《The Deadliest Blade of Grass》Ch. 3 - Where am I?*

-- POV ??? – Soul Stream
Looks like that little soul finally sprouted. I was sweating since it was taking him longer than the rest of the grass in the area to finally grow. Looks like the genetic instinct of the plant is pretty strong and he wasn’t able to resist it for too long though. That’s both good and bad. If he waited too long, then the other grass would have clouded his access to the sky, and he would have died. If he immediately grew up, then I knew I would be safe, since that means his instinct took full control over his mind. Both of those would have been preferable to what I’m seeing now though, since either of those would have greatly increased the chances of him dying. I don’t like this half-measure stuff, it means that his instincts will guide him, and that he has a good amount of control over himself. Oh well, he’s still just a blade of grass. With that Title I gave him, he should see his end soon enough hya hya hya.
Let’s see where he is now. I don’t have any control on where the souls reincarnate, but hopefully he’s near a rabbit den, or a locust plague, or a fire!!!
….
Damn. He’s in a regular grass field. Come on, maybe there’s at least a dragon nearby, maybe he’ll roast the grass on passing.
….
Are you kidding me!? He’s in the field known as the peaceful glade. Stupid karma must have helped him spawn somewhere safe. Okay, there’s one more thing I can check. If he’s near humans, then his lifespan will probably be short. This land is prime for farmland, and the mana density is fairly high. It’ll attract sentient species to it.
….
….
….
Fuck. All of my expectations have been ruined. Closest human kingdom is several hundred miles away. And even worse, he’s inside of the elven kingdom of Elenia. If one of those elves find him, he could live for a long time. Thankfully no one ever looks at grass, even the elves don’t care about it. ACTUALLY, they might even think he’s corrupted! Hya hya hya. Hopefully he does something stupid. Fate’s gonna be mad at me if she will have to retie too many fate strings.

Oh, speak of the act, and it shall happen. Hya hya hya, look at that idiot. Looks like I’ll see him REAL soon.
-- POV Grass – Peaceful Glade
Success! I think. I could feel each of my growths separately, and now I have an extra sense somehow. I can tell the sun is down, and I feel energy slowly entering my body through my roots. I feel sluggish though, hopefully that goes away when the sun comes up.
I guess I should look at my status again to make sure everything is working again. Also, I should look over what those other titles and abilities do. I feel they’ll affect me a lot, similar to [Destined to Die]…… Still pissed off about that.
Name: --- Age: 2 Days Gender: ♂/♀ Level: 1 Class: Plant Sage Race: Bermuda Grass HP: 1/1 Mana: 0/0 Growth Points: 0 Growth Rate: 0.15 pts/hour Strength: 1 Vitality: 1/1 Agility: 1 Intelligence: 115 Titles: [Destined to Die], [Reincarnator], [Martyr], [Boundless], [Late Bloomer], [One of Many] Abilities: , , , ,
Ooh. Some new stuff showed up. And I’m finally getting more growth points, nice! Guess that’s what I feel coming up through my roots. I wonder how much I can get when the sun is up? I can feel it’s near time for it, so I should find out soon.
Ok, I still have some time, so let’s look through my titles again and see if something can help me.
[Reincarnator] Rank: X This being has survived the soul forge with his memories intact. Title bearer will be sought after for the knowledge they may have. Increases attractive forces for those who seek such knowledge. [Martyr] Rank: A Title bearer sacrificed himself for the greater good. Increased relations with allies and beings that that side with good. Decreased relations with beings that side with evil. [Boundless] Rank: SSS Normal lifetime/ability limits have been removed from title bearer. Does not affect inherent talent. Resistance to fate. [One of Many] Rank: B Due to sprouting within many of your own plant species. Makes targeting you specifically more difficult. [Late Bloomer] Rank: F By being one of the last to grow from your species. Applies a small corrective growth measure. (+0.15 pts/hour)

