled nukes in the ship disappeared as well.

In the leviathan, Jean silently tapped her watch.

The entire leviathan was covered with creep. This purple substance made it easier for zerg units to make around and increased their efficiency. Kerrigan led the way like a queen. Countless zerg units moved around the ship. Zerglings. Banelings. Hydralisks. All of these units were mutated and evolved far beyond any other zerg brood. As the queen of blades Kerrigan had the best essence and the best scientist to use for her army. One Leviathan zergling could defeat at least three feral zerglings.

“You are intelligent, Jean.” Kerrigan said as a complement. “Granted, you’re somewhat inexperienced and occasionally foolish, but give you some time to practice and you will be a good agent of the swarm.”

“You want to infect me?” Jean asked with a scent of fear and desperation in her tone.

“Not now.” Kerrigan grinned with a sense of confidence. “I need you to contact your allies, but once we’re done with Amon, I will infect you.” She said openly. Now that Jean was literally in the heart of the swarm she had nothing to worry about. She glanced at Jean and saw the correct response of emotions on her face. Now this was normal. Now she was scared. Kerrigan felt like everything was in control.

She was wrong.

Jean received a watch when she was teleported to this universe. From the memory she received she knew the watch was modified by a power beyond anyone’s comprehension. First of all it was invisible to anyone but the owner of the watch. Jean even flashed her watch before Kerrigan a few times and the mighty queen of blades didn’t see it. The watch was beyond the power of this world.

Another thing about the watch was that it could store things. The amount of things it could store was infinite, but there were limits. First of all the watch could only store objects that belonged to Jean. Jean didn’t know how the watch organised what belonged to whom, but she once tried to store a rifle that belonged to the Raiders and failed. When she eliminated all the Raiders she tried to store that rifle again. This time she was successful. Another thing was that she couldn’t store living things. From the memory Jean was given she knew she could bring everything in the watch with her to the next world.

Now Jean had countless objects in her watch. Her suit. 5 disabled nukes. Oh, and a Gorgon class battlecruiser full of elite mechanical AI units.

Jean wasn’t as weak as she appeared to be.

The two walked past hundreds of other swarm units and entered an evoluation chamber. All zerg buildings were technically alive and made up of flesh and blood. Jean’s eyebrows turned as she walked into the living building. It was like walking into the stomach of a monster. In front of her Kerrigan walked with a surprising confidence. All the zerg units moved away when the two approached.

A strange creature was in the evolution chamber. It was a small green creature with multiple fragile claws and a flickering mouth.

“The swarm will be engaging the Golden Armada,” Kerrigan turned to Jean. “and I will need your help with the tactics, but before that you’ll have to stay here. Abathur will make sure you’re healthy and nutritious.” She touched her chin thoughtfully. “Of course nutritions and health will no longer be a problem once you become a zerg.” She turned around and left the chamber, leaving Jean with the strange creature.
