《This Kitty has guns》Chapter 7: Firsts steps in becoming an adventurer

The Building of Adventurers Guild was three or four stores high and had a large sign picturing a sword with an open book behind it. It was also the tallest building in this square.
As we entered inside, a strong smell of alcohol entered my nose. To my right, I could see a bar. The whole area with tables and all, was on a bit elevated floor, when compared to the rest of the guild hall. Decorative railings surrounded it at the edges and small stairs leading to its area, were just four meters ahead. This 'bar' took a space of almost one-third of the hall.
There were many adventurers chatting or drinking at the tables and only a few spared us a glance. To my left, I saw stairs leading to the second floor and a bit further stood a few bulletin boards attached with many pieces of paper. At the end of the hall, I could see three reception windows, just like you would see in a bank, only in this case without glass. Many people stood in the line waiting their turn and judging from their attire, most of them were adventurers.
We stood in the line and then waited for our turn as well. With nothing to do, I started inspecting adventurers around us. Only one-fourth of them were women. Most of them were warriors, scouts with an occasional mage here and there, all from different races. Some mages had a pixie sitting on their shoulder or head.
After almost a half hour, it was finally our turn. Usually, adventurers finished their business rather quickly, but there were also people who actually submitted requests, and those took way longer.
"Hello. How can I help you?" a woman receptionist, human as far as I could tell, asked when it was finally our turn.
"Hi, I want to register her as an adventurer." said my Master.
The receptionist looked at me, then at my slave collar, then at Reveon and sighed.
"Registration fee will be 15 silver. She might don't look like one, but I still have to remind. If we notice she has serious criminal records or is on our blacklist, she won't be accepted and the registration fee, in that case, will be lost. We can't allow criminals to join as adventurers," warned the receptionist, "The same applies if we discover that she is younger than 14."
"I know," Reveon replied and then placed coins on the table for the fee.
"First of all let me check if your enslavement was legal." the receptionist said when looked at me and gestured for me to lean closer.
She touched my collar with a ring on her finger and then whispered, "Mark of Law Status."
*Sigh*
"Drop a bit of your blood on this orb now," she said and placed a crystal orb next to me and then stretched her other hand with a needle.
I did as she asked and dropped a few drops of blood on the orb. She picked the orb and placed it in the center of a magical symbol. The symbol and orb started to glow and after some time magical letters started forming in the air. The receptionist wrote something in a journal and then faced us again.

"Seems you can become adventurer without any problems. As you are only level 4, will start at rank G. You can pick your badge tomorrow."
"Rank?" I asked her playing surprised. I already suspected what she was talking about, but just wanted to confirm.
"There are eight ranks that represent strength and experience of an adventurer," she started to explain, "From the weakest to the highest they are as follow: G, F, E, D, C, B, A, and S. Most requests have a rank requirement, so with a higher rank you can take request of a higher difficulty, and often, but not always with a way better pay. You are allowed to take requests one rank higher than your own but I highly advise against that. Once you reach level ten, you can get your rank changed to F, but to rank up above that, you will need a sufficient amount of guild points and to pass a test."
"What are guild points?" I asked again.
"You get them for completing requests and killing monsters from Dungeons," explained the receptionist, "You need a specific amount of points to attempt a rank up test. If you fail the test, however, will need to accumulate the points again. It's better to attempt only if you are absolutely sure you can pass. Oh, and tests for rank C and above are held only in the capital."
"Dungeons?" I asked again. Is this just like in the games?
"You don't know even about that?" receptionist looked at me surprised.
*Sigh*
"Dungeons are the relics from Dark Ages," receptionist started to explain, "According to the 'Silver Sword Order', they were personally created by the God of Chaos. When they were created, monsters flooded the surface and our world has entered the Dark Ages. Under threat of extinction, all races united and fought as one, but it was still not enough. The Goddess of Light - Evelyn choose her Champions and granted them the power to fight back. With their help dungeons were finally cleared, and their cores destroyed. But the creation of a God can't be destroyed just like that. Even without a core, dungeons still create new monsters even today. The only difference is that now they appear at way slower pace and with the regular sweeps of the dungeons it's possible to keep the monsters in check. You can earn guild points, just by selling to us monster cores you get from killing monsters in dungeons."
"Thank you for answering." I smiled.
So basically dungeons spawn monsters without a stop, and if they are left alone, at some point we would have to deal with an army of monsters.
"Not a problem," replied receptionist, "Don't forget to pick your adventurer's badge tomorrow, only then will you become an adventurer officially. Now have a nice day. Next..."
With first steps of becoming an adventurer done, we started to leave.
To be honest I was a bit disappointed. I was hoping for someone to pick a fight with me. Isn't this what happens to the main protagonists in the movies all the time? Sadly everyone just minded their own business.

