《This Kitty has guns》Chapter 6: Spending money

As we entered the shop, we were greeted by a middle-aged woman, fox beastkin judging from three tails that could be seen behind. From those of her race I saw on the streets, I guessed that it was the limit of how many tails they can get. When she realized I was a slave, her disappointment was quite obvious, but she quickly masked that and greeted us with a smile. Maybe she simply didn't like the idea of a slave in her shop, or maybe she was just disappointed that the profit will be small.
The shop was dealing with woman clothes and footwear in general. There were a few separate sections dedicated for beastkin, minotaurs, and dwarfs. As for elves, humans and other similar races, their clothes were put in one place. Or at least so I guessed from the signboard placed in front of them.
When I looked at Reveon he looked like someone who would like to be somewhere else, but as I was his slave and he had to pay for my clothes, he was forced to follow me. He was so adorable when embarrassed. Maybe I should ask his opinion when it's time to try on underwears?
"Hello, I am Afferya. How can I help you ?" asked the fox.
"Reveon," he replied and then pointed at me, "She needs some underwears, spare tunic and sturdy boots suitable for her race. The boots have to be suitable for long travels outside the city and last long."
Afferya led me to a Beastkin section and showed what meet the stated requirements. I forgot this isn't my old world. Panties were a choice between something that looked like crude shorts made by a drunk tailor and... a loincloth.
I quickly abandoned my plans to tease Reveon by asking his opinion when I try them on. It's better than nothing but... I never held a needle in my life, but I think even I could do better than this. And of course, there was no choice for a bra at all.
I choose five pairs of panties that looked like shorts. Afferya suggested going for loincloth instead. Don't need to be as careful to shred with claws when putting them on, and would be more practical if suddenly have to answer the call of nature. It doesn't apply to me though. I could hold in for as much as needed. Unless my bladder reaches a point of bursting, which is unlikely, as I already reinforced it. Though I have not received any skill like 'Steel Blader' there might be room for improvement.
Well, it doesn't mean that I don't need to answer the call of nature at all, it's just that even delaying it for a whole day was not impossible.
Next, I choose a spare tunic of the same length as the one I was currently wearing. If a tunic was too long, it would affect my movements and with underwears secured, the wind was no longer a problem.
Lastly, it was time to choose footwear. The boots were made from leather and some material that reminded of bone. They were quite unusual. First, you put a paw into a cavity that had holes for claws. The rest part is then put around and fastened with belts. As I couldn't draw in the claws on my legs, if boots were made like those in my old world, just after putting them on a few times, I would shred them with my claws in the process.

Maybe it's because of an unusual design, but I liked the looks of my new footwear. With claws left sticking out, I could probably even run on vertical walls made from stone, especially if I used skill 'dragon claws' with hands and legs. In the end, I didn't tease my Master as initially planned when put on underwears behind a curtain. Those claws on legs are very dangerous for the clothes, so I took my sweet time.
"Five pairs of Beastkin underwear would be 9 silver. One simple tunic is for 3 silver 36 copper. And a pair of leather boots for Cat Beastkin would be 6 silver and 24 coppers. In total it's ... 18 silver and 60 copper." counted Afferya.
Just from listening to Afferya, I could tell that one silver was worth more than 60 coppers. Perhaps 100?
"Hey Reveon, what are the values of gold and silver coins?" I asked when he paid for my stuff and placed it into his pocket dimension. Space-Time Magic is so convenient.
"1 gold is 100 silver, and 1 silver 100 copper," he answered as we headed for an exit.
When he counted the coins before paying for all that stuff, I have already guessed as much, but as some of these coins had the value of ten, just wanted a confirmation.
"Next on the list will be weapons and armor," Reveon said once we left the shop, "What weapons do you prefer? I actually have a spare bow in my pocket dimension and with your accuracy, you are probably even better at it than me, but... If the situation calls for it, I need you capable in melee as well."
"Well, I just learned "dragon claws" so melee shouldn't be a problem even without a weapon," I answered, "but for better reach, a sword would be nice I guess..."
"Wait! What did you just said?!" he shouted surprised, "What the... when did you get mana perception and manipulation? Dragon Claws?"
I guess he just looked at my status again. Since now he hasn't done so aloud this time, then at the Inn he did so only so I know about it.
"Ah that's right, I haven't told you yet. Well, since we already made a deal and you will learn eventually anyway, I guess I can tell a bit more about myself." I said and after making short pause continued.
"I have retained my memories from my previous life. Many skills that you now see are from back then, I am just reawakening them all over within this body. There are even more that still wait their turn, but that's only because I had no chance to try them yet. For example, before that show with the pebbles, I had no accuracy in my list at all. Martial arts I know should be close to maximum, maybe even some variant of "godly" like accuracy. But my legs are a bit different now, so I am not sure."
"Hmm. If what you tell is true, then I made a good choice with that deal," Reveon said after listening to me and then started to walk again.

