《Late Night at Lund's》Interlude 1a: Introducing Book 2 - The Lockwood Quest

Hi all, here's to Book 2! The adventures continue!

Isa's back in Portland, but not for long.....

I plan to experiment with using more of the dice rolls in the narrative. Isa now knows how to play D&D so it's possible that she'll think consciously about say, a perception check. I want to see how that plays out within the story structure -- it might not work.

Note on the game engine for this story -- I use the Open Gaming License for 5th Edition, Dungeons & Dragons.

The Varana Nights series uses Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) as the game engine. D&D is a tabletop role-playing game. Players come together at a table (real or - thanks to places like Roll20 - virtual) and play the role of adventurers. One person is the game master. In D&D this person is usually called the Dungeon Master or DM.

The DM knows the full story and the players - called player characters or PCs - know their own character’s backstory, motivations, and reactions to events. As players move their characters through the imaginary world, they encounter story characters (called non-player characters or NPCs), monsters, and mysteries. They will explore strange and sometimes dangerous locations, fight bad guys, go on quests, find treasure, eventually level up their skills, abilities, and gear.