Nice. They look fairly normal, boundless must have helped me resist my instincts, and given me more freedom in my choices. Martyr must have been when I jumped on the grenade for my friend, ……, what’s his face. These fuzzy memories really bother me. It feels like I’ve lost part of who I am. And I just don’t know which parts were lost.
[Late Bloomer] and [One of Many] are new. Hmmm…. I guess there’s perks sometimes for being last. There must be for being first as well. It’s probably also better than this one. zzzzzzz. But I’m ecstatic for [One of Many]! This will help offset the [Destined to Die] title, and will keep me safe as long as I stay as grass.
Oh? I’m starting to feel good. Ahhhhh. Something warm is baking my leaf, the sun must have just hit me.
It feels so goooooooooood. Ahhhhhhhhh.
Oh, it’s gone? Ah, that was quick. Now I feel kind of depressed. A leaf must have blocked my sun somehow. It should be back soon.
.Wait.
My sense is saying the sun is down. What’s going on? Shit, I should look at my status, I feel as if something bad happened, my instincts must have taken over.
Name: --- Age: 2 Days Gender: ♂/♀ Level: 1 Class: Plant Sage Race: Bermuda Grass HP: 1/1 Mana: 0/0 Growth Points: 0.95 Growth Rate: 0.25 pts/hour Strength: 1 Vitality: 1/1 Agility: 1 Intelligence: 115 Roots: 2 (+0.1/hour) Leaves 13 Titles: [Destined to Die], [Reincarnator], [Martyr], [Boundless], [Late Bloomer], [One of Many] Abilities: , , , ,
Shit, I went on a leaf growing spree and wasted 13 Growth Points. Oh no. Nonononononono. My [One of Many] title is gone!!!!!!
What do I look like now to make that title disappear?
-- POV ??? – Soul Stream
“Hya hya hya hya!!!”
He made himself a mini-grass bush. He’s like a huge clump of tasty, tall grass. Tomorrow he’ll definitely die. Looks like he didn’t have as much control over his instincts as I thought. And his accelerated growing potential that his class has worked against him. He sticks out like a sore thumb. My condolences, I’ll be seeing you soon.
“Pfffft….. hya hya hya!!”

But that all changes one day when a portal opens, allowing Kreig and a small band of soldiers to enter one of many portals that leads to Earth. As it turns out these portals have been opening ever since he was summoned, giving the people of Earth abilities that the world he was summoned to only used to have. But now... now, he has returned. Longing for his former life of peace and understanding, he allows authorities to capture him on the spot, only to be faced with deeply personal questions, such as "who are you?" "what have you been doing for the past 10 years?" and "why is your level so high?" -------- ...Have you ever read a story where the main guy who got isekai'd returns to Earth. In the little village of Nyberg, Sylvia is dreaming of a future with Rebecca at her side. Together, they could move overseas. But when bandits attack, all of her tender dreams turn to ashes. Forced out of her home, Sylvia forges new bonds with the Fri, the women who have taken it upon themselves to protect their little corner of the world. So bonded, they attempt to settle down. When a distant heir to the Crown asks for aid to reunite the country, Sylvia sees her chance to finally right all the wrongs committed against her family. It is not an easy task to balance the strain on her soul with the demands of the upcoming battle. In this world, the soul is not an incorporeal concept. To the contrary, the human soul is a physical object, an organ which resides in the chest of each individual. It is a great source of strength, but also of vulnerability. Hardship can leave scratches and blemishes, or even break the soul in two. The soul is each person's connection to divinity, to the magic which is ubiquitous to the world. It enables the cultivation of gods, but old legends warn of demons emerging in the presence of corrupt intention, and of hollow warriors, with no soul at all. There are two sides to every page. Cursed Forest
This is a high fantasy story with horror elements, featuring the map-maker and half-elf Aspen, and his friend Sekafi, a hyena-like humanoid as they are sent on a mission to map out unknown territory and encounter a monster. Soon they're involved in something larger and more dangerous than they ever wanted. What happens next, you'll find out when you read. This is the first story I'm publishing here on RoyalRoad. I wanted to try this site out since it's more geared towards fantasy. I've been at Wattpad for about 2 years under the same name, but since I'm not writing romance I haven't gotten much steam there. This is my latest story, and it's also published on Wattpad in the book called Short Stories. I wanted to start with something new and unfinished here. I'll try and update at least once every other week, sometimes more often. ~RiisingNovels