"Indeed you did," I replied with a smile and followed right behind him.
As we traveled to our next destination, the streets around us became more lively and most of my ideas for acquiring new skills became limited in the new environment. There wasn't much I could do without attracting attention. Just imagine if I managed to summon fireball or something. As such was the case, I started to recalibrate my sight, hearing and smell with body manipulation. Last time I touched them was only when healed my body from illness, and later I tried to avoid gaining new skills. Now was a perfect chance to continue where I left. As we were in the open, I could now easily check if the changes I make are optimal just by looking around, listening or sniffing the air.
Enhanced Sight reached level 3. Enhanced Sight reached level 4. Enhanced Hearing reached level 3. Enhanced Hearing reached level 4. Enhanced Hearing reached level 5. Enhanced Smell reached level 3. Enhanced Smell reached level 4.
Seems that without altering DNA level 4 was the limit for sight and smell, while level 5 for hearing. And the level of my body was still stuck at level 4. It seems that leveling up just from rising the skills was reaching the limit. Well, if someone picked a fight with me, it could try to 'awaken' my martial arts. But if the show with pebbles is any indicator, then I think that only a fierce fight will reveal the true level of my martial arts.
As we were walking trough spacious square, a huge building of the temple got my attention in the distance.
"Temple of Silver Sword Order," Reveon said when followed my gaze, "It's a place where you go if want to be healed. For a price of course. Offering healing services without their approval is considered illegal. As an adventurer, I can heal the ones in need here and there, but can't open an establishment or something of that nature." he continued.
Finally, we reached smithy and stood in the queue. There were two orcs ahead of us and one of them was bargaining with a dwarf. Deeper into the Smithy, I could see another dwarf pounding with a hammer at the glowing rod of metal. One in front was responsible for trading or taking orders for commissions, while the other should be a blacksmith.
"Listen now, we are selling, not buying weapons," said the dwarf in front of the orc, "We can't even sell this thing without ruining our name... Tell you what, I can give you five silver for it. The metal it's made from seems somewhat decent, but as a weapon, this sword has absolutely no use for us."
"What do we do Urlag?" asked one orc another.
"Bah! Cheap bastard. Fine, we sell it!" the first orc shouted angrily at the dwarf.
Both orcs then left right after receiving the money for their sword.
"Stupid orcs," grumbled dwarf under his nose as they left. "Wellcome to Onyxborn Brothers," he then faced us with a smile, "I am Bumrid. How can I help you?"
"I need one edged sword with a slight curve about this long," I gestured with my hands, "Do you have something like that ?"
My style was best suited for a saber or wakizashi type swords, but if they have only traditional 2 edged swords like I seen on most adventurers and mercenaries we passed by, it will do as well. Though I still would like to have something I am used to.
"Yes we do," the dwarf replied and then walked deeper into the smithy with a displeased expression.
"What's wrong with him?" I asked Reveon while waiting for the dwarf to return, "Does he have something against me?"
"No, I think he is gloomy because what you asked is a sword of elven design," answered Master with a grin.
After the dwarf returned he placed five swords on the table.
"I have more to choose from, but I doubt you guys can afford it. These three costs from one gold to two. This one is for 80 silver and this one is for 62," The dwarf named prices for the swords in front of us.
I looked at the one for 80 silver and it was indeed better than one for 62. Overall both of them were good swords, but one for 80 will serve longer, and cheaper one was without a scabbard.
"Please buy me the one for 80 silver," I asked while looking at Reveon.
With one more thing taken care of, we started to walk again, but now I had a sword hanging by my side.
We reached our next destination just in few minutes. The shop was dealing mostly in leather armors, and chest armor along with braces for arms and legs cost us another 36 silver. With me looking more like a warrior now, It was finally time to register at Adventurers Guild.
"Well, with all of this your debt just increased by 1 gold, 34 silver, and 60 copper," Reveon said with a grin.
Uhh. He really wasn't joking back then. I looked at his back. Well once I am free, you will be mine, and so will be your money. I smiled and then followed after him.