As we were nearing an exit, I saw a drunk orc and a minotaur leaving the bar area and a wide smile appeared on my face.
If trouble doesn't find you, you just need to find the trouble yourself!
A quick sweep with the leg and the minotaur tripped over the floor. The Minotaur quickly stood up, looked at me, then at the orc...
"Tired of living Pig?!" he shouted at the orc and then punched him right into the face.
Teeth and blood flew into the air, but the minotaur didn't let it end here and continued to smash the orc into the face. Friends of the orc still sitting over tables noticed their friend in trouble and rushed to help. Then friends of the minotaur rushed to join as well and just in one minute all of this turned into a group brawl. Over ten people were helping each other to rearrange their face.
Reveon looked at me with amusement.
How the hell that minotaur came to the conclusion that it was the orc. Come on, he was at least one meter further! *Sigh* Maybe some bandits will ambush us before we reached the Inn. Our district isn't exactly a bright place. One can always hope. With such thoughts, I followed my Master as we departed from now a bit noisy guild.
On the way back, when we were in less populated streets I tried to experiment with magic... fire magic to be more precise. I mean, in the movies people just have to use a bit of imagination or knowledge and boom - a fireball.
I got absolutely nothing for all my efforts.
An imagination was just that... an imagination. Guess it would be scary, if a nightmare during your sleep could set your room on fire... just because of 'imagination'. Guess I have to know what I do with mana and not the physic behind it to make it happen. Well, I have the time, will figure it out eventually.
As we reached the Inn, it was getting dark, add poor district we were in and... it was perfect condition for some bandits to block our path. Sadly no one did that, and we reached the Inn without an incident. Guess that means no evening exercise for me.
Where are the bandits when you need them?!
"Hi, Reveon. Oh, Is this the girl Kilmor was talking about?" a middle-aged woman greeted us once we entered the Inn.
She was a minotaur and even with the clothes on, I noticed that she had... four tits! Two pairs one above another. I am so glad I have not possessed the body of a minotaur! I shivered just from the thought if my luck was a bit worse. The innkeeper Kilmor was nowhere to be seen, but as both of them were minotaurs I guessed that this woman was probably his wife.
"Hello, Tamara. Her name is Melissa, she is now practically an adventurer. Just registered her at Adventurers Guild. Anyhow, I would like soup for dinner. And you Kitty?" asked me Reveon after introducing me to Tamara.
"Meat," I answered without hesitation.
"One soup and steak then," said Tamara and walked into a kitchen.
Soon she returned and placed our food on the table.
"Delicious," I said satisfied while licking my lips after finished my steak.
It was my first time tasting something so good in this world. Well, to be honest, anything would taste good when compared to that icky porridge I ate til now.
"Glad you liked," Tamara said with a smile.
After Master paid for our meal and my rent, we entered our room. I started to aid food digestion with my body manipulation. This time I had plans to use only a part of the nutrients, the rest was to be kept in reserve... you know, just in case I need it to heal my wounds, or want to make some noticeable changes to the body. As I can get other stats with a bit of food thanks to my body manipulation I spent all unallocated attribute points on mind power.

After opening my eyes, I saw Reveon already sleeping in the bed.
Dammit.
Missed my chance to peek when he was changing. Well no rush, there will be plenty of opportunities. I then looked at the bed he was lying... the only bed in the room.
This little devil.
Then I just shrugged and started to undress and lied down next to him in underwear. After making sure Reveon is asleep, I gently touched the skin of his back and sniffed a bit and fell asleep with a smile.
