《Nyix》Forest Life 13, Wrong Side of the Bed

"Come here little blanket" I coo with a delusional slur, glee oozing from every word.
Trotting towards me, the biggest, fluffiest creature of warm silky fur to ever to exist, framed by rolling planes of lush wheat, responds to my beckon. I hold out my wings in expectation and the living embodiment of comfort snuggles against my body, purring softly in tandem to the gentle breeze.
This is bliss. Never have I been so soothed, so happy, so one with the world, this is my purpose, my life.
I squeeze my wings tightly and sink deeper into the impossible fluffiness, it even smells like peppermint, how lovely! Could this be a divine being?! Not one to be outdone, the brown fluff in my arms wiggles slightly and then it's body expands, silky hair growing at an alarming rate. I'm not worried though, how could such a thing be anything other than the aspect of love? The expanding hair grows and grows until my tight hug has been reversed, and now I'm the one being tightly embraced by the fluff!
It feels nice to be on the receiving end for once. I'm in an endless sea of warmth and affection and I wouldn't rather be anywhere else!
But.. it is getting a lil'warm in here, really really dark too. I can't see or hear a thing! It's probably best if I get out and hug it normally.
"Ok, you can let go now" I say politely to my cozy benefactor.
But as soon as I open my beak, the brown fluff pushes into my mouth and muffles the words! Not very conscientious of the divine fluff, but it's alright, such an oversight can be forgiven. I just need to wiggle free!
Suffered 1 Acid Damage
Huh? is that a squiggle? I can't really see it as well a usual, it's so fuzzy.

I twist to the left, twist to the right, twist up and twist down, but no amount movement is strong enough to part the brown sea of fluff. It's also getting really hot! Like a constant sizzle!
Suffered 2 Acid Damage
'Oh, you're back Mr. Squiggly, and I can see you better now! Were you feeling sick?' I mentally query to mysterious lines.
Wait a minute. If I remember right, 'suffered' and 'damage' mean I'm getting hurt! so what's happening? I know it's hot, but not hot enough to hurt to me, my main method of attack is fire! Heat is nothing to me!
All of a sudden the delusional haze clogging up my brain lifts and I'm torn from my paradise-like dreamland of fluff to an ocean of dark murky green. Where the hell am I? This isn't the jungle.
I try to open my mouth and breathe only to choke on a thick, burning jelly.
Suffered 3 Acid Damage
With a startle, I thrash my arms and legs in absolute terror, I like to be able to breathe after all. Pulling with all my might, I crane my neck backwards and stomp my legs beneath me. My head emerges from my murky green prison with an audible 'pop' and I can see that I have returned to the outskirts of the jungle where I had slept.
Suffered 1 Acid Damage
I look at my body to see that from my neck down I'm submerged in a ball of green 'something'. I can't believe that this thing tried to snack on me while I was sleeping! The nerve!
Now aware that the supposedly dead, bird it was eating is still among living, the green ball wobbles haphazardly as if it had received an open hand smack, and releases it's slimy grip on me. Like a snake regurgitating it's stomach, the green bubble pushes me outwards and 'goops' away to the safety of the jungle at an pathetically slow speed.

