Part Twenty-Six
Their mission was simple, kill off the Wells bloodline. Removing their entire line from this earth. From the first breath they took, it was already instilled in them. Kill their foe, kill anyone who stood in their path. Retreat if necessary and get stronger.
Z looked at his lovely sister next to him. She glanced his way and they both nodded their heads. No words were needed. They understood each other like their brains were one.
She turned around and faced the enemy behind them. Out of the two, Nick possessed a more dominant aura. As much as he’d like to give her a chance to challenge herself, this task of theirs was too important. If she got killed because he made a mistake he’d never forgive himself.
“Turn around and walk away, last chance.”
Z spoke up as he watched Nick’s eyes hoping he’d give up. It didn’t give Z the greatest feeling in the world killing children. Especially ones that did not need to die.
The blood on his hands now was for his mission and once it was completed he hoped to remove himself from this world. Or atleast remove himself from these humans. He’d much rather live among demons and demonic beast.
“I already told you, not interested in retreating.”
Nick’s voice cold as a winter's chill. His eyes unwavering. These creatures should never have been created. Now they were wandering about unsupervised, there was no telling what they would do next.
“Very well, but I hope you have no regrets. I gave you the chance to leave multiple times but you refuse to accept my offer. Now prepare to die!”
Z spoke in a deep voice that slowly got louder as he talked.
The ground beneath his feet cracked as he prepared to dash forward. His target had no weapon while he was a living weapon. The results would be obvious.
Pushing off the ground he sped forward, his figure leaving behind an afterimage.
Z had the upper hand in height, weight and strength. He believed himself to win in a matter of seconds.
He soon arrived in front of Nick with his fist clenched tight and veins bulging. His fist moving elegantly like a snake, biting hits victim before they could react.
Hearing the collision of his fist against Nick’s abdomen caused a smile to blossom on Z’s face. A gust of wind caused by the impact made his hair blow back gently.
It was strange, his victim neither coughing up vomit or crawling over begging for mercy. This was a first. Sure he did not use his full power behind that punch but it happened so fast almost impossible to react.
Z’s brain soon processed everything. His fist caught in the grasp of Nick’s hand. Nick staring at him with that cold gaze.
There was little time for him to wonder how Nick caught his fist as Z was pulled in closer to Nick.
Nick quickly reacted changing the position of his hand from Z’s fist to wrist, pulling him closer swiftly. A knee blow followed after landing on Z’s chin. Or should have, but Z bent his head back making Nick’s counter attack miss.

Z got free from Nick’s iron grip and retreated three steps letting the distance between them grow.
The distance was short lived as Nick closed it in almost an instant. A left roundhouse kick incoming. Z deflected the blow easily but Nick’s body followed in motion and his right leg came around as his body twisted in the air.
Quickly moving Z dodged the blow, or thought he did. He gauged the distance wrong not expecting Nick to extend his foot for the blow to connect. There was power behind that blow causing Z’s head to turn.
Re-adjusting himself quickly, Z took a fighting stance. His pink tongue licked his lips, causing him to taste blood. One kick and he drew blood? Z started to wonder who this kid was.
His body was reinforced after battles growing stronger every fight. It was not easy to draw blood from him, especially after one hit.
Z looked out the corner of his eye and saw his sister, she didn’t seem like she was struggling. Her fight yet to begin as her and her opponent stared each other down.
Drops of sweat fell from her forehead as she struggled to stand. Every muscle in her body working to keep her upright.
Z realized he was wrong, their battle had already begun.
His eyes only left Nick for a moment, but it was a fatal mistake. Nick used Z being slightly distracted to draw closer to him. Z was unguarded and not paying attention.
Nick threw out three quick jabs to Z’s body.
Strong as they were, Z didn’t flinch. He moved his head in a powerful motion, drawing in air before he swung his head down. His head clashed with Nick’s creating a loud bang.
Loud fell from his head but he paid it no mind as his foe staggered backwards. This was his chance, and it was a chance he would not miss.
His strength surged remembering his previous opponents - all of which fell by his hands. Their forms emerged in his mind. Quickly he picked one that fited this moment.
Flames emerged from his fist. It was wild and uncontrolled but he contained it. His fist went through the motions as if it was natural. A bit slow and unrefined, but powerful nonetheless.
Taking in a large amount of air, his hands moved around slow but steady. Raising one leg slightly his arms moved in a circular motion leaving behind a trail of fire. Letting out a low growl the air in his lungs left his body.
Nick was slowly recovering himself but it was already too late.
Z placed his palm in the middle of the circle of fire, his foot stomped the ground caving it in. A blast of fire as large as the circle he made burst forward. The fire so hot it scorched the ground leaving nothing behind.
He was sure of it, Nick was as good as dead.
“Pitiful, you call that fire? I’ve felt hotter, this doesn’t even make me sweat.”

