《This Kitty has guns》Chapter 17: Please tell me it's dead now ..

"M.. Master, I think you should kill this .. this thing. It will be .. umm .. yes, it will be way more effective if you do that Master." I said while looking with disgust at that 'thing'.
"Oh really now? Where is the Kitty that almost begged me for the chance to kill this Wormy? Don't you want to give him a punch or two ?" teased me Master.
"Ewww !" a shudder ran all over my body from an image of touching 'it'.
There is no way I will touch that 'thing' without using phantom skills. Actually I would like to have a flamethrower right now, or even better, some tactical missiles.
"Could it be that you are scared Kitty ?" he teased with a grin on his face.
"No! Of course, I am not scared! It's just .. it's just that this 'thing' is really really gross. Please, just kill 'it' already Master." and as I glanced at 'it', shudder ran all over my body once again.
"The girl is right though, I doubt anything other than magic can harm this thing." said one of mages, probably Megildur.
"Well, let's give it a try." said Master while facing 'it'.
Reveon summoned his Grimoire and started forming letters to cast a spell. This ghostly book Grimoire, was soul manifestation of his magic knowledge, it was a unique trait for all wizards. Because of it, Master can't use staff, to amplify his magic like other mages.
One hand is used to summon Grimoire and is keeping it floating above palm, while another was launching the spell, and even when he was healing the girls we saved from goblins, he had to cast a spell like this. The only exception is his Space Time magic. Its large handicap, but in return, he isn't limited by what magic he can learn.
"Fireball !" launched spell Reveon.
As the spell was about to reach 'it', mana cloak of creature sprung into an action and the fireball was blocked. Instead of exploding, the fireball dissipated upon contact, and only sparks reached the creature.
"What was that? What did that thing .." as Larnok started to talk, the creature began its counterattack.
Without any magic symbols a dark ball of energy formed in its hand and was launched towards Master.
I might have been incapable to do anything when we fought against the cyclop, but now I won't sit idly and leave everything to the reflexes of Master. I charged forward and blocked the dark ball with the palm of a phantom hand. In anticipation of some sort of explosion, I tensed up my muscles to the limits and even materialized phantom claws on legs to stop me from being pushed away.

All of that was useless though, as the ball of energy just dissolved into black mist upon contact. Poison ? No. Some sort of paralyzing gas. I guess this is how that thing hunts, paralyzes and then eats its prey alive. If it was some lightning then maybe it would have some effect, but with only this ..
Skill "Paralysis Resistance" learned. Paralysis Resistance reached level 2. Paralysis Resistance reached level 3.
* * *
Paralysis Resistance reached level 9. Paralysis Resistance reached maximum level.
Yes, with body manipulation that was like begging me to learn new skills. Now thanks to the system, even electrocution will have no effect on me.
"Master, be careful, this mist is paralyzing gas." I shouted a warning so Reveon doesn't come closer, and charged forward.
As I was getting closer, 'it' managed to launch one more ball, which I just crushed with my phantom claws. Just as I reached 'it', I swung my tail at its arm. The cloak of dark aura sprung into action once again and tried to defend against my tail. And I finally understood why the fireball of Master dissipated back then. This dark aura had a similar effect to my devour mana. I had to use my devour mana to counter it, but when it comes to the speed of mana absorption, I was on the losing side. I still cut off the arm. The cost was a large amount of mana consumed.
The arm just like the rest of its body was made from worms, so once reached the ground, worms started to crawl back to the main body. My materialized phantom foot made that journey short with the sound of a splash. Black mist was released from all of its body. Without paralysis resistance fighting it close would be suicide. Unfortunately, I was it's worst enemy, and with the arm gone there shouldn't be any more dark balls aimed in Master's direction for a while.
My devour mana prevents any mana based skills as long as I use it. But it seems touching only its aura isn't enough, and so I stabbed my tail into its body and activated mana devour. My plan was a total failure.
Yes, skill work, but it did only on the worms that my tail touched. Millions of others were not affected in the slightest. And just like I was using mana devour trough my tail, the cloak was absorbing my mana trough it as well. And like I said earlier, it did that way faster than me, and I could see the amount of dark aura increasing.
I changed my plan and started to squish worms by clenching body with my phantom claws, slashing it to pieces with the tail and claws, and stomping with phantom foots. By the time I finished I had only half of my mana remaining, and there was now a large amount of dark aura left in the place of that thing. If I had no devour mana to counter its effect, it would be way worse.