Now fully free from the yucky green blob of water, I take the chance to jump up an down and flap like my life depended on it. Shaking off the sticky, foul smelling gunk. What happened to the smell of peppermint and wheat!?
"EWwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww" is the only thing I can say as tiny droplets of green water shower over the rocks.
That's it!
"Come back here!" I growl with all the anger I can muster, which is a lot, because no one desecrates my feathers and gets away with it!
I stomp beside the trial of slime and begin heating up a Bellows in my throat. The sludgy glob somehow 'sees' me crest the rocks behind it and kicks it up to it's highest gear, a casual walk.
Jungle Slime Slain, 1 exp gained
"AHHHHH!! WHY DID YOU HAVE TO EXPLODE?" I yell, instantly regretting the decision to shoot it with such powerful fire. So, once again, I bounce up and down while jerking with disgust, more goop showering the already smoldering goop soaking into the floor.
"AND ONLY 1 EXP!!!?" Thinking back, even those tiny blankets gave me like 3 or 4!
I let out a defeated huff and slouch my way back to the fight with the Misty Death for something to eat. From the looks of the stars and judging by how tired my eyes are, I've probably been sleeping for a few hours, which is to say, I'm not a happy camper in the least. I need a midnight snack!
Oh... The Misty Death is gone. All that remains is a suspicious goopy footprint. That's cool.
I let out a sigh of utter defeat and slouch even lower. Why me? I barely beat the Misty Death in a fight, barely got any sleep, woke up in sentient filth, nearly drowned, and I don't even get a single scrape of my hard earned meal for breakfast!
"urgggggggghhhhhhhhhhhaaaaahnnnnnnnnnnnngrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" I don't even have the energy to formulate proper complaints, just annoying sounds. I mean I'm not that hungry, but still, I wanted to eat that, it looked tasty.
I look up and down the length of the wall to make out the distant image of the giant blue tree, which much to my delight, has leaves that glow in a ghostly light much like how my feathers do! We are birds of a feather! I take a moment to stretch out my weary legs before setting off again, thinking that maybe if I start now I can arrive by the morning. Besides I don't wanna wake up in the gullet of some living slime, it's sleeping in trees all the way here on out!
Grumbling tiredly about every single issue I've ever had, I put one foot in front of the other, the first step of many. Raising an arm to my beak, I stifle a mighty yawn that threatens to unhinge my jaw. My eyes go wide when I glance over my wing since waking up.
It's fully healed! Not a single blemish or imperfection! The picture of perfect bird beauty!
The shock only lasts for half a second before my sleep deprived personality returns in full glory.
"Well that's cool and all, but I'm too tired to even care, so what if I heal quickly? I can come back to life after dying! that's infinitely better." I snob at myself as I take another step.

A-Live AI
The year is 2247. For almost two hundred years Sentient AI research has been banned. Everyone knew this, and yet no one has ever given up on finding the perfect setup for it. Restricted AI are rare, but possible to get ahold of if you have the money and the clout to get through the law for it. Especially when it deals with the military. Alfred Homis is an engineer and has spent the last three years working for the United Terran Military's Research and Exploration Department. Specifically to help build a 'shackled' AI who's prime directive was to explore potentially habitable worlds. Worlds that are far cheaper to colonize and add to the United Terran Directorate's fold than terraforming. During the AI's maiden voyage things go horribly wrong, taking Alfred Homis along for the ride. Thrown into a parallel universe where the laws of physics are just a little messed up, Alfred finds himself trapped inside the very machine he'd helped to build. Add magic, hostile fantasy creatures, and two different pantheons of 'Gods' to the mix and things get even more complicated. Oh, and an invasion between universes to boot. But that's just all in a days work though for Alfred, the AI Lord. Authors Note: Hi guys! Long time no see. And yes, I know that's all on me. But I blame life for that. Anyway, this is my new work, and I hope you guys enjoy it! The chapters are a little shorter than I'd previously posted in my other stories, but I cannot say that I have the same amount of time or energy to write them like that anymore. Sorry about that. Still, some warnings: There is cursing in this story. I am not going to edit it out. There will be sexual content later. Blood, gore and cruel depictions are all planned. If that isn't your thing, I'd suggest you turn back now. There is also my dry, and often not-so-funny sense of humor. And oh, it's all in first person gain. Haha. I just tend to write better that way. If none of that bothers you, then enjoy the read! Feel free to comment, point out mistakes, or make suggestions! Reviews are nice too, but please lay off the criticism until the story gets good and going. Thank you. Note 1: Some edits to the synopsis.

A sensitivity reader (someone who goes through your manuscript and assesses representations in your work) identified a number of issues surrounding the Filipino representation in BTM. I'm rewriting with the goal of creating a more authentic and respectful story.