Nick said as he emerged from the blast. His upper body bare revealing his well toned body. There was a mark on his right shoulder, he did take damage from this attack.
While Z was shocked at Nick surviving his attack he was enraged at the same time. His flame pitiful? The move was stolen, but he saw the power of this technique first hand!
Z himself barely survived that brute force of this attack, so how could Nick? Even if he did survive, he dared to call it pitiful!
Shaking his head Z calmed himself. Don’t get angry, don’t let it control you. Words Charles had told his sister, words that helped them survive until now.
Nick wasted no more time with words, he used action instead. Leaving multiple blurs behind as he dashed towards Z. His palm touched Z’s stomach before a force made its way through his body causing his insides to shake. Z tried to recover himself but found himself falling as Nick swept his legs.
Following up with a palm strike to Z’s chest sending his body down into the ground. Z coughed up blood, his ribs breaking under the pressure of Nick’s attack.
Z watched the coldness in Nick’s eyes, he saw that look before. It was the same look he gave all his foes before he killed them off.
A hand grabbed Nick’s wrist before he could send down his final strike.
“Calm down, there is no need to kill them. We are not their executioners, let the proper authorities handle it.”
Matthew told Nick trying to convince him not to kill Z. They were young, with only demonic beast blood stained on their hands. Killing another human, that would change them forever. Matthew didn’t want that, he didn’t feel the need to change himself. Nor would he lower himself to kill his enemies, no matter how dangerous they were.
Nick looked at Matthew and shook his head.
“You’re wrong, if we let them live they’ll come back unchanged and kill even more people. Putting them down now is the best way to end it.” Nick paused as he glanced down at Z. “If you knew what I did you wouldn’t waste time hesitating. They look human but trust me, they are anything but. They are a parasite that needs to be dealt with.”
Z laughed to himself as he listened. Yes, he was a parasite. Yes, he would continue on this path until his mission was finished. If he was in Nick’s shoes he’d put him down as well. Shedding blood was all he knew for now, to stop him from continuing on killing him would be the best option.
“Tell me then, what don’t I know?”
Matthew questioned Nick refusing to believe that taking a life would make a difference. He didn’t sign up to kill, nor did he want to. Rather have this guy rot in prison than let him die without punishment.
While the two of them were debating over killing him and his sister, Z’s body started recovering. Growing stronger with every second, he couldn’t help but look at his sister. He didn’t even need to move his head much, but it pained him to see her bound up with some sort of weapon. Her eyes closed and body unmoving, but still bound.
It was strange, why did he have to eliminate the Wells entire family? His creators were Wells themselves, so why kill them? Who gave him the orders to do so and why? So many questions, all of which went unanswered.
Thinking about it, where was his brother E? Z saw him, he knew he was here with them. Why did he not help in their escape?
E provided them with information and his hands left unstained, but he knew how many people would attend this event. He knew who would show up, did he not know the abilites of these people as well?
If Z lived through this, he would find out. Why his brother would send him here. A very strange thought passed through Z’s mind but he refused to believe it. His brother, betray him? For what and why? As strange as it was, Z did take notice of his brothers odd behaviour as of late.
“Why don’t you just hand them both over to me? Can’t have you kids staining yourselves with blood and regretting something you can never take back.”
A deep voice said as a figure walked up behind Nick and Matthew.
His light blue hair messy but in a good way, his high nose and long eyelashes made him look like a woman. He was wearing a black and red suit, with white gloves. A red and golden sash across his shoulder, while a rapier was at his side ready at a moments notice.
If it wasn’t due to him having broad shoulders, a flat chest and stubble on his chin, Nick and Matthew would have mistaken him for a girl.
There was a golden badge on his chest that shined due to the sunlight.
There was no need to ask who he was, the answer was obvious to them both. He was a police officer and clearly one that specialized in EXO users.
Something about him screamed familiar in Nick’s head, but he couldn’t connect the dots.
“Tell me, you two from Demeter?”
He asked Nick and Matthew as he cuffed Z with white handcuffs that emitted a blue glow. These cuffs would lock away any EXO ability pretending the users from using their powers. Without their abilities, they were just a bit stronger than normal humans.
Seeing the look on their face he could tell they were wondering who he was.
“Ah, where are my manners. You may have heard of my son, Arthur Kidd, he attends that academy. Names, Cornelius Kidd.”

New Game (Reborn as a Reluctant Demon Lord, Book 1)
Portal Fantasy. Isekai. A daydream of nerds everywhere, leaving behind their boring world and living in a fantasy one that is full of adventure. A daydream that became a reality for me and 1000 other Comic-Con attendees. Except for me, it was more of a nightmare. Wanting nothing more than to find a way home, and also saddled with being the world's new [Demon Lord], I found myself trapped in a gamelike world and also somehow a part of the [Hero's] party. So join me as I tell the tale of my struggles. A tale of levels and skills. A tale of cagey game admins and bugs. And a tale of our party's grand quest to defeat... Well... Me. ---- What to expect from this book? 1. A main character who is not overpowered (and instead has to go from near-useless to strong. Not just weak to strong). If you are looking for an OP [Demon Lord] who laughs at his weakling enemies... This isn't for you. 2. A meandering pace as the characters aren't told how a lot of the world works and have to figure it out themselves. (And because there are a lot of characters. Whose idea was it to have a party of 9? I blame Jake) 3. A tragedy. A lot of things are not going to go well for the protagonist. (Not that everything is tragedy all the time. There is humor, laughter, friendship, and even a mascot monster character who got way more popular than I expected. But this is not a story that will leave you uplifted and inspired after every time you read it). ---- Release Schedule and publishing information: Book 1 is complete! I will include a link to book 2 once it has been started. Feel free to give feedback, positive or negative. ---- Other notes Book 1? Yes, this says Book 1. There are probably going to be 3 books. No, the plot as you can guess is not going to be tortured to drag out all the way to book 3. That would be ridiculous. If you can guess the plot of books 2 or 3 at any point before the last chapter of book 1, please use your clairvoyant powers for something more productive. TitusGM? This story is intentionally told under the username TitusGM because the idea is that he was the one actually writing everything down what happened after it all is over. I initially planned to answer everything in character on this site, but that just really didn't work out. If you want an in character response to a comment, simply prefix it with IC: (I also try to leave that as a reminder in the author's note after each new chapter) Cover art? Made by a friend who shall remain nameless at this time by his request