I returned back to the side of my Master and we all looked at the hovering dark aura.
"No wonder that D rank party failed. It's a quite frightening enemy. Uses paralysis to attack, while spells are absorbed, just how are you supposed to kill this thing ?" started to talk Larnok.
In the mean time, dark aura fell to the ground and started to dissipate. But before I could rejoice that this thing finally died, more worms started to emerge from the ground. It was a sight from a horror movie. This thing just doesn't know how to die.
"Let's join our forces." Reveon offered his hand to Larnok.
"I though you wouldn't ask. He he." accepted party invitation Larnok.
"Let's kill this thing !" he roared to his companions and got loud cheers in return.
Master launched a fireball at the worms, those buggers were rushing to combine into a new body, but the spell was consumed by the dark aura like before. Same happened to the flame arrows and a lightning bolt of twin mages. Seeing this Morohtar, one of twin mages, placed his staff on the ground and pointed another hand forward. His twin brother Megildur stabbed staff to the ground as well and then placed other hand on the hand of brother. Large magic circle started forming below their foots.
"Fusion spell." muttered Master.
"Flamethrower !" shouted twins in unison.
With a loud roar, an almost 40 meters long stream of fire was created. I could sense its heat even from a distance away. Dark aura sprung into action once again, but this time all it managed was to weaken the flame a bit, and that was all. If some worms were not burned into ash immediately then they were simply roasted from a heat. Twins might have called it a flamethrower, but it looked more like a plasma to me. I could see that some parts of ground melted into something like a glass.
"Wow." I looked at all devastation with amazement.
"He he. I keep telling them to take a test for rank D, but they keep delaying it. They might be only rank E at the moment, but if they act together even ranks B should be careful." hapily boasted Larnok.
After spell flamethrower ended all that reminded was a melted ground and rising smoke .. and dark aura. Though this time there was less of it. Seems it had a hard time to consume this plasma like flame. And now because of melted ground around us, there was no place for new worms to be summoned.
Seems 'it' thought so as well and moved away to the lands not affected by the flamethrower. We, of course, followed the suit.
"How many times could you cast that 'flamethrower ?" asked Master while looking at the twins.
"About three more times, but we will use only two times at best, we need to have some mana to defend ourself in case we have to run." answered Morohtar.
"Since most of our spells and skills only feed Wormy, we should avoid using any." said Master and summoned some barrels with oil.
"We will just burn it repeatedly, let's see how many times it can summon new worms." he added with an evil smile.
Me and Amodar grabbed barrel each and launched them at 'it'. It was quickly followed by some torches. Fireballs were quite useless if intercepted by the dark aura. And just like that our war of attrition has started. We used oil to burn its main body, and if we were too sloppy in killing it before the body was formed, I intercepted attacks of dark balls with paralysis.
"Flamethrower !" shouted twins.
The land around us once again turned into a molten glass. Sadly oil supplies were limited and brothers had to use their spell once again. With less dark aura, the thing had even harder time to absorb spells. But we were not taking risks and 'flamethrower' was the only spell we used against it.
"What now ?" asked Megildur.
We could see remains of dark aura heading for the next part of the land, where 'it' could summon worms to recreate a body.
"Master, did you stored some bodies of slimes ?" I asked.
"Yes, but .. ohhh. Nice thinking Kitty." Master quickly realized my plan.
"He he he." I giggled happily.
And just like that oil and fire were replaced by flying acid and our war of attrition continued. Sadly after half hour, we were out of slimes as well, but the amount of dark aura on the creature was almost nonexistent too.
"Flamethrower !" shouted twins once again.
This was the last time they will use it. Smoke clouded our vision and we all started to wait with anticipation.
"Please tell me it's dead now .. " I silently whispered.

Gods of Arkanoth
The hunter has been betrayed, left alone in the streets of a lugubrious district. Only one goal appears in his eyes: to avenge himself. In his quest to avenge himself, he'll encounter an enigmatic scientist who seems to hide his true nature, a savior pretending to be a God, and the terrible truth of those words, bringing him against something he'd never thought he'd have to affront. This is the odyssey of the hunter, in a quest to put a long overdue end to a war between two worlds. // What to expect:The beginning will surely be intriguing, most of what's happeing won't be directly explained, although there will be some hints about their true roles, but do not worry about some subjects never leaving that misty fog that is unanswered questions! The novel is divided in two parts, the first focusing on uncovering the well-hidden secrets the city of Arkanoth hides, be it concerning its making or its inhabitants. As for the second part, it will be an expedition into the unknown, we could, in a way, say the true start of the journey our three heroes will undertake! I won't say anything more about the second part or else I might tell you an important detail without realizing... As for magic, because yes, there is magic! Although you might not see the shadow of a spell in the first chapters, it will appear in later chapters and will be one of the main subjects of volume 2. There are three heroes, yes, but they will not appear directly. While the first two protagonists appear in quite the beginning, the third will take his time, taking some stroll in the Districts of Arkanoth while we focus on the story of the hunter. But that does not lessen his importance in the story a bit, trust me. What about these three heroes, you say? Well, they all have their own issues, from their character to their torments, and as the story progresses they will have to come clean with their past (character development is to be expected) and will find their reason for fighting, braving all odds. I draw my inspiration from mythology, more precisely Aztec mythology. I want to stay true to a certain extent about it and all the relations between the gods and their role, however I will still change some things to my liking, so do not expect for all of the mythology to be respected to the letter. Finally! I have to say English is a foreign langage for me, so I might not choose the best words or straight-up miswrite something, if it bothers your experience, just tell me in the comments and I'll look into it! It is also my first time writing a book, so some parts might seem sloppy, but I hope I will be able to improve throughout this journey so as to give the most enjoyable reading experience to you. // Who might enjoy this story: Firstly, if you like deep lore and stories in which past plays a big role, you will like how everything unravels to show the hidden truths of the world. However if you do not appreciate not instantly understanding what's happening or who - or even what - this person might be, then you might not appreciate the story. There will be disturbing and gore descriptions, so if you're sensitive, don't like reading about someone being beheaded and such, you should probably pass this one. There is strong langage, although I won't abuse it, I won't be lying saying no insults will appear. Finally, the heroes will not always win, they will sometime lose battles, be it important ones or unimportant, and they will, most of the time, not come out unscathed from those. // Time Schedule : once every two sundays at 7:pm Ps : feel free to tell me if something is bad, or feel wrong with the book, it really helps me. I've written till' chapter 4 (in my mother tongue, so I'll still have to translate), however I'll make some minor and major changes, thus it will take some time to post them. Schedule will probably not change after releasing chapter 4, so don't worry, it won't take even longer to post a chapter than it already is. Enjoy the ride :)
